"Character Study"

This catalogue documents Jonathan Forrest's exhibition "Character Study" that features recent small and large scale paintings that explore an eccentric, gestural imagery alluding to the figure Ð or perhaps more accurately the gesture of a cartoon figure. This series follows up on ideas explored in JonathanÕs exhibitions over the past few years that combines his history of modernist interest with a ÒloosenedÓ personal imagery and an ongoing concern for a variety of paint applications; the combination produces an Òalmost humorousÓ and Òalmost animatedÓ but fully personal, current, and exciting approach to painting.
