Ms. Kane writes like no other, says Romantic Times of Andrea Kane's breath-catching, dramatic mixture of romance and danger. Now, in this dazzling sequel to The Gold Coin, she continues her suspenseful tale of two beautiful cousins, so alike even their own family mistakes them, so enmeshed in a web of deceit that their very lives are at risk.... All her life, Breanna Colby has lived on the precipice of fear, her only joy the recent reunion with her beloved cousin Anastasia. With her violent father now locked away in jail, the repressed young woman can emerge from her cocoon and pursue all the joys she's been denied. But she finds -- to her terror -- that not all the shadows have lifted, and an evil from the past stalks both her and Anastasia. When authorities are unable to help with this assassin lurking in the darkness, the Colbys turn to the brilliant, unconventional Royce Chadwick, England's foremost expert on finding people who don't want to be found. Hard, detached Royce has always been a loner who operates by his own set of rules. He has little patience for weakness. Delicate Breanna Colby is an eye-opener to him, for beneath her fragile exterior ties a core of steel. As the two face overwhelming danger side by side, Royce discovers a woman he never dreamed existed -- one who, despite his cynicism, he is losing his heart to. But their future together can never be -- not unless Royce kills the assassin before the assassin kills them.

Gizem seven historicalciler okuyabilir.
very long, very slow, very fast they fell in love, and in the end Breanna put Stacie in danger which in most of the book up to that moment she said she would not do
Having sped through the first in this two book series, The Gold Coin, I was eager to pick up the second and see what happens in Brianna's story. Lucky for me, I happened to have this one sitting on my shelf as well! After such an explosive ending to the Stacie's story, I couldn't wait to see what the aftermath looked like. What sort of fallout came of Stacie and Breanna thwarting the assassin? What would life be like for Breanna now that she was finally free of her violent, vindictive father?
The story takes place shortly after Breanna's twenty-first birthday -- just a few months after the conclusion of Stacie's book. Breanna has been working on organizing the construction of Stacie and Damen's new home on the grounds of Medford Manor. She excitedly anticipates their return from their honeymoon trip to America where they were able to oversee their new banking venture. However, the joy is not to last.
A mysterious package arrives at Medford Manor. It it addressed only to Stacie. And it contains mutilated dolls which bear an uncanny resemblance to Stacie and Breanna, as well as an explicit threat. Though Breanna takes the dolls to Bow Street, there is little they can do for her. They are spread far too thin as it is with a slew of odd murders and disappearances amongst the ton. Stacie realizes Bow Street will be of no help and she must figure out how to handle the threat on her own. It seems as if the assassin whose finger she shot off when she thwarted his attempted murder of Stacie has come back to England. Not only does he seek revenge for his mutilated hand, he wants Breanna to suffer. A brilliant villain, he knows the best way to do this is to go for her weak underbelly. He intends to make her watch Stacie die before he then kills Breanna. The stakes become all the more desperate when Stacie and Damen return from their trip and announce that Stacie is expecting. Not only does Breanna have to worry about keeping her beloved cousin safe from the assassin's gun, she now has an unborn child to consider.
Ever the devoted husband and soon-to-be-father, Damen is determined to do everything in his power to keep his family safe. He calls upon an old friend, Royce Chadwick, to help track down the mysterious assassin before he can pull the trigger. The depth and breadth of the assassin's depravity is astounding. He is brilliant and fearless...but Royce must be even more cunning if he is to save the life of the woman he has come to love.
What follows is an intense game of cat and mouse which kept me on the edge of my seat. I swear I was drowning in anxiety the entire time I read this book! Kane does such a brilliant job with creating palpable tension and moving the plot along. There was nothing stagnant about this book. I was as desperate as the characters to see what the assassin would do next, when and where he would strike. The plot was brilliant and the assassin was terrifying. It was an impossible situation, especially when Kane did such a great job of closing any loopholes and avenues Stacie and Breanna may have had to escape the fate intended for them.
I enjoyed seeing Breanna come into her own in this story, but she did still seem to remain true to the character we saw in the first book. She is soft-spoken and seems fragile, but it hides a quick intelligence and strong soul. This is what causes Royce to fall for her. He was adamant from the very beginning that he detests weakness and shows of tears. It is no wonder he is impressed when he meets Breanna and finds no wilting flower. However. I will say that this was just about all I could come up with as to why Royce fell for her. There wasn't much from his perspective in regards to this transition (though we did see inside his mind a great deal more than we did Damen's in the first book), so it wound up feeling like a bit more of a leap than it should have. In fact, it actually suspended escape into the story quite a bit. The same went for Breanna's attraction to Royce. We saw that she was physically attracted to him, but what else was there? I suppose I wanted a bit more about about why and how they fell in love to make this a tad bit more believable. It could have been as simple as showing some interactions between them which weren't all about tracking down the assassin. Their coming together and declarations of love felt far more abrupt than they probably should have been.
I enjoyed seeing more of Damen and Stacie, though I will say that they felt a little bit "hollow." Damen was reduced to a stereotypical overly-protective husband. I wanted to see his quick mind and wit. Stacie was more reserved as well. I might attribute this to her wanting to protect her unborn child and experiencing the woes of the first trimester, but I can't blame it fully on that. I realize they were not the center of attention in this book, but I wanted to see the glimmer of their characters here as well.
The chapters from the assassin's perspective were brilliant. I loved how dark and sinister they felt and I truly enjoyed seeing the way his mind worked. He really was an evil genius adept in terrorizing his victims to their cores. Kane shielded him perfectly and I had no idea who he was until the characters did.
The overall plot was extremely complex and far grander than I could have imagined. This book clearly took an extraordinary amount of work and planning to execute. For this, I commend Kane. She wrote brilliantly and kept me interested from the very first page. I waited for the final confrontation with a tremendous amount of anticipation. I suppose I wanted a bit more than I was given when it came to revealing the assassin, but I suppose it all worked out for the best.
As a minor note (which I hope doesn't give too much away), I did find the very last chapter to be a tad bit too "Brady Bunch" for my personal tastes. I'm sure not everyone will feel this way, but I did feel the need to mention it.
Overall, I did like this series quite a bit. I enjoyed the blend of romance, mystery, and suspense. I was never bored and, for the most part, I found the characters to be interesting and the style to be captivating. I made a few notes about the romance between the male and female leads in each of these books, but these are by no means deal breakers. I recommend this series to any lover of romance who is looking to liven up their reading material!
You need to read The Gold Coin first to understand what's going on. For some reason, the author doesn't divulge the full story about Breanna's father. I'm not sure why she doesn't take two paragraphs to sum up what we already know from the first book, that her father was in the white slave business.
This romance storyline is very similar to the first book. The romance happens too fast and there's too many sex scenes.
At one point Breanna takes off on her own to help solve the case, which was ridiculously stupid under the circumstances, and then, at the end of the book, she does it again but this time she brings her cousin along. That just made no sense to me.
Overall, however, I think people will enjoy the set.
There's a plot hole in this book you could drive a truck through and I couldn't get past it. I kept wanting to shout at the characters. As a romance, it was so-so. If you're looking for a book to read in bed that won't make you want to stay up to 3 am to find out what happened, this is a good choice. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother . . .
A Much More Interesting Sequel to the series. The story was far more interesting and it’s conclusion satisfying and latterly, entertaining.
However, to a lesser degree to its prequel, it still got bogged down in the latter part, taking too long to resolve (or at least to my mind it did) and the way in which it was resolved was highly improbable.
I listened to the audiobook version of this title, well read by Flora MacDonald. This was an Audible membership free read, so it was a lovely bonus book.
I read this when I was in my teens and the scenes were astonishing to my imagination. I'm talking about every aspect, from the stalking moments of the assassin to the quiet still moments of Breanna's thoughts and dilemmas.
Andrea has such a way to make me fill the thrills and anxious moments the characters are experiencing. I was holding my breathe when Breanna entered the room knowing that it had been tainted and my gosh, the chills just went down my back.
This is my first time reading it after the first book and it is much more fulfilling and enriching. But this is downright my favourite in this series.
I love the smartness of Royce Chadwick and his charms and how he cannot help be entranced by Lady Breanna. The tactics involved to solve the mystery before its too late was confusing but it was very interesting once I could decipher it.
Perhaps this was where I have a thing for period and thriller novels until now. Was such a good read!
This is book # 2 of the Coin Series by Andrea Kane. This is the story of the cousin Breanna from The Gold Coin, and the revenge of the assassin she shot to save Stacy in book # 1. A very nice romance with mystery inter woven in the story. Nice plot, great characters. If you prefer the audio format, Flora MacDonald does an excellent job narrating! 😍
Great ending to the story of two cousins. Started with The Gold Coin then came to The Silver Coin. Enjoyed the story. The first one got you to wanting more and this one finished the story. Enjoyed!!
This book continues the first book The Gold Coin,. This book, however, is at leat 10 chapters to long. It just droned on and on with useless information, I was so relieved to finish it, then there was an epilog 《sigh》
Silver Coin is book 2 in the Colby's Coin Series. It follows Gold Coin. Breanna has been starting the construction of her cousin's house while Anastasia is on her honeymoon. She has drawn pictures of what she thinks the house will look like and the building is coming along. Wales the butler in the mean time has been planning a party to celebrate both girls being 21 now and welcome home party for Damen and Anastasia. Breanna and Anastasia have always been close even though thier fathers hated each other. Anastasia was living in America for 14 years they still wrote long letters to each other. They look like identical twins. Thier fathers were twins and thier moms were sisters who look like each other close. The assins who tried to kill Stacie but Breanna shot the gun out of his hand. Is now back in London ready to finsh the job. First he plans to terrorize Breanna and then kill her cousin right in front of her. Then he will kill Breanna one shot each to the heart. Breanna has blossomed since her father was put in prison. She is speaking her mind more and visiting others. One day she opened a package and inside it where two dolls that had thier coloring with red paint on the heart with a letter threatening both her and Stacie. Damen when they get home and hears that the killer is going to try and kill his wife again goes to a friend and hires him to catch the killer. Royce Chadwick agrees but also says he has to finsh a case he has been working on too. Royce can not keep his eyes off Breanna. He tells her to go on with the party they are planning that will keep the killer wanting to get more reaction from her. If she can do that it will give him more time to figure out who he is. Thier are a lot of love scenes in this book. The suspense is good and did not let you know who the killer was till the end. Breanna has really grown so much with her father in prison. She and Stacy are still really close and are living in the same house till their own house on the grounds are built. I do enjoy reading Andrea Kane's novels and will continue to read them in the future. I was given this ebook to read in exchange of honest review from Netgalley. 10/02/12 PUB Open Road

A shadowy figure had sworn revenge against Lady Breanna Colby at the end of The Gold Coin, and has recently put the revenge plan in motion. A revenge that starts with threatening letters and gifts, terrorizing Breanna, and will end when both cousins, Anastasia first and Breanna last, are dead at his feet.
But the assassin didn't count with the fact Damen Lockewood's friend, an expert in finding people who don't want to be found, Royce Chadwick. Royce is very good at what he does, but now he has an added incentive to win—Breanna Colby.
This was another great suspense novel set in the Regency era with a very determined killer stalking his victim, terrorizing her with notes and gifts. The romantic sub-plot was once more relegated into the background, which was good, since, as in the previous book, it didn't bring much to the table. It was once more rather forced, and quite jarring in comparison with the main arc of the story, deterring from the plot instead of enhancing it.
The second problem was the pacing. The second half of the story was too slow and plodding, decreasing the tempo instead of increasing it as the story came to a fold.
Still, the characters were nicely developed, the friendships sounded genuine and the connection between the cousins was nicely written.
I enjoyed this follow up to Kane's The Gold Coin. It was great to get a story that focused on Breanna, and Royce Chadwick was a great match for her. I liked Breanna, although I found her tendency to race off and try to catch the killer they were after to be pretty annoying. Royce was a great character, protective, and a bit enigmatic. He had great patience with Breanna, and was a very capable man. I enjoyed the storyline, and it kept my attention throughout the book.
Breanna Colby shot the hand of the man who tried to kill her cousin Anastasia several months ago. Now, he has started sending her threatening letters to tell her how he is going to make her suffer before he kills her. Damen Lockewood, now married to Anastasia, brings in Royce Chadwick to try to find the would be assassin. Royce has made a career out of finding people. As the danger to Breanna comes closer and gets more serious with a series of murders, Royce does his best to keep her safe and to find the madman behind the happenings.
This book was a good sequel to The Gold Coin. I liked seeing Anastasia and Damen again, and it was great to read Breanna's story. After being such a docile and obedient young lady for so long, it was surprising to see how she risked herself by going into dangerous situations a couple of times. I liked the interaction between she and Royce, and thought that the book had a strong storyline. I received this book as an ARC from Netgalley.
Ahhhhhhhh! I still love this story so much! Watching Breanna Colby come into her own after the abuse she suffered at the hands of her father. Watching her learn to lean on someone else, to trust someone and allow someone else to carry her burdens with her. Bonas for having that person be a one Mr. Lord Royce Chadwick. Can you say winning?
I don't know what it is about Royce but, I love him. He's strong and sweet. Gentle and rough. Tough and charming. He's all charism and badassery rolled into one tall dark and handsome package.
And their chemistry?! Like, what? I adore them together! He's such an amazing steady presence in her life and she's just thing to bring out that other side of him, the one that longs for roots and family and it's just...UGH! Watching them help each other overcome their childhood trauma. Chief's fucking kiss.
Loved seeing Stacie and Damen and Wells again also with the new and so welcome addition of Hibbert.
And the ending?! Full circle absolute beautifulness. Could I even ask for more? I mean yes, but this was everything!
Romance, thriller, STEAM, murder and a lovely HEA that completes both stories? This book has it all!
Having read many more romance novels since I first read this, I can see that the quality of it is somewhat lacking. That being said, I still think it is an excellent book (especially for me!). Sometimes, I don't want all the relationship angst. I just want H/h to get together, know they love each other and overcome the external obstacles. And that's what this book is about. The Hero, Royce meets Breanna, our heroine when the family run out of options with an assassin threatening the ladies, Breanna and Anastasia. Royce is something of a private investigator and agrees to take the case using unconventional means. Breanna has been raised in a rather abusive household and is strong as steel and Royce admires the hell out of her for it. There are so few obstacles to these two coming together and it was something of a refreshing change. Some people may prefer more angst, I wasn't in the mood for it and can still appreciate it. (Although sometimes I like the obstacles to be there - I liked that this book removed them). So there.

"The Silver Coin" by Andrea Kane is set in England in the early 1800's. It is the second historical romance/suspense that I have read by this author and the sequel to "The Gold Coin" which I thoroughly enjoyed. This story focuses on Breanna and Royce. With her violent father now locked away in jail, hoping to carry on with her life and pursue her dreams, Breanna finds an evil from her past stalking both her and her cousin Anastasia. The Colby's turn to unconventional Royce Chadwick, England's foremost expert on finding people that don't want to be found, and enlist his help to find the assassin that is terrorizing the lives of the young women. As Breanna and Royce face danger side by side they are drawn together as they hunt for the assassin that is threatening their lives and future together. I enjoyed this novel and look forward to more by Andrea Kane in the near future.
I enjoy this book. It has become one of my go-to reads, along with its companion and prequel, The Gold Coin. Kane has crafted enjoyable characters with just enough fear, tension, and mystery to forward the relationships among them. This book continues and expands on the mystery of the assassin and the human trafficking that was introduced in The Gold Coin. I would definitely recommend reading that one first if you haven't yet. Together, the pair of books introduces you to Anastasia and Breanna, and walks you through their romantic awakenings as well as the challenges they must go through to finally have the happy families they desire.
I suppose one can just enjoy the book simply for its thriller element spiced with some juicy bed scenes. but, after reading this, i must admit that it wasnt that satisfactory. i really cant put my finger on where exactly it was lacking but...maybe...there needed to be more passion/emotion and a bit more focus on the romance facet, rather than on the hunt for the bad guy.
suffice to say, though, it's not really one of ms. kane's masterful novels, but it's not that terrible either. lol ",)
Andrea Kane favori yazarlarımdan biri oldu kesinlikle.
I enjoyed this thrilling mystery. I particularly like historical romances and the mystery kept me engaged in this one. It was difficult to figure out who the antagonist was in this novel. I generally enjoy trying to determine the outcome before the end of the book. I wasn't able to do so this time.
As good as the first one, this novel involves Brianna and Royce, that loses himself trying to save her from the killer that is trying to kill her and her cousin.
