Scraps

Noted rock photographer/musician Michael Galinsky tours the country with indie rock band Sleepyhead (he's their bass player) and he always has his camera close to hand. Scraps is a collection of black-and-white photos that documents the places he's seen, the floors they've crashed on, the bands they've played with--plus friends and strangers they met along the way in the underground music community. Subjects include Fugazi, Bikini Kill, Rodan, the Make Up, Beat Happening, Kicking Giant, Love Child, Slant 6, and many more. Galinsky's photographs draw equally on Robert Frank's "on the road" images in The Americans and Nan Goldin's candid pictures of her intimate circle. The book also includes writing by Tim Foljahn, Sam Lipsyte, Robert Reynolds, Sean Meadows, Cynthia Nelson, Gene Booth, Tara Key, Tae Won Yu, Chris O'Rourke, and Alan Licht. In addition to the writing, many bands and individuals contributed songs to a CD that is packaged inside the book. The track listing is as
