LGBT Paranormal Shape-shifter
Rougaroux Social Club; Previous Bayou's End

After spending a hot, no-holds-barred sex-filled weekend at a hotel with a man he only knows as Mark, werewolf Bobby Cotteau isn’t sure but he thinks he’s found a new mate. Problem is he never got his lover’s real name. Or his phone number, or even where he lives. But that’s not Bobby’s only problem.

Mark is Professor Mark Bradford, and he’s spent his career as a zoologist trying to prove there are wolves living in the swamps around St. Jerome. If he can do this, he’ll make a name for himself, restore his reputation and maybe even name them after his father, who was killed by a wolf during a camping trip in the swamp with a teenaged Mark. But after a weekend of the best sex of his life, Mark’s fallen hard for Bobby, but without the man’s real name, he has no hopes of ever seeing him again. And the longer they’re apart, the more desperate he is to find Bobby. It’s like he’s under some kind of spell.

Meanwhile, at the Rougaroux Social Club’s yearly Rugarou Festival, which Bobby is in charge of, everything is falling apart. The forecast is for storms, the Virgin Mary has appeared a tree on the festival grounds at the church, pilgrims are swarming, and beer is being sold... and his new mate is about to expose Bobby’s pack to the world.

(1)gay romance

I’m from New Orleans, that’s N’awlins for those of you who speak the language. I grew up in the Riverbend, or Carrollton, for the old timers, but was a Quarter rat from the age of 11, taking 3 buses to go to art class on Burgundy Street at the Cabrini Doll Museum and NORD center. I attended University of New Orleans and have a BA in Fine Art. My mother worked at Tulane University, six blocks from our house and when we were kids my brother and I parked cars in our driveway for the Saints games at Tulane Stadium. We could get six cars down the drive, two on the front lawn, and two on the street and we only charged $2 a car. We made enough to buy a coupla roast beef po’boys at Comeaux’s on Hickory St. and a snowball over at Williams Snow Ball Stand. We lived 1/2 a block from a cemetery, but doesn’t everyone in N’awlins? We used to watch jazz funerals from our front porch.

Now, my family lives in Katy, Texas. I have a “real” job, a truly supportive and understanding husband, two incredible kids, and a slightly neurotic dog. We used to have a guinea pig, but the dog killed it. Did I say slightly?

My son is 15 and has Asperger’s Syndrome (high functioning Autism) and Crohn’s Disease, and is a constant lesson in patience, acceptance and managing expectations. He’s super smart, loves video games, fencing, movies, building with legos, and hanging around the house. Like me, he believes that it’s all about him. Sometimes, I wonder if I don’t have Asperger’s, too. Oh, and he’s very handsome.

My daughter, 13, is so creative it’s scary- she loves to paint, draw manga and anima, build dioramas with any box she can get her hands on, create worlds with legos and then make movies with them, sculpt people, animals and objects with those little twist ties from the grocery store, does pottery, and wants to be a lifeguard. And she’s smart, too. And
beautiful, inside and out.

I write for a few hours in the evenings and on weekends as much as I can, without neglecting my family. (That laughter you hear is my husband) I attend a critique group, and do whatever the kids are into at the time.

So the real story DID start after 20% of sex scenes *lol*.

Yup, this story started its first 5 chapters with marathon-like sex scenes between Bobby and Mark (for two guys in his 50s and 40s respectively, their stamina was ADMIRABLE *lol*). I was ready to bitch -- well, I did moan about this fact to a friend, who gently reminded me that "Ami, you know Lynn Lorenz's stories are smutty, right?". *head desk*. Yeah, I know, my fault this time ^^. BUT, I enjoy shifter stories and the previous two books were okay (I'm a sucker for series), so I decided to continue....

After those two sexy weekends, Bobby and Mark were separated for quite awhile. Bobby was busy with his duty as chairman of this year's Rugarou Festival in St. Jerome, which could bring money to the small community. While Mark returned to his academic life, preparing to travel to St. Jerome, in order to prove that swamp wolves exist. While being apart, the two men couldn't stop thinking about the other. Of course, since the two didn't even exchange last names or phone numbers, they had no idea that their lives will reconnect in the most difficult way. Since Bobby was a werewolf and Mark's research would endanger the pack.

Unlike my friend Enny, I actually enjoyed the arrangement of the festival. I didn't find it boring at all. I have interest in reading about small towns and their activities in romance stories. So I loved the craziness that happened while Bobby tried to make the festival a success ... from Scott's Mom attracting pilgrims with the sight of Jesus, to crazy weather, to, well, Mark coming to St. Jerome.

I also thought that the conflict in this book was better than the previous two. The fact that the two main characters are older guys was another plus point.

There were several things that I dislike though:

One, .

Two,

Three,

Four,

Other than that, I enjoyed this okay. It was nice to read how the characters from the previous books made an appearance. I still felt amused by how Scott defined himself -- he is a NOT a gay man, but his wolf is *lol*.

This is the third installment in the Rougaroux Social Club series. I reviewed the first book and gave it 4.25 stars, and loved the concept that the hero’s wolf was gay, but not the man. This is a theme throughout the books, or: “The wolf wants what the wolf wants.” An interesting twist on the Gay-For-You trope in my opinion.

Bayou Loup is Bobby Cotteau’s story. The former sheriff and alpha of St. Jerome finally finds love a few years after his wife and mate dies. While Bobby always knew he was gay, his wolf fell in love with his wife, they mated and they were happy for many years until her passing. But now Bobby has the chance to explore his homosexuality and first time out, he meets Mark Bradford and they agree to a strings-free weekend fling…that winds up turning into a couple of weekends as their chemistry is off the charts. As Bobby slowly begins to realize that Mark is his true mate, Mark’s past threatens the St. Jerome pack...and Bobby’s very life.

As with the other books, I thought Ms. Lorenz’s take on werewolf bonding/mating was unique. Scott Dupree from the first book (Bobby’s successor as alpha in the pack) was straight, but when he met his mate his wolf wanted the other man and as much as Scott fought it, in the end, the mating bond and love won out. In this version, Bobby knew he was gay, had sexual encounters with other men, but once his wolf met his future wife, that was it. Bobby got married and was very happy until she died. Here comes the second unique concept: an unmated wolf slowly dies, or turns rogue and is put down by the pack. So, when Bobby meets Mark and realizes they are mates, it is life and death for him that his wolf claim Mark. In my estimation, Ms. Lorenz has created a distinctive mythology in the wolves of St. Jerome that bucks the traditional werewolf tropes.

But despite my great love for the world building in this series, there were some issues with characterization that ultimately brought the book’s rating down for me. While readers of the series have a background on Bobby, we get little characterization on Mark until the near end of the book. The first 30% of Bayou Loup is the sex between Mark and Bobby, and while completely hot, I never understood why Bobby’s wolf fell in love with Mark. The men know very little about each other outside of the bedroom. And while I love Instana-Love/Mates as much as the next shifter fanatic, I wanted more interaction that did not involve sex to draw me into Mark and Bobby’s relationship.

Now, my favorite character from the series, Mrs. Dupree (Scott’s mom) is back and causing trouble, plus Scott and his partner Ted make appearances, so fans of those characters will be happy, but overall I was a little disappointed with Bobby’s story. That is not saying I am not recommending this book because I am, but be aware there are still some aspects of the book that failed to live up to book one’s brilliance in my opinion.

*sigh* Well this one was a bit of a disappointment, I was hoping it would be more like Bayou Dreams but it missed that mark. It seemed way too predictable and lacked that thing that draws me to a book and makes me love it, whatever that is.

Bobby and Mark were great, I think I liked them so much because of their age I haven’t read many books where the MC’s are older it was a nice change. That werewolf insta-love, you’re my mate thing was there but it had just a little too much sex and not enough story. There was no real drama, no mystery, no heart thumping OMG what's going to happen next, just an easy man meets man, men fall for each other and pretty much wham-bam their mates for life, end of story.

So while I didn’t dislike it there wasn’t anything remarkable about it just an easy shifter story with its usual HEA ending.

UPDATE Oct 3, 2020

Doing a reread of this series to bring me up to speed for book #4 Bayou des Enfants

I don't have anything to add to my original review. I may have enjoyed this a bit more than I did my first read through but overall I feel the same.

Now, looking forward to book #4 Bayou des Enfants

Werewolf Bobby Cotteau is a widower, having lost his wife and mate three years ago. Although Bobby loved his wife, Carol, and was faithful to her, he is a gay man. Now with his new-found freedom, Bobby is exploring his sexuality. After spending a hot, no-holds-barred sex-filled weekend at a hotel with a man he only knows as Mark, Bobby thinks he may have found his new mate. The problem is he never got his lover’s real name, phone number, address, or any identifiable information so he could find him again. But that’s not Bobby’s only problem ...

Mark is Mark Bradford, professor of zoology at the university. When Mark was a teen, he and his father were camping in the swamps when his father was attacked by a lone wolf. The attack caused his father to suffer a fatal heart attack. Since then, Mark has spent his career trying to prove there are wolves living in the swamps around St. Jerome. If he can do this, he’ll make a name for himself, restore his reputation and maybe even name them after his father. After their shared weekend, Mark has fallen hard for Bobby, but without the man’s real name, he has no hopes of ever seeing him again.

This year Bobby is in charge of the Rougaroux Social Club’s Rugarou Festival and everything is falling apart. The forecast calls for storms, Jesus has been sighted in the rings of a tree branch, pilgrims are swarming to get a glimpse, and the beer is flowing. To make matters worse, Bobby's new mate is about to expose Bobby’s werewolf pack to the world.

This book was okay. The first 20% of the book is sex ... hot sex ... but sex, sex, sex. Well, to be fair, Bobby and Mark attended a festival for a bit ... and then went back to having mind-blowing sex. Once we get past the first weekend, the story really diverges. Since Bobby and Mark agreed to keep things impersonal, they go their separate ways and spend most of the book apart. They have one more encounter and agree to meet up again but still don't exchange contact numbers. It's pretty frustrating since a lot could have been resolved had they communicated with each other beyond what they wanted to do to each other in bed. I liked that Bobby was 50+ and Mark was 40+. Kudos to Lorenz for making these two characters!

I would have rated this book higher except I didn't like how the ending was handled.

Bottom line: a mediocre ending to the Rougaroux Social Club series.

From the moment Lynn Lorenz introduced the character of Bobby in the first installment of the 'Rougaroux Social Club' series, I knew, I just knew, there was going to be something he was hiding and that he would get his own story. In the second book, Bobby outed himself to a very small number of people and they certainly aren't going to say anything. So Bobby is still hiding his true self, even though he's the former sheriff, the former alpha and a former husband. I knew the author would continue on the path of great writing, strong characters, and I was crossing my fingers that Scott's maman would be up to no good.

Bobby, as I said, is the former sheriff of St. Jerome, and the former alpha of the wolf pack, the Rougaroux Social Club. He is an elder of the pack and his wisdom is dearly respected. His wife died several years before, and he loved her and grieved horribly when she passed, but the truth is he's had to hide being gay for most of his life. His wolf wanted a woman as mate, so when he met Carol, they mated and had twenty years together. Now Bobby figures it's time for the man to have what he wants. Granted, it's been decades since he's been with a man.

Mark is a professor who takes one look at Bobby in the hotel bar and says "I want me some of that!" And, who could blame him? Bobby is hot!

What a great book. I’m so afraid of shapeshifer/paranormal book these days, they are usually so poorly written, but damn this book was absolutely great.
Bayou Loup starts with a great, hot, amazingly sexy weekend of sex between two strangers. What was meant to be a simple one-night stand, just a hook-up between two guys, escalated to mind-blowing, beyond their wildest imagination lovemaking.
Bobby never intended to go that far. For him it was his last chance to feel what he had for 25+ years been denying. A gay man trap in a straight mating bond. He could not deny his wolf back then what it wanted, but now he’d live what left of his life in his true self. But Mark proved to be so much more. Bobby knew in his head that he should let the man go after their earth-shattering first time, he simply couldn’t. No names, no personal information, no nothing except this little time, and Bobby intended to make the most of it. His wolf strangely enough felt the same way.
And God, Mark had never meant to let the man practically manhandle him, it was supposed to be a fast grinding, a getting off and out of the door just like every other time, but this man awakened a side of him that wanted to simply let go and be taken care of. Something about Bobby called to him and Mark didn’t want for this weekend to end.
However it did and Bobby went back to his pack, his duty and his obligations. His soul hollowing with want for Mark, Bobby starts to realize that he found his true mate, a miracle in itself, if Bobby could get hold of Mark and talk to him, ask him to be his mate, than his dreams would finally come true. A second chance in life, a second chance to live it as a gay man, truly happy and in harmony with his wolf.

What a story, how beautifully written, what a journey this was for me. I must admit that although this is the third book of the series, it’s the first one I read, and boy does it stands alone with pride. I’m completely hooked and looking forward to reading the previous and the next if there’s more to come.
Totally recommended, I’m certain you’ll enjoy it.

I like this one better than the previous installment. The conflicts felt better drawn and handle. The couple from the first book, Scott and Ted as well as Scott's mother have some page time which were nice and perhap more relevant than to also include Billy and Peter to the same extend.

There were some plot point that got neglected

I also have a slight dismay at Ms. Lorenz flirting with

This book was better than book 2 (Bayou's End) but again, not as good as book 1 (Bayou Dreams). The angst was less contrived but the sexual stamina was a bit WTF-ery...any man (or woman) who can tolerate 8+ sessions of anal sex in 24 hours must have a rectum made of Teflon! Aside from that, I liked Bobby's character & I was happy he got another HEA...it would have been nice to get more of Marks back story but aside from that, it is a solid read.

2.5 stars! *sigh*

What is happening with this series? The first book was really good, the second one is ok and then there's this. Except for the 2 weekends they spent together, Mark and Bobby didn't really have much interaction. And the ending with the pack meeting was too cushy. I really hope the next one is better.

A Joyfully Jay Review

I liked this installment of the Rougaroux Social Club series. It’s a good story that kept me captivated from the start. What I liked most was the maturity of the characters. Bobby is in his early fifties and Mark is in his forties. Don’t me wrong, I love a good, hot romance between some twenty-somethings and thirty-somethings, but sometimes it’s nice to see an author step out of that comfort zone and give readers a little variety. And that’s just what Lynn Lorenz did with this book.

As with the other books, these characters are well-written and relatable and sexy. Bobby and Mark are wonderful characters. Like I said, I most like the maturity level. Their relationship is a bit of a tug of war, a struggle. It’s full of decisions from both men that will either make or break their relationship. There are several ups and downs that kept me engrossed in the story.

As with the previous two books, the secondary characters help make this story and the world even better. And the continuation of Darlene Dupree, Scott’s mother, and her comedic storyline is so entertaining. And this world continues to get better and better as each story moves on.

This mystery storyline in this book is different from the other books in this series. It’s an interesting and refreshing change in comparison to the previous books. I truly enjoyed the feeling of this book all around.

One of my complaints lies within my favorite aspect of this book. We all know the age of the MCs is one of my favorite parts, but sometimes the dialogue seemed a little young and I felt it was a little less believable. And second, the first part of this book is Bobby and Mark having sex – a lot of sex, a lot of the time. And then they lose touch for the longest time, I see how the story needed them separated for that period of time; I think would have liked to see them together longer in the end to develop their relationship more, really get to know each other and not just have sex. Maybe it’s because I just like them together, I wanted to see more of them in a relationship.

In the end, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. The creative world, the wonderful characters, the entertaining storyline all combines to give readers an escape by means of this book, this entire series, really. I recommend this book to all who love the paranormal genre – shifters and mates in general, and to those who love variety in characters. It’s a wonderful story, and I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.

This is the third in the Rougaroux Social Club series and it starts off with a bang! Bobby, former alpha of the pack, is a widower and at age 51 he's finally ready to explore his sexual interest in men. He cruises the bar of the hotel where he is staying to attend a festival similar to one he's about to chair in his hometown, and meets Mark, a 40 something with a hot body and a shared instant attraction. They spend the weekend together in a marathon of sex, burning up the sheets. They've agreed beforehand not to share any personal information, other than first names, and both come to regret that as time goes by and they have no way of contacting each other. A few weeks later, they see each other again at the same bar. Seems both have been missing each other to extremes and decided to try the bar and hope they meet again. They spend another erotic night together but stupidly, both determine that they should keep their personal information to themselves.

The story follows Bobby as he's preparing to chair the Rougaroux Festival in St. Jerome and Mark as he prepares to follow his dream of finding evidence that wolves exist in the swamps around St. Jerome by spending the weekend camping out in the area. Mark is not aware that Bobby is one of many werewolves living in the area, and Bobby is not aware that Mark is a professor of zoology whose life ambition has been to prove the existence of the wolves.

To find out what happens, and whether or not there's hope for their future, is a good reason for reading this story. I loved it and found it to be much more interesting, and perhaps more well-written, than the previous book in the series. Mark and Bobby are hot together and the author did a fantastic job in developing their individual characters.

This one is a definite future re-read for me. It's fast paced with an interesting storyline and a few very erotic encounters. I definitely highly recommend it to all who love Lynn Lorenz, or werewolves, or just love a great hot m/m romance.

This is book three in the series, and even though I’m reading in order I do feel you should as well. There is a lot of overlap between characters and plots. Although the author does a pretty good job giving you a back story if you decide you don’t want to read one.
This one mainly focuses on Bobby, the retired sheriff and pack leader; he’s early fifties and lost his wife three years ago. The way this works, once a mated wolf loses his mate they slowly start dying unless they find another. Bobby has always been gay, well at least the man, but the wolf decided to mate with a women. Now that she is gone, he has decided to try to do what he has been denying himself for thirty years. He heads to a bar in a town a couple of hours away in hopes to satisfy this itch. Mark, a prof. at the local university happens to have the same itch and spots Bobby, buys a him a drink and they start what they both want, which is a down and dirty weekend. Unfortunately, things don’t work out according to plan.
I loved Bobby’s story! I enjoyed the fact that we didn’t shy away from the age factor. And that we also found him a nice normally aged person to fall in love with him. No way would our Bobby go for someone half his age. I loved that he had to stand by his principals no matter what and didn’t just flip a switch and change personalities just too hold onto Mark. I enjoyed Mark, and knowing that this deep dark secret has been festering for so long and finally he lets it out only to be crushed. But yet because both characters are mature enough they can work through all this. And then all the normal suspects are still there, causing havoc.

This may have been my least favorite book on the series. I wasn't excited about getting Bobby's story, and then he reminded me of my grandpa, which is not what I want in an mm romance. That said, unless your grandpa is also a Cajun from Lake Charles, you probably won't have that issue.

I initially (in book 1) liked the idea of the wolf and person have different sexualities, but it's starting to just seem as if the author hasn't heard of bisexuality.

I also had some problems with the world building. For example, I had no memory of how mating worked in this world. Was it official when they first had sex, or did they need to bite each other, or what? And then it turned out that they apparently just needed to say "I claim you," but I had no memory of that happening in the previous books, and I read them back to back. This book was also the first to mention that the clothes shifted when the weres did.

I also thought the book had some contradictions. For example, Bobby repeatedly said that he had loved and desired his wife, but he takes every opportunity to talk about how being with a man is a much better. Then there was a weird moment when Mark said that he hadn't been into rough sex before Bobby, but, at the very beginning of the book, he had talked about hoping to find a guy who would throw him around like he wanted.

Also, I had some problems with the writing. For example, the first 20% of the book was all sex and no plot. Later, the author occasionally decided to recap events with a lot of telling instead of showing.

Heads up for bestiality on the last page, which makes dropping the book then pointless.

Former sheriff, pack alpha and now widower werewolf Bobby has decided to live his remaining time as the gay man he was born to be. Bobby ventures to a gay bar in Lake Charles and there he meets Mark as well as discovers that Mark is Bobby’s mate. Bobby is confused to say the least; it is not often that werewolves find a second true mate, not to mention his wolf choosing a man this time when the first mate chosen by his wolf was a female.

Bayou Loup is the third book in the Rougaroux Social Club series. This episode is an absolute tear-jerker romance. The characters are enormously compassionate. Bobby is well respected in the pack because he sincerely gives respect to others, plus Bobby is so easy to like. The only thing Bobby has kept hidden from the pack is the fact that he is gay. Bobby knows that claiming Mark would save his life, yet Bobby refuses to influence any of Mark’s decisions regarding their relationship. Bobby and Mark are well matched in bed, as well as out of bed. Mark is a zoology professor and his favorite animals to study is the wolves. Learning Bobby is a wolf shifter changes Mark’s goal from publicizing his findings on the swamp wolf to a more private undocumented study of Bobby.

Lynn Lorenz has created a marvelous saga that I thoroughly enjoyed. The blend of intimacy, humor and emotional warmth displayed by all of the characters is superb.

Advisory: This series is best read in sequence.

This is book three in the Rougaroux Social Club. This book focuses on Bobby who is the older, retired alpha of the pack. We have gotten to know him from both of the first two books. Bobby was married to a woman for many years as this is what his wolf wanted. The man always knew he was attracted to men. (This is a really unqiue aspect to this series. The man and his wolf may not have the same sexual orientation leading to all kinds of problems). Bobby sneaks away to gay bars sometimes and this one weekend he meets Mark who is a professor at a local college. The men have what is supposed to be a no strings weekend but they both leave with stronger feelings than they would like. It gets more complicated because Mark's area of research is on wolves and proving that wolves do live in the bayou.

I think this was my favorite book in this series. The characters are a little older and more mature. They have an interesting story going through the book and their relationship took time to develop. These two were great together and the sex scenes were really steamy. We see all the other guys from the previous books as well as some of the side characters like alpha's kooky mom. She causing trouble again in ways only she can.

This was a really enjoyable and super steamy read. If you're a fan of the series it's a must read. While these books are probably better if you've read the prior ones it is not a must. This can be read as a stand alone.

I really hate to give a 1-star to Lynn Lorenz, because so far her books have all been pretty decent in the comfy 2-star zone. This one though...

For almost 60% of the book the MCs weren't together. For the 40% that they WERE together, they were having sex, sex, and more sex. The first 20% was all sex before any attempt of a story even appeared, and then they were separated for most of the book.

This makes it so that there's zero development to their relationship. Not only are we supposed to take it for granted that they are in love, we're not even treated to scenes of them BEING in love. They just are. So what do you read about instead?

- Bobby running a festival
- Jesus-crazy pilgrims
- Mark's research
- Mark's dead dad
- Mark's dean
- Scott fending off Jesus-crazy pilgrims
- Scott's crazy mom encouraging Jesus-crazy pilgrim
- Bobby trying to talk his church into selling beer for profit

If in nowhere in that do you see 'Mark and Bobby sitting in a tree', it's because they never were.

After such a long wait to finally have a chance to be who he really is, Bobby hooks up with Mark. By the end of the weekend (and some super hot sex) Bobby knows in his heart, even if he doesn't admit, that Mark is the new it. But since he's not ready to accept that he walks away. Then a few months go by and they are both feeling the loss and return to the scene of the crime and get together again. This time they make plans to meet again but they both have things come up.

I didn't like 'how' Mark's swamp evidence was taken by Bobby. Their confrontation ends with Bobby walking away.. not trying to explain, not trying to make Mark, his mate, understand.. But the end where Bobby introduces his mate and explains how he'd always been this way even with having a mate before that was female, was touching. He declared himself even thou it was hard to face after years of them being unaware.

This one was just okay for me. I like Bobby well enough in the other books, but I guess the problem is that I didn't come to like him any more in this one. He kinda just stayed as that "meh" character for me.

Notice that it's always the young wolves messing everything up and trying to kill people in each of these books? Sneaking around behind the elders backs. Pretty sure there is a lesson or something to be learned here.

Anyway, rambling aside I would recommend this one to anyone who's read the first two book. Because frankly if you've read the first two which are good you might as well just keep going.

It was ok, there was a bunch of stuff that was covered in the story that didn't seem to have any baring on the romance part. Almost like a soap opera but parts didn't match up or maybe I don't understand why I was told that part of the story. Anywho, the MC's were ok, they seemed nice enough. Didn't get the huge 'oh you are the one besides the mating business' which I have to say is my favorite part of the whole shifter deal. This story didn't have that part unless falling in love is based solely on having a c$%k in your a@@. (sorry kinda snarky this evening).

I like the Rougaroux Social Club book 3. Enjoyed the characters as in the other books there is a little angst but it doesn't over power you. It happens and then you move on. Marc and Bobby are older when they meet and do not have intention of becoming a couple - just anonymous sexual encounters, but both realize quickly it is more than that. The story was long enough - moves quickly and kept my interest. I cared about the characters and wanted to read about them. That doesn't always happen to me especially in a series of stories.

I loved it.

I randomly found out that the book was available and as huge sucker for this series dived into it right away. Not disappointed at all.

I love my men with gray hair so this one nailed it totally for me ^_^

Scott's mom usual antics were hilarious and I was happy to see more of Ted in this one since he was AWOL in the previous one.

I'm just ready to know if there's another wolfie coming out in this pack.

One could only wish...

Bobby was a retired sheriff and pack alpha who was married to his female mate. Now that she has died, he can finally move on a be his true gay self. He visits a gay bar and meets slightly younger than him Mark and they hit it off perfectly. They have tons of hot sex and Bobby realizes that Mark is his mate. The plan for the festival are boring and too drawn out. Long story short, they become a mated couple and live happily ever after.

Although the characters were older than I usually read, the story was still plenty steamy. I liked the tension built in to the situation and I love the characters in St. Jerome. The sheriff's mother, quirky Darlene Dupree, provides charming comic relief for her part in the story. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

So this is smut, with shifter and instant attraction but....it's good smut, which makes the difference. It was nice to see that Scott hasn't change a bit and insists that it's his wolf that is gay, mhm, denial much? It's not his wolf having all the sex. ;)

Sorry, but this was my least favorite of the series. Bobby and Mark were apart more than together and when they were together they were humping like rabbits and learning NOTHING about each other. There was no connection, besides a sexual one.

No thanks.

2 Stars for mentioning Janis :)
