SQL is the international standard language for creating and maintaining relational databases. This book is a compendium of information about SQL and relational database design, development, and maintenance. The nine mini-books cover the full spectrum of issues that arise in building, using, and maintaining relational database systems.Book I: SQL Concepts
The Dummies range of books are a bit hit and miss. This one, for me, is a defintie hit!
I now have techniques for how to approach designing a database, some insight into different database models, and understand what the funny symbols for diagramming a database model mean.
Found it really useful, even though I'll probably have to use MySQL.
Oh god this was a long read. I honestly can't believe I studied all 700 pages! I'd definitely recommend this for a good understanding of SQL and some really interesting things on the hardware behind it. Lot's of examples, lot's of different aspects shown. It is a great read! Just so hard to fit an one head securely, so that nothing falls back out! All in all: Good examples Lots of theory Everything I could think of on SQL/DB's explained I mean he doesn't go into the deepest tech details but those change like basically all the time, so you're definitely good reading this...brick.
