Speed read

This is a really quick and easy read but that's the only thing good I can say about it. The main character is despicable and I just could not root for her.

I liked the idea of this story and think it could've been something really good, but the execution left a lot to be desired.

What was missing the most, for me, was a connection to the story. I think because how the story was written, like a series of rushed journal entries, making that connection was hard. I didn't feel bad about Lacey's situation, didn't feel sad she was left in the cold, didn't even really a twinge of happiness she was with Jansen by the end.

It just needed a lot more to it than it had.

Didn't realize when I downloaded this that the heroine is having an affair with a married man. Yeah, she breaks it off at the beginning of the story, but still. Cheating is a no-go for me. Just glad I got this for free. Next!

Nine days in December started out promising but was too shallow. It is written in the style of a diary entry but instead of giving insight into the protagonist's feelings it just describes the events indifferently.
