Rick and Rose Sinclair Adventure #2

Voyage to Blackbeard’s Island

Rate this book
In 1718, the notorious pirate Blackbeard was captured and killed. But he left no trace of the immense riches he’d plundered during his years pillaging the high seas.

In 1938, antique dealers Rick and Rose Sinclair discover what appears to be a map of an uncharted island sketched in Blackbeard’s hand. With the help of Virginia, a pirate expert, they deem the map authentic, and the most likely place for Blackbeard to have hidden his treasure.

Along with their trusty pilot friend Humphrey, the three set out find the island. But an East Coast mobster is on their tail with his own designs on this trove. And if that isn’t enough danger, Blackbeard had used supernatural assistance setting up defenses around his treasure, and Rick and Rose will find that all of them are as potent as ever.

Rick and Rose have survived some wild adventures, but nothing could prepare them for the terrors of a voyage to Blackbeard’s Island.

A Pirate Story

I felt this one was not as good as the original story in this series. The first one had more tension and the situation seemed more dangerous somehow. That was lacking in this one and I did find myself somewhat distracted while reading this. Especially when I had reached a certain part of the book and well...I just found parts of the story hard to believe. So I lost the ability to believe what was going on. Which was a pity.

This is a pirate story. And since its a pirate story it has many of those same over used ideas. You can probably guess what a few of them are. There is a lot of action in here and deaths. Lots of danger and there were a few twists that certainly surprised me... But ... I did find myself losing interest at the end. The plot and the characters just couldn't hold my interest.

They keep getting better with each new ɓook

Love a good pirate book any time. Rose is so easy to fall for Rick's next adventure. Granted, he sounds so sweet and loveable, he knows words to say to change her mind. Poor Humphrey gets to have an adventure, but no profits Love the. the books

I loved this. The couple Rick and Rose Sinclair put me in mind of the couple in the old classic movies (Nick and Nora Charles) where they have lots of fun and adventure. In fact this would make a great movie. It has great characters, both good guys and bad, and gets into the adventure, the quest for pirate treasure very quickly. Throw in a little witchcraft, lots of interesting history a few oversized creatures, and it's just a delightful page turner that keeps you entertained.

Rick and Rose are great together. He’s kinda wide open and she’s sensible. They went looking for Blackbeard’s treasure and found more then they were expecting. What a fun, creepy ride they went on. Can’t wait to read book 3.

I just finished the prequel to Voyage to Blackbeard’s Island. I really enjoyed how the books started to mesh together. This is a fun series with likable and unlikable characters. Russell James once again proves that he researches and learns all he can before writing his stories. Well done.

Fun

A fun little Blackbeard hidden treasure read. The Sinclairs are up to hijinx again along with buddy Humphrey. Lots of critters and action and a bit of romance. Fun read.

Russell James scores again!

Loved this book. Reminded me a bit of The Goonies with a twist. Rick's sense of humor, coupled with Rose's timely history lessons made for a great read. I don't know why Hollywood focuses so much on remakes when there are so many exciting Russell James books at there.

Russell James writes excellent adventure stories with his Grant Coleman, Kathy West, and now Rick and Rose Sinclair series. In this story, our intrepid 1930s duo head out to Blackbeard's legendary island where they encounter creatures that shouldn't be there - In fact they shouldn't be anywhere except, maybe, in Jurassic Park or Conan Doyle's The Lost World. As if that wasn't enough, there's witchcraft, and plenty of skullduggery on the trail of a fortune in treasure that may - or may not - even exist.

Great entertainment and I am delighted to see that there is more to come from the Sinclairs - and the trusty pen of Russell James.

Black beards island

Sorry to say it's something a 4th grader should read. It was like copying a book from the past and redoing it to get a book out on the amazon market.

Rick and Rose Sinclair are again setting out looking for riches, this time it's pirate treasure they are hunting. Good story, that moves along nicely, with Rick continuing to push his luck.
