Emily Murphy was a Canadian jurist, magistrate and author.

She was a notorious women's rights activist, and together with Henrietta Muir Edwards, Nellie McClung, Louise McKinney and Irene Parlby she was part of "The Famous Five" (aka "The Valiant Five"). She also was the first female magistrate in Canada and in the British Empire (1916).

As a writer, she used the pen name Janey Canuck.
