When Jasper Johnson is selected for the Kingsway United Academy, Alfie Jones and his friends can't help but feel that something isn't quite right. They are convinced that Keith Johnson must have something to do with his son's surprise selection... but what? Alfie is sure that a discarded business card given to him by the mysterious fortune teller Madam Zola somehow holds all the answers he's looking for... but how? As Alfie seeks to find out more about the man named on the card, he becomes increasingly convinced that he's right. But just who is Lenny Fisher and how is he linked to Jasper's good fortune?
David Fuller had his first children's book, Alfie Jones and a Change of Fortune, published in November 2011. In addition to being an FA-qualified football coach, he has worked as a journalist for over ten years, during which time he has written for numerous publications on a variety of different subjects. David lives in Newhaven, East Sussex with his wife, two sons and cat Merry.
As with the other books in the series, while the novel will have great appeal for football fans, being a lover of the game isn't a prerequisite because the story is well-told with an exciting plot that will make young readers want to keep on turning the pages. Author David Fuller's enthusiasm as a soccer coach really comes through in his descriptions of the game and this may well encourage some new players to give the sport a try too. Young boys are undoubtedly the target audience (anything that makes this notoriously reluctant group of readers enthusiastic about books has to be a good thing !) but children of both sexes will enjoy the Alfie Jones books - there's even a girl in Alfie's team to prove the point !
