I enjoyed this view of Gloucester in the 1950s and thereabouts, and what it was like for a boy growing up on the island.

Peter grew up in the same neighborhood where my mom grew up she was eight years older.

His childhood was during World War II before there was a 128 bridge connecting the rest of Gloucester.

He reminded me of how downtown Gloucester was when I was growing up with Woolworth's, Sterlings, Browns, and the other stores.

He had some of the same teachers I had in school growing up even thought I am a lot younger than him

I liked it. A compilation of memoir stories written by a man who grew up in Gloucester, Mass. Funny "boy" stories.
