Power Elites & Organizations

Rate this book
These essays comprise recent theory and research on the role of elites within society. Four empirical studies consider power structures within organizations - corporations, government agencies and private social service agencies. The ways in which private organizations and their leaders relate to government are explored and theoretical essays on the role of elites from different perspectives are presented.

I enjoyed and learned a lot from the introduction to this volume, and I think that it is the most valuable part, especially because the book is thirty years old and many of the case studies in the book chapters are outdated. Part I. Inside the Organization also held my attention, if only for some of its problematic content. The rest of the book was a slog, and I didn't get much from it.
