Matanzas Bay is a unique microcosm of diverse ecosystems and historical events. A thriving tourist metropolitan area as well as habitat for numerous species of wildlife coexist. It is the junction of the Atlantic Ocean via the St. Augustine Inlet and the Tolomato and Matanzas River, crossed by the beautiful Bridge of Lions to Anastasia Island. Most visitors and residents alike overhear the tour guides telling stories of Americas Oldest City, Ponce de León, Pedro Menéndez and Henry Flagler as we travel around town. But this is a new story. A story about St. Augustine from the perspective as seen from the water. There are several venues for exploring the Bay. The easiest and most comfortable is aboard the Victory III harbor cruise which offers an hour and 15 minute narrated excursion.
