These stories are quintessentially Irish. The forward to the book is just as interesting as the stories themselves. His characters are alive with humour and drama. Their conversations engaging and entertaining.I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

This one was patchy. There were some bangers in here such as ‘Persecution Mania’ and ‘Lovers of the Lake’ but i think some other stories haven’t stood the test of time as well. I love scribbling down a few quotes as I read as well but this one was pretty lacking of worthy quotes. A shame as I heard good things of this collection of stories and irish historical fiction such as this is usually way up my alley.
