He was born in Bloemfontein South Africa on 30 December 1964 and was schooled at Grey College, Bloemfontein. At the age of seventeen Boshoff experienced a drastic conversion; as he left his old life of brawling, drugs and alcohol; and became committed to a radical Christian way of life. After school he was enlisted in the South African Defense Force; where he completed a two year service 1982-1984. At the age of twenty one he started with a full-time career in Christian ministry.
Ministry
He started his ministry as an associate pastor in a small Charismatic church in Bloemfontein. In 1988 he set out to a small town called Ladybrand in the eastern Free State province of South Africa, where he started his first church. For the size of this town the church grew phenomenally to over 300 committed members within five years. He also built a beautiful church building cash, to house his congregation. In 1993, due to the onset of few events, he was led to broaden the churches horizons and return to Bloemfontein to start the prominent: Christian Revival Church (CRC) in Bloemfontein. At the end of 1993 the first service of CRC was held in the Red Cross Hall in Bloemfontein with about 180 people. Within 15 years CRC has grown to beyond 30 000 members and is seeing what is known as the Bloemfontein Revival.
CRC has seen more than 500,000 people come through its doors and make decisions to accept Jesus Christ. They see more than 500 people a week make first time decisions in their weekly services. This is notable as the city of Bloemfontein has a population of only 600 000 people.
Further clerical exploits
In this 15 year period Boshoff has started close to 40 churches in South Africa, Southern Africa, United Kingdom, Australia, Ukraine, Germany and USA. These churches all carry the same name and vision as his church in Bloemfontein. In 2005 he started a CRC church in Pretoria, which he pastors simultaneously with the Bloemfontein church. He would start a service at 08:00 in Pretoria and then fly the 450 km trip to Bloemfontein to run the first service at 09:30. The latter service in Bloemfontein would then be broadcasted live to Pretoria for their second service using what is called “live link” technology.
Boshoff is a pioneer using this “live link” technology. This affords churches, in separate locations, the opportunity to tune in live, via broadcast, on big-screens to the services in Bloemfontein. He now broadcasts his services in Bloemfontein to the CRC churches in Pretoria, Kimberley, Durban, Gabarone and Cape Town.
Boshoff associates himself and CRC with Ray McCauley.
Family life
In 1988 Boshoff married Nyretta Gibbons, whom he met in the church in Bloemfontein; where he first got involved. Boshoff’s wife is also involved in his ministry, as the Music, Arts and Ladies departments' executive. They have three children Angelique (1990), David (1991) and Chanelle (1994).
Books & media
Boshoff has authored and released two books: Dream Stealers (2003) and Live a Yes Life (2008). Great demand is placed on Boshoff to preach around the world. He has preached at large churches & conferences in USA, Europe, Australia etc. His TV program, Discover Life, is also broadcast on major South African networks i.e. SABC 2. It is also broadcast on TBN (an international satellite Christian broadcaster).
