Everyone needs a little redemption now and again. Dawn Williams has set the stage for full-blown recovery in her romantic suspense novel, Redemption. Nick "Storm" Maddox, a retired Navy SEAL, has such deep dark secrets that his life nearly slips away from him until his best friend, Kyle, calls him up and asks him to protect his sister, Dr. Summer Benson. As a brilliant trauma surgeon, Dr. Benson sadly comes across a case in which she can't save the dying bride on her table. Summer lives and breathes for her hospital and trauma unit, but this just might lead to her demise as the fiancé of the dead bride threatens her life. Storm blows in and stirs up a fierce tornado of emotions in Summer as he attempts to discover who is trying to kill her, and keep her safe and sound all at the same time. Yet, her physical safety is not the only thing at risk. With Storm staying close in an effort to protect her, Summer stands to risk heartache and pain.
Williams does a nice job of keeping the reader on their toes, especially as the identity of the potential killer is not as clear cut as one might have thought in the beginning. Can Summer and Storm survive the physical danger while braving the perilous state of love, or will they create such a violent summer storm that no one will come out on the other side? Dawn Williams wrote Redemption in a way that keeps the reader turning pages. There may be an occasion here or there that makes the storyline a tad bit unrealistic - for example an incident in which a madman, brandishing a gun, gains access to the operating room - but, overall, Summer and Storm are easy characters to fall in love with, along with Summer's highly protective brother, Kyle. Williams will take the reader on a journey of fear, courage and, ultimately, Redemption.
Typical romance book. Hot male who goes from woman to woman but won't be tied down who oozes maleness and strength. He has demons in his past. Beautiful female that doesn't know she is beautiful and is somewhat naïve, and very independent. Easy to read book but the same basic character makeup of the lead characters that I see in most romance books. The author did a good job of giving the characters some additional depth so it kept me interested. One plot twist that had me guessing for a couple of chapters before I figured it out. I won this book through a Goodreads giveaway.
