I picked this book "Runner" because the cover jumped at me. So I read the back of the book and it sounded like a intresting book to read. I also looked of reviews of this book to see how people liked it. All the reviews where complementing the book, so i decided i wanted to read this book.
This book was definately a page turner it kept me wondering what was going to happen next in the book. This book had a lot of emotions sad, scary, happy and so much more. This book I would say was very easy to read to me beacuse I wouldnt want to stop reading it was hard to put down.
Runner begins with Kyle, 17 years old, down town very late at night on the phone with his mother. They where fighting on the phone how Kyle is never home and always looking for his younger sister Meghan, 14 years old. Meghan ran away, and know one knows why. I would say that the protagonisnt is Kyle because he is trying to find his sister, and he seems like he's the only on who cares to find her. Then the antagonist who could be Meghan in a way because she ran away from her family, but she ran away becaause she didnt fit into school and because her dad left them. Which I believe is some what of a reason, but she is causing trouble for her brother to stay late everynight trying to find her. And I also think that the mother is some way is a antagonist because she doesnt want Kyle looking for his sister, she would rather have him focus on school and football.
This book was a well set book. I liked how one chapter would be how Kyle is trying to find Meghan, then the next chapter was a entry of Meghan's dairy thet Kyle found in the first chapter. I also liked how there was a lot of details, I could picture everything that was going on. i would definately read another book by Peter McPhee.
This book will cause thoughtful readers to consider issues such as how brothers and sisters should have each others back no matter how hard times get and how much yall fight, because one dy yall would need eachother.
