Crows in Our Hands

Rate this book
Paul and Tricia Barrett of Oregon had no particular interest in crows until one spring day in 1996 when a neighbor showed up with a tiny nestling in a cardboard box. An extraordinary exchange of affection occurred and the couple fell in love with the little crow. They hand raised it as a wild creature and successfully released it several months later. They assumed their corvine experience was over, but in a couple of months another crow baby showed up, then another, and another, etc. Five years later twelve crows had passed through their lives, leaving them with a profound respect for and a new understanding of the remarkably intelligent and personable "Corvus Brachyrhynchos," or Common Crow. This is a 152-page, hand bound book of photographs, stories, lore and notes about the experience of raising and releasing a series of wild crows. John Paul Barrett is the author of "Sea Stories - of Dolphins and Dead Sailors" and other books.
