Begin a Year of Grace-Filled Living Now! The gospel changes how we live each day. That's the premise of Saving Grace and the legacy of Jack Miller's ministry. Founder of Serge and the New Life Presbyterian network of Christian churches, Miller believed that Christians need to hear the gospel by faith every day, and he preached what he believed. These 366 gospel-saturated selections from Miller's pioneering sermons offer a fresh exploration of the everyday life of a Christian living with faith. With topics like forgiveness, relationships, temptation, prayer, joy, and perseverance this daily devotional will help readers to catch Miller's hope-filled vision for living in light of the gospel. Each daily reading is tied to a corresponding audio sermon available soon at newgrowthpress.com, providing additional resources for further reflection on your faith.
Good content, but it’s really short. And it’s recycled content from sermons, which I’ve never read, but at times it comes across a little different than I’d expect from a devotional.
I often like to pick up a devotional book when I have a few minutes to relax and like to have something deep and encouraging to feed my mind and soul, I am very thankful to have received this book and will go back to it time and time again.
If you are looking for a devotion book that speaks from the scriptures with substance and power and gives glory to God read Saving Grace Daily Devotions from Jack Miller.
This devotional gives a peek into what drove and motivated him in his walk with God.
I had the privilege to know Jack and hear his teaching firsthand. Reminded me of the devoutness of some of the Puritan writers. His heart was totally engaged with his evangelistic mindset. Would share the Gospel with anyone, anytime, anyplace.
A beautifully produced, eye-catching, comfortable in the hand, daily devotional, which is sadly much more insubstantial than its physical form. With relatively random single scripture verses for each day of any year (including leap years) tied to a single page excerpt from on of C. John Miller's sermons, it feels curiously shapeless and rootless. It probably doesn't help that I am unfamiliar with the late author's ministry and do not fall within his Calvinist mindset. It feels churlish to give this such a low rating given it was a very kindly meant gift from a colleague, but it has sat on my bedside for years now with me dipping into it from time to time without it really capturing my attention. With a new year it is time to call it a day and pass it on to someone else who may find it more helpful than I did.
Jack Miller specialized in the simple Good News of Jesus and how it changes EVERYTHING, including us, albeit never at quite the pace we sometimes desire. This little book has simple, short, one page devotionals for each day of the year. While short enough to read in just a few minutes, the Gospel tidbits often occupied my thinking for hours afterwards.
This is a wonderful little devotional. Don't let the brevity fool you - Miller gets to the heart pretty quickly each day and brings the grace of God to address each sinful tendency he exposes.
