Over twenty years ago, Dr. Lauren Bradway discovered that all children use one of three distinct ways to grasp and remember information. Some learn best through sound and language; others, through visual stimulation; and others, through touch. In this unique book, Dr. Bradway first shows you how to determine your child’s inherent style. She then aids you in carefully selecting the toys, activities, and educational strategies that will help reinforce the talents your child was born with, and encourage those skills that come less easily.
Lauren Bradway, PhD, a speechlanguage pathologist with a doctorate in Human Ecology from the University of Oklahoma, has a successful private practice.
I thought this was a great book and plan to continue using it as a resource. It is broken up according to age, so it is quick and easy to refer to the portions of the book that correspond with the ages of your children. The checklists and ideas are wonderful and can be used from birth. It helped me know how my chilren (and me) learn best and how I can increase their ability to learn in other ways. I raved about it until I read Doman's books and now rave about those even more. Read them-read them all!
This book has really changed the way I look at my kids. It has helped me to be more conscious of how they interpret the world. My first son is a "mover" (as she calls it) and the advice in this book has helped me tremendously with how to approach homework and talk to his teacher etc. I wish every school teacher would reds this book!
