Edited and with an introduction by William Cullen Bryant, this 789 page book includes 1,450 poems selected by Bryant. Included are authors from Chaucer up through and including contemporaries of Bryant.
This is an interesting republishing of a book anthology of various poetry put out by the American poet William Cullen Bryant. It is not really my specialty, but I can say this is as decent a compilation of Victorian poetry as you can get.
I liked this poetry book. It was filled with famous English-speaking poets and their poems or poems who had been translated. It was divided handily into sections such as "Nature" and "Humour". I didn't feel it was completely a five star book, however, because it left out some notable poets I thought should be in it because they were so famous in their time.
