This didn't work for us. I need milk-free recipes and most of these were "to make it dairy free substitute soy milk for milk and margarine for butter". I can figure that out myself. What I wanted were new recipes that would expand our milk-free options. I also don't use soy milk or margarine so can't really use these recipes as written. The majority of the recipes are main dishes. I wanted more baked goods though as I can easily figure out how to make dairy-free dinners - I can't figure out breakfast. Almost all the baked goods (and there were only a few) used white flour which I don't use either.

The authors son has a severe egg and nut allergy so most of the recipes are geared towards that. If you or someone in your family has those allergies this might be helpful. Otherwise you're probably better off with another book.

I did appreciate that each recipe had a picture. And there's a nice section on reading food packaging and what words can mean hidden allergens.

Off to the library to find something else....

Fantastic! Introduction has heaps of info on the difference between allergies and intolerances. tips on eating out with an allergy, kids with allergies, what to do if an allergy occurs, keeping your pantry safe from cross-contamination. Then each recipe has a great key that shows if the recipe is dairy free, egg free, gluten free or nut free - also most recipes have tips along the side on how to amend the recipe to suit different allergy types.
Very well thought out. A great tool for allergy sufferers.

Thank goodness! The only thing that would make this cook book even better is if it had the calorie counts and nutritional value of each meal within each recipe.

Odd to rate a cook book I know, but this is much more for more own edificaton.

For being a so-called allergen friendly cookbook, the author sure lists ingredients that are not all allergy friendly
