"This book isn't about how to have a perfect marriage, or to change our spouses," says Kay. "It's about having the kind of marriage where you can stand before God and say, 'Lord, I was all that You intended me to be.' Only when we make that kind of commitment can we truly have a marriage without regrets!" Speaking candidly about her first marriage, her conversion to Christianity, and her longtime marriage to Jack, Kay offers practical advice on effective communication, security and significance, difficult relationships, parenting, and God's guidelines for divorce and remarriage. Readers will discover what the Bible says about... This rerelease with a fresh new cover (more than 110,000 copies sold) contains the marriage-building and life-changing material Kay has presented to enthusiastic audiences worldwide—helping thousands of people in many countries experience supportive, Christ-centered marriages.

Kay Lee Arthur was an American Christian author, Bible teacher, and co-founder of Precept Ministries International. Renowned for her accessible and inductive approach to Bible study, she helped millions engage deeply with Scripture. Arthur began her ministry informally, teaching teenagers in her living room alongside her second husband, Jack Arthur. Their work soon grew into a global outreach, headquartered in Chattanooga, Tennessee, under the name Precept Ministries International. She hosted the daily Bible teaching program Precepts for Life and became a respected voice in evangelical circles. Arthur authored numerous books and was a four-time winner of the ECPA Christian Book Award for titles such as A Marriage Without Regrets and The New Inductive Study Bible. Her ministry was rooted in a personal reawakening to faith in the early 1960s, following a divorce and a return to religious life. She and Jack also served briefly as missionaries in Mexico before founding their ministry. Arthur remained active in public faith-based initiatives into her later years and was known for her firm stances on social issues. She passed away on 2025 leaving behind a lasting legacy in Christian education and publishing.

I really enjoyed this book. It has a great overview of different areas of marriage. I think many couples overlook some of the subjects she touches on. She's not afraid to talk about what God says a man and woman's role is and it's not that women should just stay at home. She also discusses communication, raising children, and sex. All very important subjects to discuss in marriage.
If you're married and want to read more about what God has to say about marriage in not much time (a little over 200 pages) then this is a great book for you.

Kay gives some practical tips, but more importantly keeps bringing your focus back to honoring Christ and reminding the reader what Scripture teaches. Not a book for those who simply regret being in a marriage for whatever the reason; a practical guide for any married person for reminding them that marriage is NOT about your glory, but Gods.

I think everyone should read this book! Men and women. Many people get married and just learn “on the job”. How much better is it to go into a marriage knowing what God expects of you instead of learning as you go. Obviously you will learn as you go on, but learning key aspects of a biblical marriage I believe are foundational. Kay Arthur really hits it home with this one.
If you plan on getting married or know someone getting married, gift them this book. How great would our marriages be if we knew what God expects of us before we get married. He wants us to have a marriage without regrets.

Great Read!

Biblical principles well and plainly written with scripture reference. A very good and reflective read, no matter your current situation in life. Practical advice for a Godly marriage, family, and life. Thank you Kay for your obedience in writing on such a controversial subject as biblical marriage.

I read a book on Christian marriage at least once a year. This one has many good reminders. It touches the surface of several areas of marriage. As I reviewed my notes and highlights, it will be easy to revisit some of the good ideas.

Kay Arthur definitely has some sound and sage advice for the pre-marital stage, but when it comes to Christian or practical paradigms, she and I are probably night and day. It is worth the read simply to get one thinking on different issues, but ultimately is a dated and biased text.

Very good BS. I bet the actual book would have been wonderful too, but enjoyed her study. I like that it wasn't as dry (missing commentary) as her precepts studies.

I had picked this book up at a women's event, and just expected great things. I'd had this in a drawer for over a year just waiting for me to get around to it. there is nothing extraordinary about this book. Her theology seems to be pretty on point, but some of the practical advice is appalling to me and can definitely lead down the wrong path.

She tells it like it is. In our wishy washy, politically correct day and age, her frank advice is just what my soul was craving.
