Film producer Don Hahn offers his own unorthodox, yet highly effective methods for reawakening the creative spirit. Blending personal and often hilarious ancedotes with prescriptive advice for rediscovering your creative self, Hahn explores the emotions that accompany creativity and discusses the importance of constructing a creative environment. Hahn describes the creative process in stages and lists the forces that drive balance, chaos, persistence, truth - plus chocolate and coffee. Best of all, he demonstrates how his theories can be put into practice, using his own highly successful career as an example.
I picked this book up on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. Very funny book written by Don Hahn, an illustrator for Walt Disney studios. He worked on the Lion King and other films. He talks a lot about creativity being a journey, not a destination. His main message is to create things for the pure joy of creating them. Oh, and did I mention the book is funny?
I remember this book so well and his recommendation about finding that place for inspiration... for him it was a hardware store... for me it's always been a bookstore... time to reread this one
