Tam da istediğim gibi bir romandı..O anlatım o betimleme ve tasfirler...Malum organların olmadığı aşk sahneleri..Adeta uçurdu beni roman..Rahatsızlığım olmasaydı çok daha önce bitirebilecğim bir kitapdı..
Bu yazarın diğer kitaplarını da en yakın zamanda okumak istiyorum..Zira kapaktan çeviriye kadar kusur bulamadığım bir roman idi... Sıradan donuk bir Tudor dönemi kitabını okumayı düşünürken muhteşem bir roman çıktı karşıma..Allahtan Goodreads'te puanlamanın çok uzun zamandır yapılmadığını sevgili Hafize tarafından uyarıldım..Çünkü yazar uzun zamandır yazmıyor görünüyor...Umarım bu yazarın diğer kitaplarını okumak nasip olur...

Tahmin ettiğimden daha iyi çıktı kitap!
Stephen beni yer yer sinir etsede oldukça maceralı ve akıcı bir kitaptı.Yazar yeni olduğu için biraz endişeliydim acaba beğenecek miyim diye ama kitaba başladıktan sonra bu endişemin yersiz olduğunu anladım. :D

.Günlerce elimde sürünen bu romanın da sonuna geldik. Kısaca romanın sevdiğim ve sevmediğim yönlerinden bahsedeyim.
Kitap Güller Savaşı'nın bitiminden Henry Tudor'un tacı başına takışına kadar olan zaman dilimini kaplıyor. Geçtiği döneme yaraşır bir biçimde bol bol entrika vardı, dönemi oldukça başarılı bir şekilde işlemeyi başarmış yazar. Kitabın büyük bir bölümü Venedik'te geçiyor. Açıkçası en çok hoşuma giden bölümler yazarın Venedik'i betimlediği bölümlerdi. Bir Gondol ile kanalları baştan uca gezmiş gibi hissettirmeyi başarmış yazar. Kathryn Kramer'ı sırf betimlemeleri için okurum diyebilirim.
Beğenmediğim bölümlere gelirsek... Olayların çok hızlı gelişmesi diyebilirim en başta. Kitabın kemik konusunu oluşturan olaylar dizisi bir gecede gerçekleşti. Üst üste gerçekleşen büyük tesadüfler çirkin bir Türk dizisi kadar boğucuydu. Sanırsınız Venedik'te sadece 20 kişi yaşıyor... Kitabı değerlendirmemden ayrı olarak kişisel düşüncelerimi de belirtirsem, karakterler gerçekten sinir bozucuydu. Madrigal kim nereye sürüklerse oraya giden ve kendini iteleyen insana yapışmayı bırakmayacak kadar gurursuz, uyuz bir kadındı. Stephen ise tüm feminist duygularımı ayağa kaldıracak kadar kadınlara aşağılayıcı yaklaşan, ayran gönüllü bir tipti. Bir aşk romanına bu karakterleri yakıştıramadım diyebilirim.

I have no problem with a Kathryn Kramer book. I know what to expect. Who needs character development when there's adventure to be had?
After stumbling across a plot against the king, Lady Madrigal Renfred is forced to adopt a male disguise in order to elude the cut-throat conspirators. She's taken under the wing of Stephen Valentine, a man she just met, fell in love with and almost banged before they were tragically torn apart by Chapter Three. Stephen takes Madrigal to Venice - where he promptly loses her. They both have their own little adventures before being reunited. The couple return to England - where he promptly loses her again. You need to put a tracking device on your woman, Stephen.

Set during the last few years of the War of the Roses, this book has an interesting love story and a lot of adventure for both Madrigal and Stephen Valentine. At first I was perturbed by the way Stephen treated Madrigal--making things difficult for her--because he believes her father (who was on the side of the white roses, killed his father who was on the red side). Later on, however, when she is in danger he reveals that he really does love her in spite of what has happened in the past. There are many interesting characters and as the book is set in Venice--it is romantic. Although this is not a series, there is a secondary character who appears in UNDER GYPSY SKIES.
