I have checked out many books at the library trying to find one that will help me, the novice green thumb, create the garden of my dreams. This is the best book I have found thus far, so I purchased a used copy on Amazon.com. Looking forward to re-doing our backyard this summer, and putting this book to use.
Much like birding, I'm not very good at gardening, but its something I thoroughly enjoy. This guide has great pictures and descriptions to help identify random plants that one may have acquired through ulterior means.
This book is best for figuring out what plants you want to plant in your garden. It is not as helpful with basic planning, so if you are a beginner gardener, you may want to try something else first.
Nice quality with beautiful pictures. Not a quick reference book but goes more in depth covering everything from landscaping to plants. Doesn't help with the type of gardening I'm doing but has the quality you'd expect with Better Homes and Gardens.
I haven't exactly read this from cover to cover but it is a very help guide to all things that grown in your yard. Lots of full color photos and great information. So glad I bought it years ago.
i don't have a shelf for this! learned a lot - when planting from containers, slice into the rootball, how to deal with bulbs, stagger blooming times, very helpful.
