Adam Sanchez makes good money, drives a vintage BMW, and is living up to the promise he made that he'd never be poor again. After two years without seeing his family for the holidays, he's taking time off to give them a dream Christmas. At least, that was the plan.
But after taking a wrong turn off the interstate in search of the Blue Ridge Parkway, he finds himself skidding on a patch of ice and crashing into a big red barn. He wakes up sore, grumpy, and immediately attracted to his less than pleasant host who happens to be the spitting image of a young Elvis Presley.
Army veteran Josh Atkins doesn't have time to babysit the idiot currently recovering on his family's Christmas tree farm, but is left with little choice. That the man stirs something deep and primal in Josh can't and doesn't matter. It's the busiest time of year and he's needed at home.
As the two men begin to talk and share their stories, Josh's hard-nosed stance softens. When he learns of Adam's need to get to Asheville before Christmas, Josh is torn between letting him go and asking him to stay.
Maybe Josh can help Adam see that there's more to happiness and freedom than a large bank account, and maybe Adam can teach Josh to see beyond the surface to the man beneath. Maybe, just maybe, they can show each other that there really is more than this.
There is a moral to this story: Money can't buy you love.
But it can buy you a vintage Beemer.
The Insta Love here is downright creepy.
Two days, a couple blowjobs, lots of fighting back and forth about what's "really important in life," and the moving van is just around the corner.
There's no connection at all between Adam and Josh. They're both wooden, one-dimensional character. Adam is all about status and money, and Josh is all about family and the simple things in life.
Predictable much?
The dialogue is super awkward, and the story is filled with typos and grammatical errors.
This is a Christmas story. But it didn't warm my heart. It made me cringe, though.
Bad writing, silly plot, abrupt ending; almost DNF.
Rounded up cause I'm nice like that, and I like the idea of a cozy, cookie-filled holiday on a Christmas tree farm.
I wasn't sure about this book at first, but I ended up loving it. Adam and Josh are just great together, so different, but so much alike, especially when it comes to their families. I found this a very romantic love story set in the snowy mountains at Christmas time.
I really, really enjoyed this book. I even added it to my favorites shelf! It was incredibly romantic and I really felt the spark between Josh and Adam immediately.
Bonus points for the hot cover and the warm and fuzzy Christmas feel.
I'm really not sure what I feel about this story. It's really the ultimate in instalove and that didn't really work for me so much. It's a perfectly nice story with likeable characters across the board and I didn't really feel the angst as the characters worked through their troubles. If you're looking for a nice quiet romance this would be a good one. For me it was a bit thin and an okay read but not really memorable.
The most positive I have to say about this book is: I finished it. I was anxious to avoid my first DNF this early in the new year, so I worked my way through it. It started with the insta-love, moved on through harebrained dialogues and ended with hitting me over the head with a moral at the end. Umpf :(
Lead character 1 is too concussed to WALK, so LC 2 has to carry him back to his room. And then they bang. Later in the story, injured guy's STILL having trouble walking, so it's not like LC 2's cock fixed him, even, healing cock being the only explanation possible.
I've really got superlative suspension of disbelief skills but this story wasn't worth the effort, I guess. LC 2 is a veteran, haunted by his time in the field - except for how he actually doesn't seem haunted at all. He's quite grounded and well-adjusted, except for how he pays no attention when the rational half of his brain tells him being attracted to the aggravating, shallow as fuck guy in his guest room is the life choice of a dumbass.
Yeah, it's a novella, so some stuff is going to seem wallpapered on. Very few writers can avoid that, given about 100 pages to work with. But nothing felt REAL. If the tone had been straight up fairy tale-esque, it might have clicked with me? Maybe?
I loved this couple and the story blew me away. It reminds me so much of what family truly means.
Wow, this book was just WOW. When I found out about this book I expected it to be 3 or 4 stars for me, instead it was a very easy and worthy 5 stars. I fell in love with this book from the first page and could not stop reading until I had finished it.
Adam and Josh were just amazing together. They both fought their feelings for each other and eventually they found their way. Normally I want a book to show an actual relationship for a bit in the book. But to me this couple was a couple before they realized they were.
This book is not about sex, its about love. About falling in love hard and being afraid to do anything about it. Some people might find this book frustrating. I was not one of those. I found this to be just a sweet simple read. It made me feel all Christmassy because it was not just a romance. It was about family and being truly happy.
I loved both Josh and Adam's families. They were amazing and so supportive. I wish my family was like theirs. They were great secondary characters and helped make this story so wonderful and full fulling for me.
This was the first Lissa Matthews book I have ever read. But from reading this one I cannot wait to read more. She did an amazing job with this book. And has really gotten me in the Christmas spirit. Which is a great thing because it is so close to Christmas.
A must read book, its one of the best ones of its kind I have ever read. :)
Adam crashes into Josh's barn and from there they learn about themselves and each other. They are both very apprehensive about the love they are finding and it leads to hurt feelings. This was one of those stories that makes you want to slap the lead characters. I didn't like either of them in the beginning, but in the end I was cheering for them.
When Adam Sanchez veers off the road and ends up crashing into Josh Atkins' Christmas tree farm, he never thought he'd find love because love is the last thing on his mind. Adam is all about making money and having the material things he never had while growing up. Even though he and Josh share a powerful and deep connection, Adam doesn't feel that a relationship would work with the former solider, turned farmer. Josh wants to make it work, but Adam is adamant that they are from two very different worlds and it's not meant to be.
This is a sweet story, but its characters, well, one character in particular, frustrated me to no end.
I liked this book a lot. I wouldnt say love but I liked it. This is the second LM book ive read and both were memorable. The MCs were complete opposites in every sense of the word. But their feelings drew them together. It was a physical force that pulled them together. Adam was a money driven businessman who grew up poor and was determined to not return to that state. Josh is a vet who is slightly war hardened but still craves love. I liked the story and it was written well but It bithered me that they never said I love you. Their inner monolauges said it but never to eachother. For me thats what makes the story complete in these kind of stories.
Really 3.5 stars but it was well written so I thought it deserved to be rounded up. A sweet romance. I really enjoyed all the different personalities and the MC's were adorable together. There was room for some nice angst. I expected to enjoy some tears before the end but the emotions never really got off the ground. A pity, some tears would had really enhanced the story, cutting up the sweetness and making it something memorable. Still, I reckon it's a book that I'll read again someday.
While I truly liked the plot of this story, it just fell short for me at the end. I loved the build up, the way Adam and Josh meet and slowly get to know one another and Josh's family. But once Adam got to Asheville to be with his family everything just seem incredibly rushed to me. I would have liked more with the family and definitely more with Josh and Adam at the end.
First of all this is a great cover..LOVE the cover ♥
second..I usually don't read M/M stories I'm not a big fan but this sounded nice so I thought why not if it's a good romance it doesn't matter if it's a M/M or F/M or what ever...
Another insta love story. A slightly disappointing book. Not sure I would have fell for a hot selfish jerk crashing though my business. The only things I enjoyed is the interaction with Adams family near the end and the cover made me what to read it. It was just okay to me.
