New Mexico private investigator Bubba Mabry is scraping for jobs when a wealthy family hires him to locate their errant granddaughter. It seems she's joined a women's commune outside of Taos, and Bubba, along with an experienced deprogrammer, is supposed to rescue her. But Margaret doesn't want to be rescued, and the deprogrammer and his religious notions really, really get on Bubba's nerves. When Bubba's girlfriend, reporter Felicia, goes undercover to join the commune--or cult, perhaps--the stakes get really high.

For the crime story reader looking for action, mystery, an interesting detective, equally interesting supporting characters, a great setting, page turning plot twists, and just enough humor to keep you engaged, this book and this writer should be your first choice. Steve Brewer presents Bubba Mabry for our consideration. Yes, he's a little too gullible. Yes, he's slow on the uptake. And, yes, he takes too many chances, but in the end... well you have to read this story to find out!
Guaranteed, I will be reading more misadventures of this Albuquerque income-challenged private eye and steep myself in New Mexico charm so well crafted by Brewer. Definitely a 5 star detective novel!
