The art is great, the articles are great. I adore Lewis Baltz, and the writings are insightful views from, well, viewers. However, poor organization and design.

This book seems to be the catalog for a traveling (1990-92) retrospective exhibition of Lewis Baltz's photography. The photographs are amazing, and represent a brief but useful introduction to most of the major projects of his career. The organization of the book is less impressive. It is often difficult to tell which photographs the picture labels refer to; some of the photographs are not identified at all. Rather than include one or two integrative essays, there are many brief texts, from many different sources, sometimes only tangentially related to the photographs reproduced around them.
