Finally got round to reading F.L. Green's source novel for the film Odd Man Out.
While generally the film stays faithful to the book's narrative, Johnny - the Organisation's doomed chief - is a much more clearly passive character in the novel. He might be responsible for the novel's inciting incident but pretty much everything that follows is around him as he stumbles from location to location.
As an insight into views of the IRA and the life of Belfast immediately after the war, the novel is worth the time, although a little laggy at times.
