short is about 6,000 words long and takes place between the events of Blood Betrayed (book 2 in the series) and Blood Spirit (book 3 in the series). Reading this out of the series order may be confusing to some readers, so the suggested series reading order is: Vampire Dreams Revamped (A Sons of Navarus Prequel) Blood Avenged (Sons of Navarus #1) Blood Betrayed (Sons of Navarus #2) Longing (A Sons of Navarus Short Story) Blood Spirit (Sons of Navarus #3)

Blurb: For Thane, being a Son means the responsibility of deciphering the Prophecy of Idolas and stopping the Archons. He's accepted his destiny, privately wishing for more than a life of duty and solitude but knowing it's unfair to join himself to one woman because of what he must do in this life.

But things have changed. As much as he's denied it, his friendship with the mate of another Son has caused something to grow inside his heart that had been empty for so long.

To Sasa, Thane is a dear friend, the only true friend she has at the monastery. He'll take her friendship with the secret desire that one night she'll want much more...

What a wonderful short story! We get to see what type of vampire Thane is and experience the conflict between him, Sasa and Vasilijie. I am drawn into this story through the superior writing by Ms Bisset. I highly recommend .

What?!

Massive twist to the series in such a short read!! I didn't see this one coming. Who's relationship is already on the rocks and will the be able to pull through? This book needs to be read in order with the series!!

I loved (Sons of Navarus) Novella Longing..I am the type of person who not only reads the book but somewhere in between i am trying to guess or second guess the Motives behind everything said and done by the Lead Male or Female or both...That was the case with Gabrielle Bisset's Blood Avenged Vasilije & Sasa's Story...But when i read Longing I was like finally, so that's how Thane feels and i sighed with relief...Thane in my opinion is the most Loving and Patient of the Sons and in this book is where i slowely fell in Love with him...(please forgive me vasilije) and i really wanted Thane to be with...I don't want to give anything away because of all who haven't read the book..The story May be short but it is deep and gave me a better understanding of what was goining on...Gabrielle really knows how to gain the readers attention and keep them coming back for more:)

For the very few pages of 'Longing', it was an ok look at Thane's feelings for Rasa, who is being increasingly left alone by Vasilije as the attacks by the Archon increase.

IMHO, this should have been incorporated into Book 3 and not sold separately. I feel like I wasted my money on it.

Thane is in love with Rasa, and Rasa is becoming disillusioned by Vasilije's withdrawal from her (not that he doesn't have a fair reason as the Archons are murdering his vampires).

Also, two of Vasilije's female vampires are due to come to the monastery to 'help', and they are not 'nice girls'. They don't actually show up during this story, but Rasa is upset about them (with good reason) and she is also left without a blood source when Vasilije leaves, so she needs blood from someone.

OMG!! I would so much rather see Sasa with Thane than Vasilije, and I only say this because never once has Vasilije said that he actually loved Sasa, only that she was important. I get the feeling through these stories that Sasa is more invested in the relationship with Vasilije than he is with her.... perhaps I am wrong, but he doesn't seem to be very attentive toward her anymore.....I think Thane is a super cool guy and I hope all this love he feels for Sasa doesn't go to waste! Can't wait to read the next book!

This author writes well enough but I can't help but compare most vampire series to J.R Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I just don't get sucked into the world created in the Sons of Navarus. I have read up through book 4 and I think that I'm done. I got all of the stories in the book sets and thought that I would like them more than I did by all of the 5 star reviews. Maybe the stories are okay for someone else but I just felt that they were lacking something.

If you have read Blood Avenged and Blood Betrayed then you DEFINITELY need to read Longing!! It is an amazing short story that gives an interesting insight to feelings between Thane and Sasa and I look forward to reading more about them and seeing where it leads. Gabrielle is an amazing author and is definitely one that needs to be on your must buy list!!

Longing is just like the title. Longing for something elusive.
I really enjoyed this short story, Its a sensual interlude between the quiet thoughtful SON Thane and Sasa. Its full of emotional struggles, and longing. Can't wait to see what happens next

Gabrielle Bisset has done it again. I could not put this one down either. Poor Thane really seems to be the good guy stuck in the friend zone. One can only hope that he can climb out of that zone for himself and Sasa.

I really enjoyed this sneak peak into the dynamics of the tension between Sasa, Thane and Vasilije. This short story, like all of Gabrielle's work, will hook you in making it impossible to put down. I have a better appreciation for Thane after this book and I can't wait to get more of him. ;)

Thane is battling himself over Sasa who is not his vampire. When she comes to him for help, can he resist?
