I love the cottage and fruit crash diet, it is fast and takes off weight quickly. The author is witty and fun while talking about the trials and tribulations of any diet and helps to boost a dieter's morale which in turn keeps you coming back for another diet. You can modify the diets to your liking resting assured that eliminating one of the foods or by exchanging something similar the diets will still take off weight speedily unless you already diet strictly at which you will enjoy an often 'desert-like' or 'snack-like' menu without gaining/or while losing slowly. It has been a while since I read the book but there are also sensible advices like taking a good quality vitamin and warming up before exercise.
This is the book that set me firmly on a lifelong path of obsession with diet and exercise. It even boasts an early version of Atkins: the "Yes Yes, No No De-Hungrification Diet". And it's been nearly thirty years since I read that. The cover was orange and featured a kind of voluptuous dark-haired woman in a bikini, clutching, I think, a bunch of grapes.
