It should have been a great read. But this is a book that has missed every opportunity to mine some angst and drama. Colin is a young (by immortal standards) vampire and Mia has recently discovered she comes from a clan of vampire hunters. Colin is a cop. He connects with Mia telepathically in a hostage situation when he and his team come to her rescue. A very blah rescue. They have sex. Which carries on for three months. And then one fine day, Colin decides he wants to graze greener pastures, try other immortals even while waiting for his One and Only Vampire mate. We are told this. So we don't experience the moment of heartbreak for Mia or even understand why Colin does what he does. Except that he's still obssessed with Mia and routinely rescues her, though she's a fine martial arts expert herself. He cheats on Mia, and apparently Mia feels that. She mentions this fact casually. No plumbing the emotional impact of his infidelity here. Mia and Colin are somehow accidentally bonded without their knowledge. Which Colin resents. How can he, a Prime Vampire, be bonded to a mere mortal. Again, you'd think here is a prime dramatic strand that the author is about to explore - racism and a jerk's eventual education that mortals are just as wonderful as vampires - but no, that is ignored. He accepts that mortals are okay as bondmates because he has sex with her. And she doesn't intend to be a vampire hunter anyway, so that conflict is also out of the picture. In the end all is okay, the good vampires fight with bad vampires (I think. I was speed reading at this point so I can come to the end).

I really enjoyed the first book in the series. But this book had characters I simply couldn't connect with.

The saving grace of I Hunger For You is that, yes, it does end. 1.5 stars.

Mia Luchese meets Colin Foxe during a hostage situation and they immediately become lovers. Mia doesn't realize that Colin is a vampire, though she does realize that vampires exist (coming from a hunter family and all that). Colin is drawn to Mia and doesn't realize it's a bonding call because in his mind, mortals are good for sex, but when he finally bonds it will be with a vampire. So this is why, after 3 months, he tells Mia that he needs to see other people and breaks things off with her, breaking her heart. 3 months later, Colin still hasn't gotten Mia out of his mind (not for lack of trying) and is stalking her when she's attacked by a vampire. He rescues her, has sex with her and leaves. Mia knew she was attacked by a vampire, so seeks out her hunter grandfather (who she doesn't realize is the vampire's archenemy) to learn how to defend herself. She's attacked again and rescued once more, but Mia doesn't let things end there. She seeks out her rescuers and learns they are vampires and that she is, in fact, bonded to Colin. Colin is furious at this, thinking his chance to bond with a vampire is lost and he's stuck with Mia. Lot of hurt goes around, but more important is dealing with Mia's grandfather and the Tribe vampires who have been attacking. The chance of losing Mia brings Colin around to his senses of course.

So this would have been much better if Colin hadn't been such a monumental douchebag. His belief that humans aren't for bonding is the behavior of, to quote Mia, a "racist pig." It surprised me that Alec, whose bondmate is human, didn't get on Colin a it more for that one. He breaks things off with Mia and goes off and has wild sex with lots of women without realizing that Mia, who is already bonded to him, knows every time he does it. How are they bonded? Because during sex, Mia had been biting Colin and tasting his blood. I don't know how he had no idea this was happening given her dull teeth, but it was. This was never explained to my satisfaction - the explanation being that maybe Mia's psychic power made him forget. Yeah. Okay. Then maybe it could have been explained why Mia thought drinking someone's blood was a-okay normal for sex...just because Colin was doing it? Having read and seen as much sex as she had, one would think she'd realize that drinking blood during sex was not standard practice. So that remained a confusing topic for me. Anywho, douchebag doesn't realize that he can't forget Mia because they're bonded so he continues to break her heart. He doesn't feel guilt and he doesn't care because she's mortal and not good enough for him. This is doubly proven when they end up bonded and he's still thinking of how he can get out of it and bond with a vampire. Yes, this is his journey, to learn how to appreciate what he's got, but he wasn't a very sympathetic character because of it. Mia, who was pretty much a fantastic heroine, deserved much better. I liked that she was strong, independent and resourceful. I love how she called him on his bullshit, but she should have made him suffer more. As far as the building of the prime universe, this story was pretty good for that. I'm beginning to understand how things work there much better and seeing how things connect. I will keep reading - hopefully no more douchebag heroes.

Not as good as the first two. Mia and Colin were insufferable with their bad tempers and stubborn attitudes. Colin was especially bad with his elitist attitude towards mortals. There was plenty of chemistry between them but that’s all it was; physical. No romance, no tender moments, hardly even a nice word spoken between them. Mia and Colin’s interactions with each other were pretty much just arguing and sex. There were plenty of moments where the arguments and differences between the two could have been resolved but for some reason the author would just abruptly change the subject or gloss over it. There was also a complete 180 in Colin in like, THE LAST CHAPTER!, where Colin finally realizes he’s in love with Mia. By then I was just like, “why? What made you realize you’ve been an ass all this time?” So much potential and it fell flat.

Disappointing, because I've read better from this author.

Okay, so I read some of this book once before, a few years ago...and it never really did anything for me so I didn't finish it. But I was going through book withdrawal and I decided to pick this one back up and give it another go. That was a mistake. Firstly, the story felt rushed. The characters and the story don't feel to be very well developed, Colin came off shallow and Mia was supposed to be this spitfire but most of the time she just seemed confused and annoyed and to be honest they both are a little irritating. The story had no real climax and when you think there is something that would cause a conflict it never does so you're just left there like...WTF that's it?! And by the time the supposed climax came I was so ready to get to the end that I just skimmed over it and then...The End

The one thing that really annoyed me was Colin's whole "I could never bond with a human" bullshit. Trust me, it gets old fast. Like I said earlier it made his look shallow and immature and to me it was a total buzz kill and when it comes to Mia she gets "a little upset" but because of their "bond" she completely looks over that fact. I personally can't stand when a female lead immediately gets back together with a guy after said guy acts like a total ass. I like to see a little pride in my lead females, you know, a little fight. Colin was redeemed a little for trying to do something nice for their forced marriage when he kinda/sorta learns the error of his ways. But barely

I did enjoy seeing previous characters and how they interacted with Colin and Mia. Getting a taste of Clan customs was a great touch and was one thing that actually kept me reading the book.

Personally would I recommend this to a friend? Maybe a beginner romance reader or someone who is WAY INTO vampire romance but for readers who like a little depth and challenge in their character and story...probably not.

This is one of my favorite books in Sizemore's Vampire Prime series. Colin Foxe is an alpha jerk. He works on a LA swat team. Until he bonds with a female vampire, he enjoys bedding as many mortal women as he can. Any real involvement with a mortal woman is out of the question. He intends to bond with only a fellow vampire.

During a hostage rescue, he meets Mia, a mortal. The attraction is immediate. While Colin uses his best efforts to avoid any real involvement, Colin finds his attraction to Mia growing. So he unceremoniously dumps her. Three months later, he still can't get her out of his mind.

When Mia is attacked by an evil tribe vampire, Colin rescues her.

The prime series is Sizemore's sexy vampire series. This book is especially hot. Colin doesn't just have a commitment phobia, he is an elitist. Slowly, painfully, Colin becomes aware of how ugly his prejudice actually is. More importantly, he realizes how deeply he hurt the most important person in his world.

Mia is not passive heroine. She is a strong, proud fighter. She does not passively accept Colin's mistreatment.

In addition to the love story, there is a kick ass action plot, involving evil vampire hunters and evil vampires.

I've finished it!!! Ok, it wasn't bad at all. I did feel I got robbed from a certain fight scene towards the end of the book, but even though Colin is an immature little vampire brat, and Mia is a stubborn little wanna be vampire hunter, they are perfect for each other and I actually found myself enjoying their little quarrels with each other. I guess it made it seem a little more real that vampires aren't perfect as they are usually portrayed. I am looking forward to reading the other books in this series!

A great series if you like the sexual strong male characters and their equally strong minded mates. For those who like vampires and romance will not want to put the book down. Mia Luchese (vampire hunter by birth) and Colin Foxe (Prime Reynard Clan vampire) their attraction towards each other is immediate and sexually charged. Time and again they are drawn together, no matter how they try to resist. When an outlaw Tribe makes Mia its target, Colin is forced to bring her into his world.............Looking forward to the next book in this series.

Liked this the best so far - although that is relative and not hard since I thought the others were just kinda ok. This installment gives us Colin and Mia. That doesn't mean I was the biggest fan of this one. So the story here is that Mia is from a hunter family while Colin is our vampire hero. Mia dates Colin at the beginning of the book - or really during the 6 months we don't get at the beginning of the book - and the bonding process starts because apparently not only did Colin bit Mia but she bit him back. We find that out later. Much later. And I didn't expect to be basically in the middle of the book and get a bonding ceremony. And it's interesting to me that the women in this series don't stand up for themselves at all. The author tries to lead us to believe that they are strong women, yet they get walked all over. Mia is no different. She's athletic and training to become a vampire hunter yet when she gets told flat out that she is going through a bonding ceremony - which is not her choice - she lets it happen. It's such a contradiction to the way the author tries to build these female characters. It's disappointing. Although it's sort of in line with the lack of character development for the other characters. The character development that there is - is terrible and a contradiction. So, it's either that or no development. I am not sure which is worse.

And then Colin - all this I don't want to be with a human. And there's not even a confrontation with Mia about that. There was all this build up and then... nothing.

There was even more build up for dealing with "the Patron" (see my review of book #2 for my comments about how wonderfully creative I think this is. Not.) # chapters in and the mention of Mia's grandfather and you could see this coming like it was flashing on a billboard above the book. And yet, it was so disappointing to see the action fizzle and last, like, 3 pages. Boring.

The steaminess - well, a little better then book 2, which was better then book 1. But it's still - just "ah" (**shoulder shrug**). I am really happy that I just started book #4 and it's the last one of this series I have to read. I won't but the others.

The only thing I think this series has going for it is that we don't have a "brotherhood" or group that we get introduced to all in the beginning book (so you know there are books for each of the men in that group - and maybe the group grows over time, but they are the key). Instead here, there is a complex social hierarchy and we get people from the different Families, Clans, and Tribes. They are all interconnected, and we get introduced to the Prime who is the hero of the book in other books, but they are basically peripheral characters and that gives us much more to learn about the Prime and is a nice change of pace. You never know who the next Prime in the next book will be - he could come from any one of the rungs of the hierarchy and that's nice.

I just wish the writing, the plots, the creativity and the character development were better.

This novel was very interesting to me from the start.  I wasn't as invested in this novel as I was with the others, just because the characters weren't really mentioned before.  I did like the fact that they seemed kind of young and forgetful.  All the he-man power was starting to get to me after a while and not in a good way.  Not in a swooning at his feet, more of a really-just-leave-her-be kind of way.  Mia was awesome in all her glory.  She's like the perfect role model for any woman who wants to be fit and independent.  She's totally rocking it too, until that sexy man comes into her life.  In this novel the main characters are Colin and Mia.  Colin is still searching for the patron, whom he let get away in the last novel.  He's sworn that he'd take care of the issue and destroy any progress that the Patron's made in discovering immortality.  Instead of doing all of this Colin is following Mia around while she's unaware.  He can't get her out of his head and it's bothering him to the point that he has to find her.  Mia has spent her whole life working out just in case a vampire tries to attack her.  Her grandmother made her promise to do so and when she passed away Mia did.  While Mia was jogging into the park a vampire attacked her.  Colin had ended up following her and also saved her from her attacker.  Mia is certain that there's something fishy going on with Colin yet she can't prove it.  So when she starts losing pieces of her memory, only to have them come back to her all wrong, she starts to wonder.  While Colin keeps acting funny Mia is bound and determined to get help hunting down vampires.  And who better to go to than her great grandfather, a man who's been fascinated by them for decades now.  Everything would be going well for Mia, if the fact that even more vampires keep attacking her weren't the problem.  Now she must team up with Colin and his people to take care of a problem that's all because of her. This novel is a good example of young and naïve romance.  The characters in this novel act as both, so it all goes together very well.  For an urban fantasy novel it wasn't that bad.  It had all the right aspects going for it, so the fact that it was also a romance novel helped boost up its imagine.  It's not an overly sappy romance novel either, which is a good thing.  It has its moments, but those are few and far between.  In this novel the characters are both striving for the same goal without knowing it.  I won't consider this a plot twist, but I would consider this to be pretty interesting for the plot.  All in all this wasn't a bad novel.  I still don't see why more people haven't discovered Susan Sizemore.  She's a very talented author that has a lot going for her.  She writes fantastic novels that keep you wanting more, but it seems like nobody cares about her novels.  So if you want a good urban fantasy and romance novel then look at the first one in this series, because this is a good series.  It's one to be read over and over again.

Mia, strong (for a human), psychic, disciplined, of a line of vampire hunters (though no one has confronted a vampire in 3 generations, and Mia isn't sure she believes her grandmother), living in a house inherited by her great grandfather - a man she didn't know or know about... Colin, a relatively new adult vampire who wholeheartedly accepts the Clan mission to protect humans, but he feels a bit superior to humans, and has plans to marry well to a vampiress, when he is older...

In a hostage situation, as a SWAT member Colin meets Mia... they telepathically speak to one another, and Mia had taken things into her own hands to separate the kidnappers & kicks him as Colin and his team storm in to rescue them... He follows her to the hospital, takes her home... and then 6 months later... he had stayed with her for 3 months with great sex but he did his best to keep it superficial, removing her memories of his 'tastes' - bites during sex, and then left her, telling her he could not tie himself to one person, and then spends the next 3 months with one night stands... bit finds himself frequently going to her place to check on her...

Mia and Colin are mated... but it takes a bit before either can accept this... the initial adreniline meeting, and their subsequent love making, where Mia took his lead of biting and taking blood, and then mirrored back his removing of memories of it - all naturally, without thought...

and her great grandfather is the Patron of the earlier book that supported a lab to experiment on vampires, trying to find the secret of eternal life... so after meeting the local Clan, where the Matri forces them to acknowledge their bonding... and when they find out that she is of the vampire hunters, he is actually quite rational and understanding of her point of view... and she agrees to help them to stop her grandfather as long as he is not killed - just take his money, destroy his lab & research... A Tribe plays a part in it all... they had discovered she was the Patron's great granddaughter and the Patron stole their money years earlier... The Tribes are different than Clan...

and in the final scenes, the Clan, the Tribe, Mia and Colin are at grandfather's ... and they accomplish their task after a few complications... but grandfather dies of a heart attack... and Colin & Mia are happy...

I really like that each story (while having some of the same components) has a different twist. When reading Feehan's Dark series I felt I was reading the same story over and over with different names...Sizemore does a better job of making each pairing special/different...more than just a name change.

With that said, I will now be doing something a little spoilerly...

this is the tale of Mia (Caramia) a latent psychic, part of a family of vampire hunters, who haven't hunted in years...oh, and her Great-great grandfather is the Patron (the one who kidnapped Marcus in the previous book -- Thirst) and Colin, a Clan vampire who is a bit prejudice against mortals (even though the vamps aren't immortal, they call the humans with regular life spans mortal...) -- he is okay with taking their blood and sleeping with them, but he would NEVER bond with one of them...or would he?

anyway, I quite enjoyed the story of the bad vampires (Tribe) trying to get to Mia for her connection with the Patron, who has money that belongs to Tribe...with both Mia and Colin trying to pretend they don't know about vampires to the other...funny. Quite enjoyable, and I really liked the introduction of Laurent (a Tribe vampire) -- a bad guy, but I forsee him getting his own book.

I have added the rest of the series (thus far) to my wishlist, as I do enjoy these little breaks from reality.

I think this book was very somehow new in sort of way because it was like my first time reading a book that long and romantic and emotional. I loved how Susan Sizemore used her like grammar to show like desire and hunger which relates to the title of the book. I also like at how she uses a very amazing like story-line and also connects it with book 1 characters and story line to give you like a feel of what is going to happen. Like she gives us readers a fore-shadowing of like how the vampire meets his soul-mate supposedly and he is suppose to like attract her and get her attention to bond both of them together. The thing i like the most about the book uses like very interesting ideas to lead up to how the 2 main characters get together. Personal i love it when like there a guy chasing after a girl to get the girl to fall in love with him which i think it is really romantic. Like even though it happens in many stories i think this story was rich with details describing the characters and story.Also the author wrote the book filled with literary devices that are used in the literary world.

You meet the young pup Colin in the previous book. In this one you learn that he is a butthead ... he redeems himself, but he's still a butthead. lol
I say butthead because at first he is all gun ho about marrying a vampire female, then meets Mia, accidennally bonds with her, and then spends a bunch of time denying it.
That bit gets a tad angsty, only because it is blatently clear they belong together and he is being thick-headed about it.
Poor Mia, I say poor Mia because she is basically in the dark as to why she is so obsessed with Colin and thinks she is going crazy because she might be remembering things wrong. Colin, then other vampires, mess with her memories and her mind is too strong to have their attempts stay fixed. Also, poor her because of who her family is. Which prooves that you don't get to pick the family you are born with no matter how much of an douche they are.
These books are great. Enough story to keep you interested. Engaging characters and storylines and hot sex scenes to spice up the whole thing. All of that is wrapped up into a quick read which ends up being nicely satisfying.

I tried to give these series a fair shot... read the first three, simply because I've heard good things. The first one was interesting yet really confusing, due to the writing style. I couldn't stand how "dreamy" everything felt, like I wasn't standing on solid ground (not in a good way). So I figured the next book would be better....and it kind of was... but then the third book, this one, really ended it for me. They meet and ten pages later, they'd broken up after a three month fling... and then they're married within fifty pages... Just didn't make sense to me. The author needs to take the time to delve into each piece of her stories more, because everything is glossed over and vague. This would be a great first draft, but needed a rewrite before being published, honestly. It was rushed, and the author needs to slow down and enjoy the writing process more, so that the readers can enjoy each step towards the climax (yep, sexual tension not just for the hero/heroine, but major tension for the readers).

Maybe I'll try to read the next one...but probably not.

When Mia Luchese meet Colin Foxe during a hostage situation she can't believe her luck. Another man who thinks women can't defend themselves. While unbelievably annoyed by his cockyness she can't help but love how self assured he is. Their time together is short, but explosive and a little too late they discover that the reason it's explosive is because they are bonded.

Coline Foxe is a young prime who has only heard tales of the ecstasy and highs of find a bondmate. He never thought it would happen to him. His goals are firm and within reach... so when he bonds with Mia without his knowledge his anger comes quick and his words strike Mia like a dagger. Suddenly everything he's aspired to be is gone and he feels trapped and saddled with a mortal as a mate. It takes almost losing her to realize what and who is most important. Another good read.

This story has a few twists, like finding out the identity of Mia's great-grandfather, finding out she's comes from Vampire hunter lineage and finding out she has psychic ability.

Not as good as the first book in the series in some respects so it took me a while to finish this book.

I think over time if Colin and Mia's characters stay in the series that their appeal will be greater as they mature into a stable couple. For me it got kind of old reading how much Colin always planned on bonding with another vampire and considered a mortal woman to be beneath him as his destined mate, especially as he made that quite plain to Mia over and over once she learned he was a Prime Vampire.

The ongoing feud between the Clan Primes and the Manticore Primes is still the main focal point with the issue of tracking down and eliminating a threat to all the Vampire families coming in a close second. In the middle of this Colin and Mia's relationship almost gets torn apart but by the end their differences are resolved and readers will be happy for them both if still a bit unsure as to what happens next.

I usually really like SS's books but this one really fell flat for me. Sure there were vamps and a tad bit of danger thrown into an unwanted bonding but the leads really weren't all that interesting at all. They were inches from being completely boring, I don't really know how to decribe the way the coversation's between the leads just went blah for me. The overall feel for me from the book was rushed, lacked depth in not only the leads but the wording as well, and just wasn't enough to draw me into the story at all. I hate to give such a negative review for one of my fav. author's novels but it is what it is and I can't just wish it better.

The third book in the vampire “Primes” series.

This book is the second in a two part story arc that began with “I Thirst for You”. A well written and paced book, it neatly tied up the lose ends and fleshed-out more of the Primes social structure. I enjoyed reading about the bondmate/wedding ceremony and hope to see it again in future books. I couldn’t put the book down and had to finish it from cover-to-cover all in one reading marathon. Now I plan to go back and leisurely read through it a second time, concentrating on the sections I liked the best.

I picked this book up on the street from one of those guys and this was a good buy. It is not an easy book but it is a good, fun simple book. She is the descent of vampire hunters. He is a SWAT officer who is also a vampire. They meet and began an on-again off-again relationship. They eventually find out about each other and they relies they are to be bonded mates. The sex is real good, he is an interesting, and she’s not bad. I’ll read all the other books in the series with the grain of salt that this is a fun easy weekend read.

Okay- I've read three books in this series, but I done. Doesn't matter that I have 5 more of the series at home, I will not read any more Susan Sizemore. They deserve 2.5 stars but I can't make myself stretch to that rating of 3. Sizemore's writing is subpar in my opinion. The characters are one dimensional and the plot is flat. I have read way too many works by great writers to be entertained or captivated by these attempts. They are simply dull... That being said- anyone want to buy them? Ha!

Why I picked this book up: I've read others in her series and Sizemore is great for a light summer read.

Why I finished this book: I like groveling. And the book delivered at the level that I expected it to.

Who I would recommend this book to: Fans of Kresley Cole.

I read this several years ago and I'm struggling to remember enough to write a decent blurp. I gave it 4 1/2 stars on the inside flap. I remember that Mia came from a family of vampire hunters and she teamed up with SWAT man, Colin Foxe (vampire). Mia did not know he was a vampire. Enjoyed it!

I really liked the way the story developed between 2 characters that don't want to have long-term relationship due to being a human / vampire. This deals with bigotry that many of us are guilty of just different circumstance same foundation.

I liked how the couple overcame their prejudices and allowed themselves to continue loving each other.

This guy is a total jerk. He has no appreciation for the heroine throughout the book and very little at the end.
