The editor of "Reformation & Revival Journal" takes a serious look at today's church and the present state of evangelical Christianity, especially in the areas of ecclesiology, worship, and doctrine. Is it in need of reformation?.
This was more a case of clearing my bookshelf of unread books. The contributors had good things to say, mostly. In my view, we ought to mourn for the condition of the church when it is poor. Some contributors gave a fair appraisal, but judgmentalness, I think, took away from what otherwise could have been a thoughtful analysis.
As with any edited book full of articles there are some really strong ones and some weak ones, which is why this gets three stars. It also is a bit dated.
Some of the articles I recommend:
Evangelicals Losing Their Way: The Doctrine of the Trinity by Gerald Bray
Prophets, Priests, and Kings: Biblical Offices by Derke P. Bergsma
Evangelical Ministry: The Puritan Contribution by Sinclair Ferguson
