" Shackled by Diamonds" by Julia James Wearing the rare, priceless Levantsky diamonds is Anna Delane's most prestigious modeling assignment. But when the precious gems go missing, Anna is at the mercy of Greek tycoon Leo Makarios.... Leo believes that Anna is a common thief. He will do anything to get his jewels back! He has a plan: as the sun sets Anna will become his, and as it rises she'll be free to go. By then, her debt will have been repaid!
" The Rich Man's Mistress" by Cathy Williams Two days of glorious, unexpected passion with gorgeous Luke Decroix and Miranda was already naming their babies! But for him it was only a brief affair, so Miranda returned home...alone. Then Luke offered her a dream job designing his house. But how could she work so closely with the millionaire after their liaison in France? She agreed on one condition -- that their relationship would be strictly business!
Julia lives in England with her family. Mills and Boon novels were Julia's first "grown up" books she read as a teenager ("Alongside Georgette Heyer and Daphne du Maurier."), and she's been reading them ever since.
Julia adores the English countryside ("And the Celtic countryside!"), in all its seasons, and is fascinated by all things historical, from castles to cottages. She also has a special love for the Mediterranean ("The most perfect landscape after England!") — she considers both are ideal settings for romance stories! In between writing she enjoys walking, gardening, needlework and baking "extremely gooey chocolate cakes" — and trying to stay fit!
I really liked Markos and Vanessa's story. It really set the bar very high. The next two stories failed to live up to my expectations. But Julia James and Cathy Williams are both excellent writers. All in all,a good book. The first story makes up for both.
The first two stories were okay, both had parts I liked and parts I didn't like but the third... I don't think I can finish this. I can't see anything appealing in a whirlwind romance with a man who says you're not a child but acts like you are.
It was a strange combo for a bundle. The first two were connected, though chronologically out of order. They were pretty good some things I liked, some I didn't but when you are reading the equivalent of daytime TV, you can't set the bar too high. The third by a completely different author. This, in itself wouldn't be a problem but the style and theme were completely different too, so it didn't even go together.
The first two had practical women of middle class background that ended up caught up with rich men, who expected them to be impressed by the material wealth they could offer when what they really cared about was a person's character. The third book was a spoiled and childish rich girl who's spent her life partying, shopping an just being an heiress until circumstances put her in the path of a guy who has no patience with it. And she starts to re-evaluate her life. They just didn't go together. And personally I didn't care for it either.
These were the perfect thing while I lounged in the swimming pool. I just put them on text to speech and had a perfect day with completely unrealistic romance.
