Violetta is an executioner… of vampires. Famed for her fiery beauty and mesmerising personality, she has never failed an assignment. Monsieur Martinet is no ordinary vampire, though. He is a master at his craft and can control humans with the merest flick of his eyelids. The vampire huntress with the porcelain skin and flaming red hair has killed all of his brethren, without exception. He now seeks the ultimate her submission in HIS bed. If he’s allowed to stay alive long enough, that is.
Christina Mandara is a USA TODAY bestselling author and tends to write dark romance with lashings of kinky naughtiness. Her favourite pastime is travelling, and if it involves sun, sea and… sand then it’s all good.
In her spare time she’s usually cuddled up with a good book, exploring the countryside or baking in the kitchen. In fact, she loves her kitchen so much she’s one of few woman who wouldn’t mind being tied to it! Her first and foremost love is writing, however, and more often than not you’ll find her on a laptop spinning tales of romance, erotica or dark, paranormal fantasies.
She's a big fan of BDSM in all of its glorious forms, and her favourite item in the toy closet (a box simply isn’t big enough) is her riding crop.
Violetta is a huntress of vampires. After a long search and the slaughter of many vampires, she finally finds the elusive master vampire at a masked ball in Venice. Determined to complete her mission, she armed and ready for the biggest challenge of her life.
“I will find a way to end your miserable life...”
Monsieur Martinet is an old one and has been waiting to mete out his revenge upon the human who has taken so many of his sired children. After laying eyes upon Violetta, he is intrigued by her beauty and her allegiance to her assignment which will makes playing with her even more delicious.
“Your complete surrender, my dear. Your capitulation to my every whim and desire. Oh, and your soul, of course.”
In this prequel, we are introduced to two dynamic characters with incredible sexual tension. Violetta is feisty and not about to surrender but Monsieur Martinet has the power to manipulate and the patience to hold the reigns for as long as it takes.
Dancing with Death is a sexy and entertaining entry into the thrilling and exotic world of Violetta and Monsieur Martinet. With the author’s effortless narrative, she sets an immediate tone for two characters to intellectually and physically duel. I look forward to continuing this series with the second book straight away! For those looking for a sexy vamp romance, I recommend!
Oh, come on! I know a lot of authors include material from other books, but this is the first time teasers have made up 58% of the e-book. I find that more than insulting.
Needless to say, I will not be buying the next installment, featuring the best, most astonishingly beautiful/lovely/sexy/gorgeous female slayer of vampires. And what does this lauded vampire executioner wear on the day she plans to fight a skilled, deadly vampire master who could potentially end her life, you ask? Why, stilettos of course...
Well what can I say, I loved it, but just wanted so much more. This very short story has left me with ..what, no you can't leave me there!!!! It's just too short. We are introduced to the main characters and given a bit of background of how they have come to where there at, and were introduced to places this book could go. We're shown how violetta, the female heroine can be mastered and manipulated by the vampire. He has no real passion or desire for her at this stage, but there is a little bit of something as he likes her scent. It's a great start, but dropped a star for me because it's just too short. I so wanted more. I was do frustrated !!!! Very well written story, which took a bit to get me going at first as we appear right in the middle of everything, there was no real introduction. This book throws you into it all right from the offing..great
This was a very short book, more like a novella or an introduction to the characters and setting.
The characters are strong and interesting. I really enjoyed Violetta, the strong female vampire slayer. She was confident, skilled and assertive. Monsieur Martinet was devious and sinister.
I thought it was very interesting when Monsieur Martinet shifted the setting mentally. The author used his power to show us how he could control reality. I hope to see more of that in the next book.
I felt like the story was the strongest in the last half and I was left wanting to read more. It's hard to get attached the characters and relax into the story when it is a novella.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review through the BDSM group.
I was lucky enough to have the privilege to beta read this book and let me tell you .... this book had me hooked from page one up until the end.
Can I just say that Monsieur Martinet is indeed exceptionally talented!! I am a little jealous of Violetta!! I throughly enjoyed this story and didn't want it to end!!
C.P Mandara you are now officially the 'Queen of Naughtiness', and I mean that with utmost admiration. And as expected, from reading your other books, I was not disappointed as there are scorchin' hot scenes'!! I also enjoyed the witty banter between the characters and found myself chuckling quite a lot! I am sure my husband thought I was going mad?! Haha!
I really loved this book and can't wait for the next installment!!!
I hadn't realised this was part of a serial or that it was so short. This was more like the first chapter of a book rather than an actual novel.
The vampire was dark and dangerous and I enjoyed his twisted fantasies. I love dark, paranormal erotica and I thought that's what I was getting here. Unfortunately, as soon as he caught the hunter and was about to abduct her, the story ended.
The length of this frustrated me which is a shame as what was there was enjoyable.
*This copy was provided by the author through the BDSM group on goodreads in exchange for an honest review. *
I knew this was short, but to end at 42% on my Kindle and then have the other 58% filled by a preview of the next part? I felt cheated. This is a ploy to get us sufficiently interested in what is little more than the start of a novel with the expectation that we will purchase the full length version.
I hate being taken for a muggins.
As a reader, I found the prose overly flowery and repetitive.
Dancing With Death is a delicious paranormal fantasy overflowing with sizzling sexual tension. Beautiful and deadly vampire huntress Violetta comes after Monsieur Martinet, not an ordinary vampire but a master of his kind. But he’s expecting her, craving revenge for the slaughtering of all his “children”. However, after meeting this fiery beauty with the mesmerizing personality, he craves for far more than revenge…
To say Christina is a master of language is an understatement. She possesses a natural flow of prose that will pull you right into any story she writes. This quick read takes you on a journey that wets your appetite for more. Skilled and masterful, she sets each scene with visual imagery that sweeps you away into a world of vampire and huntress. Challenged by a vampire that can read minds and can control her every move, we are excited by his power, yet empathize with Violetta the Huntresses. The author weaves a paranormal fantasy hot with sensual tension yet we sense an underlying hint of each characters weakness that adds depth to this tale. Does this aged and wise vampire want to die? Is there an unfulfilled weakness in the most powerful executioner of vampires? And will these questions be answered? Other than, I can’t wait for Book 2, I’ll never tell. You will just have to read this book to find out :)
I was totally Ensnared by This One! Picked this up on the $0.99 shelf and was very impressed. Quickly immersed in a Masquerade ball and wondering who was going to kill who... so much so, that I couldn't put the thing down. Thankful that it's cold outside and I could stay wrapped up by the fire to read all day! This is romantic/erotic suspense and it'll have your fingers gripping your seat in parts. No spoilers from me! Glad I found it. -
A well-written vampire tale. Since it's a short read, it's perfect when you don't have time to start a new book but need something to read. Move over Buffy, you have competition of a more adult nature. Loved it.
I gave this three stars for length else it would have rated a four. It felt like a chapter in a much longer novel. I will read the next in the series. I am actually even more interested in reading the book previewed at the end!
This was my first read by Author C. P. Mandara. From the synopsis, I expected a short read with television action. What I received, actually, floored me.
The authors writing is easy to understand and has a unique flow. The story that unfolds holds your attention and fills you with a certain magic. I felt so many different feelings from both characters. This was deeper than I ever would have imagined and what a perfect title she chose.
Violetta's life is death. She prides herself on wiping out the vampire coven of Monsiuer Martinet. As red as her hair glows is as red as the blood that covers her. She believes that it is Martinet that is the evil one. He is the last and will be her greatest catch of all the prey she has hunted. Martinez sees Violetta as his greatest prey and conquest he will ever have, when he catches her.
A masquerade ball. A tale of cat and mouse. A catch unexpected a kill failed. As the two learn about each other, they find they are unique, strong and just maybe they are more alike than either would like to believe. There is a definite seduction occurring as Martinet exudes his gift of control over Violetta. Even though he plays with her pain and her head, there is something else. He makes all these frightening things happen, but it seems that he wants more than just a conquest in bed. Violetta tries to fight with everything she has inside but for once, her body is betraying her. His voice touches something inside. He opens a door within her that seems to exist only for him. She does the same to him. How interesting indeed.
As they each dance in death, they profess to want each other to suffer. The undercurrent between them says so much more. I love the seduction on the precipice of a mutual hate and mutual wanting of the other to die. Is death their way to life and love? If you like to read about vampires, their gifts, manipulation, control and finding a bond and a truth, this short read will hold your attention. It does have graphic violence, language and seductive charm. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.
Also, this is the first book in a series. It won't take a lot of time to read, but to be honest, it did make me think as well as peak my curiosity for the rest of the story. Enjoy!
provided by the Author through the BDSM group on goodreads I do love vampires.. I love sex.. and both in the same book is just a hella yeah. I've read a couple of others from CP..Mandra.. smiles. I like her style of writing. Now I do enjoy short reads.. this one was really short.. and makes it a bit harder to rate and or review. Mr. Vampire .. is all about revenge.. but is so very patient its a amazing .. then again as long as he lived what else is there but patience. (A few vamp books i've read lately the seem sad.. tsk tsk) Enters.. Ms Vamp Slayer... she failed to do her homework on this particular vamp... her elders set her out with a hard task but as she had slayed most of the vamps in the city...she had thought it would be a cake walk... I'd give this naughty little read.. 3 ½ stars.. I liked where it was going.. just not long enough to get there. I don’t want to say too much and give the story away.. um.. the sexy slayer isn’t a weakling.. the Vamp will give her a reason to fight him, he has threatened her and reminds her of it often. There is some steamy naughty stuff be happening in the mix of sweet revenge.. ah but is it so very sweet... for Mr. Vamp?? is it so bad to be under ...the Vamp? Maybe her body doesn’t think so... mostly.. As I said I'd have loved this read to be a bit more pages.. to be able to fill out the characters.. but all I all its a good story. Enjoy
"Dancing With Death: Ensnared and Enraptured" by C.P. Mandara ist the first book in the Evading Death Series. It's about the vampire slayer Violetta and the vampire Monsieur Martinet. Violetta has come to the ball to terminate the vampire Martinet without knowing that her assignment can control humans. That lands her mind as well as her body under the control of the vampire. The vampire slayer had killed all the vampire children of Martinet and he has no intention of becoming her next victim. He seeks the ultimate revenge. Her submission in his bed.
I enjoyed reading this short story. I can certainly recommend it to fans of this genre.
Mandara has written a collection of spicy stories, each one more heated than the last. I especially like the verbal and physical sparring between Violetta and the vampire, Martinet. The pages sizzle with the sexual tension between the two. I can’t wait to get the next installment to find out if Violetta was successful in destroying Martinet, as she vows to or was he able to bring her to heel. Great short!
"Dancing With Death: Ensnared and Enraptured (Evading Death Book 1)" by C.P. Mandara is a short but gripping and powerful erotic story about a vampire hunter and a vampire. What is meant to be a straight forward execution turns into something very intense. The chemistry and inner conflicts are brilliantly done, a spell-binding read, not just for fans of erotica but for readers who like suspense and paranormal action. "True Blood" meets "50 Shades", only more original and authentic. Excellent.
Dancing with Death is delightfully naughty in all the right places with power play galore! Sizzling tension lights up the stage as Vampire and Huntress meet to assess who has the bigger advantage... The question is: will it be a close call or not? A brilliantly-written, cheeky, saucy read, I was gripped right from the start.
OK, I loved this short book so much I had to buy the second one and can't wait for the third. The author does such a great job in her descriptions of the characters in the book and the seduction between the vampire and the huntress of vampires is hot! hot! hot! and that is before they actually physically do anything together. Yum! I loved it.
Loved this first book and can't wait to find out what happens next to Violetta, who is the main female protagonist in this book.
This book diplays a slightly different approach to the usual vampire tale. No sparkly vampire this one, but a dark character with seemingly no redeeming qualities!
Very different than Ms Mandara's pony books and I loved it just as much.
A sexy, sizzling start to this series with a alpha male vampire and a feisty huntress. Each wants to kill the other and for a moment, I had to wonder which one would come out on top! The sexual tension is wonderful, Mandara's idea of a vampire is delicious and I can't wait to see what happens in the next installment!
I downloaded Dancing with Death as a free book from Amazon. This is more of an installment for a serial than a novella. I found it incomplete, and too short to give the characters any depth. I felt detached through the short read, and have already forgotten the character's names.
Sexy vampires! What's not to like. The chemistry and sexual tension between these two sizzled. The story was short but it sure whetted my appetite for more. I'm looking forward to book two.
