Jack the Conqueror, or Difficulties Overcome (Classic Reprint) by C. E. Bowen

Rate this book
"Resolve well and persevere" is a motto which constantly met the eye of the author from her childhood to her riper years, as it was the motto of her father's family. As a child she often pondered over its meaning; as a woman she has observed its influence over the character and welfare of those who have put its principle into practice.Hence arose the idea of the tale of Jack the Conqueror, written to show what great things even a child may effect by earnest resolve, if accompanied by energy and perseverance. Some resolve well, but do not persevere at all in their efforts to attain an object. Others persevere for a time, but become discouraged by the many difficulties that meet them on every side. But those who, like Jack, are never daunted by checks and hindrances, will generally find that success follows perseverance.
