Ex-military man Eli Jennings owed his commander his life and vowed to repay him by finding his missing sister. His search led to Jasmine Hart's mountain cabin in Lakeview, Virginia, where another woman had disappeared. A strong-willed widow, Jasmine didn't think the two were related. Until a major clue to both mysteries was found in her house. And her own mother-in-law was a witness. Scared for the only family she had left, Jasmine turned to Eli for help. But someone powerful wanted to ensure she never felt safe, never learned the whole truth. And that meant making one more woman disappear.

Did I read the same book as everyone else?

This book lacked in a fair few things; suspense, intrigue, and mystery to name a few. It was so predictable, it's a bit ridiculous to call it a suspense anything. The bad guys were obvious. I actually chuckled when Eli said he didn't see the one guy being in on it. Come on Eli, everyone saw it.

The only reason I gave this two stars is because the author really does try to show that inner turmoil people must go through when they loose their entire family to an accident. The guilt, the confusion, the struggle to move forward even after 3 years. And then add in the guilt and confusion of possibly falling in love again. Yeah, that's gotta be hard when you were so sure your soulmate is gone but then are presented with a possible new one.

That said, I feel like the ending was entirely unbelievable as a result of that inner turmoil. Seriously, Spring? Rushed much? This is why I hate when author's tie on Epilogues that tie everything up in a pretty little unrealistic bow. My opinion, of course. You are totally entitled to read this book and make up your own mind.

This is another good read from Shirlee McCoy, who is one of my favorite writers in the Love Inspired series. In this novel Jasmine, a widow whose husband and two daughters had been killed in a tragic automobile accident a few years before, is trying to help her mother-in-law Sarah after Sarah was hurt falling down a staircase. Sarah insists she was pushed, but few people believe her. Then Jasmine meets Eli who is staying at a nearby cabin. Eli is trying to locate a woman who has been missing from the area as a favor to a buddy stationed in Iraq. Then Eli discovers that the woman he is looking for isn't the only woman who has disappeared from the area in which Sarah lives. Jasmine and Eli join forces in an effort to find the missing women and meet some shady characters as they search. This is an interesting and inspiring story that I enjoyed.

Love is forever

Jasmine lost her husband and daughters in an accident. She lost herself in grief. Leaving her home and her mother in law, Sarah, behind.
The only reason she was back was because Sarah had been injured and needed help while she recuperated.

Eli is on a mission to find out what happened to Rebecca, the sister of a dear friend. Little does he know that there were two other women that needed his help.

Jasmine and Eli get pulled together by fate, or God's plan? She won't let go of her guilt and grief, but when bad things happen, they have to work together to stop a killer.

Beautiful story of a second chance.

Really Good

I’ve never read a Shirlee McCoy story that didn’t leave me with thoughts about my faith and about God’s faithfulness, and her stories, too, have all of the elements that keep me glued to each story through the night … great story line, endearing characters and enough suspense and action to keep me guessing who done it and how. Definite recommendation!

This is amazing story that I really enjoyed.

I read this book a long time ago but it never showed that I had. I enjoyed it as much as the time. Eli and Jasmine supported each other in faith, trust and love.

I really enjoyed this story of a widow and a Marines veteran trying to solve who's terrorizing Jazz's mother-in-law and figure out why some women at a particular church have been disappearing. I very much enjoyed both MCs and how they solved the crimes.

Ex-military man Eli Jennings rents a cabin in picturesque Lakeview, Virginia, ostensibly to write a book. However, he also plans to find the missing sister of a military buddy. He rents from widowed Jasmine Hart, who has returned to Lakeview from her home in New Hampshire following the deaths of her husband and daughters. Jasmine is there to help Sarah, her independent mother-in-law, who suffered a fall but believes that someone is trying to kill her.

The lakeside cabin holds precious memories for Jasmine and she and Sarah clash at first, mostly because Jasmine feels somehow responsible for their deaths. Eli and Jasmine meet and spar, and then another woman goes missing. Jasmine and Eli believe that there’s a connection between the missing woman and Sarah’s fall.

The book is equal parts mystery and romance and involves a very creepy cultish church in a nearby town. Themes of love and loss are explored. Jasmine in particular is a good heroine, compassionate yet distant at times, acid-tongued yet loving. Eli, also, is tender yet tough when the need arises; Sarah is very independent and speaks her mind with ease. After slogging through novels with characters blander than white bread, it’s good to see some complexity. Highly recommended.

This story introduced me to another new good writer with LI! The characters were believable, Jasmine had legitimate feelings I thought, about starting a new life and love. A pastor out of control, that runs his own life and that of others, and even goes as far as murder to cover his sins, can exist in this world. However, this man's salvation is of real question here in this story. There never seemed to be any repentance or conviction. Eli is almost too good to be true, but I liked him, and he was the perfect warm man for Jasmine! The older woman, and the mother-in-law of Jasmine, rounded out the story and she certainly grows spiritually during the story as well. A great read.

I picked this up not knowing that it was an inspirational romance. I don’t have a problem with these books; I guess I just identify with the heroine of this story in my beliefs. I don’t disbelieve, but like Jasmine, I do have certain doubts. That being said, I enjoyed this book, it had enough just suspense and a good storyline. And of course what romance would be complete without the “perfect” love interest. The character of Eli is a compassionate, caring and understanding man (just to name a few qualities!) that comes into Jasmine’s life at the perfect time.

I like a good mystery but these get to be awfully predictable. I don't really mind that if the story is really good. This is OK.

I believe on one of the things the author want to portray,
healing comes to those who let themselves be an instrument to others need for healing.
