This is the story of Roseanne McNulty. The story goes back and forth from her young life to her as she is older. I found that I never know when or where they they were talking about and had to really push myself to finish the book. Wouldn't recommend.

Listened to the audio version and really enjoyed it. You have to be a bit patient to see where it’s going but I found the approach of the parallel stories compelling. Lots of Irish history touched on and of course Catholic “morals” are ever present and women’s rights are ever-absent - both the presence and absence are frustrating and perturbing. Can’t say I didn’t see the end coming but want sure how the author would take us there.

This story is told in dull perspective. with one of the perspectives being a 100 year old woman in an asylum, , and the other perspective being of the psychiatrist taking care of her.

I don't think the author did a very good job with the Dual perspective. to me it felt too repetitive and that each perspective didn't really Develop in a way that made sense that there would be multiple perspectives.

A book on the treachery of memory and on the relationships with mothers. A book on how the real victory is “listening to one-self” (p. 309) even if the world tries to tell you not to; even in the confusion of history, of what is true and what isn’t. And then, just as the roses are blooming again, life goes on.

Deep and emotional Sad in the ignorance of the time. Can’t imagine what her 60 years had been like. Lovely last page/image

Couldn’t get into it. Not compelling enough to warrant picking up again.

Magical.
I want Roseanne to be a flesh and blood person I can have a cup of tea with.
