Resisting Her

She's too young. Too vulnerable.

I'm too rough. Too fu*ked up.

I will ruin her.

But you and I both know that won't stop me.

Resisting her is harder than I ever imagined. My name is Cole, and this is my story of trying to do the right thing, and failing. Don't judge me too harshly until you've read the final page.

Forbidden erotic romance. Read at your own risk. Full length stand alone. No cliffhanger.

Never get emotionally involved in a case. It was a mind fuck waiting to happen.
Cole Fletcher is a twenty seven year old FBI agent. After working for months to bring down a cult leader at a compound, he is helping with the raid, getting the women and children out. This is where Cole first sees Savannah. Savannah is nineteen and looks terrified. For some reason, she instantly trusts Cole. He gets her out of the compound and into a safe house.

 photo 27115c1a-90f8-40ae-8b87-2f44d6c78421_zps9f70725c.jpg

Cole is taking a mandatory vacation, he hasn’t had one the full six years he has been on the force. Cole has to work, has to stay busy. He figures while he’s off work, he will check up on Savannah. There is just something about that girl, he can’t get her out of his head. He finds her in a rundown safe house. Alone. Scared. He hates the thought of leaving her there, but what else can he do? He gives her his card and tells her to call if she needs anything. It isn’t too long until he hears from her. Savannah can’t stay there any longer. Cole doesn’t know what to do with her, so until he finds a solution, he takes her home with him.

 photo 42489093-6204-4b47-97dc-cab2831d9129_zps204ae843.jpg

Cole has what I like to call a ‘savior complex’. He needs to help the damsel in distress, save the needy girl. Looking into his past, you will see how much of a pattern that is for him. Here is the thing about Savannah... she doesn’t need to be saved. She just needs time to heal. Adjusting to the real world after growing up in a compound isn’t the smoothest transition, but Savannah is doing surprisingly well. Cole helps her the best he can. Days pass, he knows this is only temporary, but he can’t seem to figure out what to do with Savannah. She needs him. As attracted as Cole is to Savannah, he knows he can never go there. For one, she is a good bit younger than him, and two, he would never take advantage of her and her situation. Weeks go by and the two grow closer. Savannah sleeps in bed with Cole, cuddles him, cooks and cleans for him, but the line never gets crossed. Until one night Cole goes on a blind date... after coming home, he can’t get Savannah out of his mind. He realizes how much he wants her, but he doesn’t know that she wants him just as much.

They were no longer strangers, but two people connecting from a shared loss that wounded so deeply, it never quite healed.
Cole and Savannah share a bond. And they have chemistry. Cole is so protective over her. She is not like any other girl he has ever met. But Cole has secrets. Secrets he feels could tear the two apart. And someone from Savannah’s past at the compound is looking for her. As they start to try and form a real relationship, Savannah is becoming more independent. She gets a job, gets her license. Its a big deal for her. Cole has to come to terms with all that.

Overall, this one was a quick and enjoyable read. I did like Cole a lot, he was an alpha male for sure- and Savannah was strong and sweet. I thought the story had an interesting concept. I felt that the ending was a bit rushed(things with Dillion etc) but the epilogue was really nice. A good read for me.
It was so easy to lose himself in her, and he almost couldn’t believe he resisted her so long.

I don’t like to rant on my reviews. I really *really* don’t.

But here’s the thing:

Just because there’s a story in your head and you can do some clever things with a pencil… doesn’t mean you’re a writer.

DIDN'T DO IT FOR ME

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS DO NOT READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW......
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FBI agent Cole is part of a raid on a cult, the leader is suspected of persuading his followers to commit suicide. Searching the premises Cole finds a beautiful young woman crouched in a corner. She seems terrified. Cole picks her up and takes her out, she seems to instinctively trust him. Days later unable to get this young woman out of his thoughts he visits her at the safe house. Savannah is not happy in the safe house, she misses the company of the other women from the cult. She's happy to see Cole. But after he leaves an incident happens, she phones Cole he immediately returns, and takes Savannah home with him.

What follows for the first 40% of the book is the mounting tension between Cole and Savannah. Stolen looks and touches. It doesn't help that they sleep in the same bed. That became a regular occurrence after Savannah's nightmares. Cole is finding it more and more difficult to resist Savannah, but not only does he feel she's too young for him, but she's totally inexperienced.

I usually like this authors books, but this one just didn't do it for me. Cole was a complex character, he means well even if he behaves like a complete idiot. Savannah is sleeping in his bed each night, but he then goes on a blind date his sister arranges and brings the woman back to his flat, and proceeds to have sex with her in the same bed where he sleeps with Savannah. Of course Savannah catches them. Then literally minutes after the woman leaves, Savannah who's upset is being comforted by Cole, when things get a little out of hand. That was a bit of a "WTF" moment for me. But worse was to come. When eventually Cole and Savannah get it on. Weeks go by, but Cole still keeps his Sunday appointments. This turns out to be with another woman he's been seeing for years. Plus Cole never fesses up, no it only comes to light when the woman turns up at his home. So not only is he an idiot, but he's stupid as well.. Then there was the constant harping on about their age difference, since when has a guy of twenty seven been too old for a girl of almost twenty! I agree she was inexperienced for her age.
So this was a disappointing read for me.

I read this a long time back but still can taste that sour flavor. So couldn’t resist myself from writing a review.
Everything was ok until he slept with another woman😡😡. The hero seriously pissed me off. And lets not forget that our meek little heroine witnessed his action in bed. It was no relief that he didn’t ‘finish’ with other woman. It was hard enough that he went out on a date but reading their s** scene graphically and how hero was attracted to OW and half hard all night hearing her accent blah blah..😑 heroine lived with him and he brought another woman to their apartment (they weren’t in romantic relationship at that time) how could you cade? How could you!!
And what (super) grossed me out was, during their ‘interaction’ he tasted OW (albeit from fingers) and after she left he went to heroine and kissed her!! There was no cleaning/ cleansing scene in between. Yuck!!! I wanted to go back and confirm this but couldn’t make myself read that scene again.
And later he got pissed when heroine was noticed by another flatmate. HYPOCRITE!!!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Two days. Two fucking days that I wasted on this novel. Two days gone when I could have spent my time reading other good books. Resisting Her was rampant with outdated ideas and- and- and it doesn't even make sense!!! The story dragged on for too long. The pacing was horribly plotted.

I wanted to bash all of the character's heads through a wall. A really big wall. Preferably a wall that can fight back and punch some common sense into them. A quote featuring Butch from the Black Dagger Brotherhood series written by J.R. Ward reflects my thoughts perfectly about the characters:
Butch tightened his grip on the cell and wished there was an app that let you reach through the phone and bitch slap someone.

In this case, I wish there's an app that lets me reach through this Kindle and bitch slap the main characters for pissing me off.

Resisting Her is about Agent Cole Fletcher who falls in sex-obsession insta-love with Savannah, a nineteen year old, whom he rescues from a cult. Now this is where the logic fails. It felt a little...incredulous.

All that happened was that Cole walked into a room and seeing the most be-u-tiful girl evah, his dick immediately takes over his brain. Savannah's green eyes had all but hypnotised him even though he was supposed to be focused on rescuing people from a crazy leader who wants them to commit suicide. Violin music starts playing and the candlelights are dimmed, and while Cole was busy ogling at Savannah, I was busy thinking, what the hell, isn't he supposed to stop people from killing themselves at the whim of their leader or what?? Aren't they dead by now?

You get what I'm trying to say. Focus on the job, you big idjit. Another problem I had was: Savannah.

Savannah, being the "dainty, delicate and innocent" virginal heroine but is "incredibly mature for her age and is apparently a sex goddess" (No, I don't know how that really works either) falls right into Cole's arms.

Like literally she trusts Cole immediately because her instincts are telling her to. That's it. Even though she lived in a cult for seven years(?!?!?!?!?) where she was told continuously that all men wanted one thing only, and that was sex!!, she still trusted Cole. She trusted Cole enough to go to his bloody house and live there. Live there!!! After knowing him less than a hour!!

Isn't she supposed to, I don't know, be emotionally and psychologically scarred from your experiences? . Instead she's perfectly fine and she gets a free dog whom she names Cuddles (which really, I find laughable).

Wow. Seems legit.

And then after staying in his home for a few days, Savannah suddenly transforms into this magical housewife who loves cooking for Cole and fawning and fussing over him in the day. At night, she loves to cuddle up to Cole, because he chases the nightmares away or some shit like that. Savannah needs Cole to act like her master knight in shining armour.

And if the characters were bad, the storyline was even worse.

Blurgh.

I love you Kendall Ryan, but this wasn’t my cuppa.

Things I love:

I love the cover.

I love the narrator (I did the audio narration of this book)

I love the summary, because I love a damsel in distress.

I loved that it was short and sweet.

Things that didn’t jive with me:

The Hero, it was hard to find him redeemable (especially when he:

I still love you Kendall!

Boring. No chemistry. I can't even remember the H or the h's names, and I just finished it.

Plot: H is a federal something or other that rescues the h as in carries the herout of the compound she's been raised in. Yep, that's the rescue scenario: he carries her. He is drawn to her skinny, downtrodden ethereal beauty plus he has a serious hero complex.

He takes her home where she cooks a lot; he gets her a dog, and his sister finds out about the h. In need of comfort, she has taken to sleeping with him. Just sleeping.

This was also more of a novella. Even taking into account the skimming, it was a very short read.

A big fat DNF.

Hero is 27. Heroine is 19. He's an FBI agent who saves her from a cult-like compound. Since she's 19, she's too old to go into the system so he tracks her down and takes her home with him. She's all clingy. Can't seem to not touch him all the time and the only time she can sleep well is when she's in bed with him. Which I find bizarre since she was raised to not trust any guys because all they want is to get in her pants. He keeps his hands off her. Accepts a blind date his sister set him up on. Brings home his date, has sex with her and the heroine sees them having sex. After the blind date goes home, hero goes to heroine's room and ends up giving her a massage and then goes down on her. WTF? Are you serious? You just had sex with someone else, sure, you didn't have your moment once you noticed heroine standing in the doorway but are you flipping kidding me? To go from that to the heroine's bed?

Helllll no. Hellllll no.

DNF.

This is not really a review, more of a note to myself should I ever wonder why I didn't like this.

Cole. FBI hottie who's married to the job. The job that sees him busting a cult and rescuing the innocent Savannah.

At least that's what you'd expect right? But for someone who'd basically only ever known life in a cult, she was surprisingly knowledgeable with things such as dodgy areas of town. Oh, that's because she was the only one allowed out of the compound to get her studdies. Convenient.

Cole is a douche. The whole mystery Sunday whereabouts gets boring real quick! I hated Cole for most of this... esp after that Sali hookup. Way to make me feel icky Kendall Ryan.

Yep, that was gross.

I have a very sensitive stomach. So as I vehemently threw up during that scene I have no energy to write a review;

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Let me just add a little tidbit here. Heroine was sleeping literally on him every night due to her PTSD, so how did he not think of her walking into his room even for sleep when he decided to bring the OW home?

She wasn't the one needed saving...

Cole is an FBI agent raiding a cult compound and found Savannah crouched in a corner. Cole picks her up and she seems to instinctively trust him right away. Cole watches the authorities take her away but couldn't help thinking about her and how she'd felt in his arms. He ends up seeking her out just to make sure she's okay but Savannah is not happy and offer to bring her home with him...

Cole is a sexy, alpha protective to Savannah. He's not looking for love but he couldn't help his attraction to Savannah. The sexual tension was all over the book to the point that I just want to smack Cole for being so dense! lol. One of the reason why he doesn't want to touch her is because she's too young, needs to spread her wings... yada, yada, yada! I was getting pissed with his silly reasons.. heck half the book was him denying and fighting his attraction. But despite my rant for Cole, I couldn't help but fall for him. He's just so sexy and to darn sweet.

Now on to Savannah.. She didn't have the normal teenager experience because she spent most of her life in a secluded compound taking care of other people. Yes, she's naive but also very strong. It was interesting to see her mothering Cole and the way they cuddled at night was very sweet. She was very open and honest with her feelings. Cole thought she needed saving, but it was her who saved him in the end.

Ohh and when Cole brought the girl in his apartment... and when Savannah was watching them...whew! that.was.hot!!!! ^_^

My only complain in this story is the dirty secret Cole was keeping.. I was on the edge the entire time and thought omg! what's the big secret?! then when the secret was revealed I couldn't help but feel disappointed. The ending felt so rush- I was like... wtf?! What happened to Abbie? The way he clung to Cole, it seems like Abbie didn't want to let him go... How about Dillon? I have few unanswered questions. grr!

Over all I really like this book. This is a must read and I highly recommend it!

resist

**ARC provided in exchange for an honest review**

Resisting Her had everything I look for in an erotic novel.

Sexy Hero
Loveable Heroine
Sensual and arousing sex scenes
Provocative storyline

I always get scared when I start an erotic novel. Mainly because as much as I love dirty scenes I need MORE. I need storyline. I need realistic love and attachments that are formed outside of the bedroom. And I need characters that I want to root for.

Resisting Her totally fit the bill! Not only is the chemistry and sexual tension between Cole and Savannah so thick and sensual that I was left in a constant state of arousal, but there is a lot of development in both characters.

For example, Cole is a good man. Not only is he practically a FBI superhero, but he has a conscience, morals, and his feelings towards Savannah aren't only primal.

And Savannah, there is a raw vulnerability and innocence about her that is endearing. Heroines in books are always the hardest for me to relate to, and like, and I was on Team Savannah from the get-go.

There were moments between Cole and Savannah that made me swoon, and then there were moments where I wanted to take a cold shower. I felt the connection between these two broken characters that quickly solidified this as one of my favorite reads of 2013.

If your looking for a sexy read with tons of heart, Resisting Her is the book you need to start NOW.

I love books by this author however this book was a huge disappointment for me. I can't pin point what I didn't like it just missed the pizzaz other books like Make Me Yours had. With this being said I will still continue to any Kendall Ryan book as I think she is a brilliant author. Can't say I would recommend this one however if you are wanting an exceptional book by this author read Make Me Yours. It is an incredible read.

Another one from my TBR I purchased years ago… I’m beginning to see why I passed on these. This one is just silly and so illogical that I couldn’t get onboard.

Cole Fletcher is an FBI agent that falls into insta-lust with Savanah while he’s infiltrating a suicide cult.

It’s all just too much that takes everything to a level of silliness… maybe had I read it 10 years ago I would’ve enjoyed it more, but I’m way too old for this crap now.

There are authors who rarely disappoint, and Kendall Ryan is that author for me. I haven't read a book of hers that I haven't enjoyed and this one was no exception. I was completely captivated by the first page and devoured the book in a day.

What I look for in a book is a sexy and strong hero, a likable heroine, awesome chemistry, and enough suspense to keep me from wanting to put it down. This book has all of that. It starts out with Cole, a 26-year-old FBI agent, who's raiding a compound where a cult leader is suspected of convincing his followers to commit suicide. What he finds when he gets there is, Savannah, a 19-year-old refugee. Something in them instantly sparks when they see each other and although Cole watches the authorities take her away - he won't be able to get her off his mind. He ends up seeking her out to make sure she's okay - but when he finds she isn't, he offers to take her in until she can get back on her feet.

In the beginning Cole has some issues with their age difference and Savannah's innocence. Normally, I would have serious issues with that in a book, too. But their relationship is so slow building that over time, the age means nothing compared to the friendship and love that they build. It's that slow build-up of suspense that had me glued to my Kindle. I was anxious to see the walls Cole had so carefully built around himself come crashing down when he started to realize his true feelings for Savannah. But he also has demons from his past that he's kept buried deep, and they will show themselves eventually. This will cause him to finally deal with his long overdue issues and make a decision that will impact his future with Savannah.

Savannah wasn't the scared young girl that you'd expect her to be, growing up in the conditions she did. She was compassionate and sweet, and surprisingly well-adjusted - her first instinct always to take care of others. When you believe Cole is the one saving her - you start to realize she's actually saving him instead.

And oh, Cole. Such a sexy, protective, alpha male with the sweetest heart. I just fell head-over-heals for him and how wonderful he treated Savannah. He never took advantage of her and fought his obvious attraction to her for so long, always concerned more for her well-being. He always had the best of intentions, even though he tended to screw up a bit - it was never in an unforgivable way.

Lastly - I'd be remiss if I didn't mention how HOT this book was. And I mean heart-pounding, need a fan after reading some of those scenes, hot! Kendall Ryan knows not only knows how to create a perfect hero worth swooning over, but can write a steamy scene that gets your blood pumping!

A truly beautiful love story that I really enjoyed and recommend. Kendall Ryan has a fan in me for life and I can't wait for her next release!

5 Sexy, Alpha-Hotness, Man in Uniform, Can I hold your “Gun” Stars!!!!!

Freeze!!!!!! Put your hands up…….. And give a round of applause to Miss Kendall Ryan for making another amazing, sexy book with an incredible Alpha-Man Candy.

Colby “Cole” Fletcher was the man in uniform, and boy when I picture him in my head I see him, muscles tight straining against his business button up shirt. I really just want to bust open the front of his shirt and listen for the buttons to hit the floor and admire his amazing physique. *Fans Self*

Ok back to my review, I should probably stop getting side tracked *Wink*

Cole had this incredible soft side to him that made him want to care for, and rehabilitate the broken girl. I didn’t know all along that he was unconsciously doing it. I thought maybe it was just his way of making sure someone was OK after he completely turned someone’s world upside down. He does things that just come natural to him. The hurt and pain makes him react! His past plays a HUGE part in the way he acts. I know, you want to know what happens, right? Ok well, you can all pick up the book April 19th (insert Plug here)
Savannah, man she has gone through the hell, and back but is STRONG, and is going to try hard to make her life into something Beautiful!
The depth of Savannah's need to take care of Cole showed me how incredibly strong and selfless she was, and I was at peace knowing she was going to be Okay knowing Cole was her savior. But was he her Savior?

I loved this book hard, I loved Cole, I loved Savannah and I also completely fell in love with his sister Marissa “Rissa”

Rissa was a very vital part of this book. I thought she was going to be the evil sister. She impressed me, her love for her brother often looked controlling, but please let her change your mind! I could totally see her getting her own book. *hint, hint, Kendall*

I am way scared to go into detail about this book because I am not a spoiler type, and all I can think of are spoiler things. Just take my advice and get your 1-click on as soon as it comes out.

******Then here is something for you guys to stew on and make you want this NOW!!!!!!!!*******

“Savannah squirmed in her sleep, murmuring lightly. He brought his free hand to her hair, sweeping the tousled strands from her forehead to quiet her. She was too vulnerable, too damaged, which was exactly why he needed to stop thinking with his dick. Pronto.”

“Her warm tongue slid against his and he was lost to all rational thought. He needed to taste her, to be inside her, to own her…”

Your Welcome!

What do you do when you finish a Kendall Ryan book and can’t figure out what to read next? Pick up another KR book. I had just finished Bait & Switch and was not ready to say goodbye and so I found the next best thing. Resisting Her, sitting so pretty on my Kindle – just waiting to be read.

Cole meets Savannah in the most unlikely of situations.

During a raid.
In a cult compound.
The FBI agent didn’t expect that the woman he carried out of that building would haunt his dreams nor did he imagine that he’d be driving to her safe house just to check on her. What else did he expect when he found her in tears living in a dump. Moving her in was just logical, right?

With a title like Resisting Her, I think we all knew that we’d see very little sexy-time between these two – lots of tension and build up - with most books the lack of sex can be a buzz kill – but I can say when it comes to KR, I really don’t even notice it until they finally go to pound town.

So although I did enjoy this, I didn’t love it. A key thing happened. Cole’s sister and Cole being a drunk asshole. I hate when a supporting character is the driving force behind drama. With her insistence of him and the blind date, her insistence of Savannah going out with their douche neighbor... Jesus, lady get your own life! All the drama that came from this just felt off. It made me immediately hate his sister and it really tarnished Cole in a way that most of the time doesn’t allow the character to come back from.

In the end, still enjoyed it – I could have done without parts but a solid 3 Stars.

I am always crushing on Kendall Ryan reads and Resisting Her is no exception, another absolutely riveting novel that I could not resist!!! Within the first few sentences I knew that I was hooked because it left me wanting so much more of the story, I needed to know what happened next. I felt as thought I had just read a cliffhanger first, and was about to read the continuation. Completely hooked on this fabulous novel!! Thank you Kendall Ryan for giving us another sexy hot read ;-)

Cole and Savannah meet under disturbing circumstances. Neither can stop thinking of the other. Savannah is sweet, innocent and very damaged. I fell completely in love with her innocence. Cole is a strong sexy Alpha and as the story progresses his character gets better and better and believe me, you will LOVE him from the get-go! I adored all of the characters in this story.

Resisting Her might just be my favorite of Kendall Ryan’s novels. The storyline completely surprised me! It was so nothing like what I had expected. A hint of mystery and danger, just the right amount of angst and lots sexy hot sexual tension.... YUP this is the HOT read you are hoping for ladies ;-) I dare you to Resist Savannah and Cole’s story, I couldn’t.

WTF I was reading this like

where is the interesting story?
where is the hot guy?
where is the intelligent girl?
WHERE IS LOVE?

Seriously, it was as if someone told me how they couldn't help falling in love, so boring, I didn't feel anything.

waste of time

2.5 stars.

I had some serious problems with this one. Cole's dark secret and the obstacle to his relationship with Savannah was rather lame. Savannah's reaction to the girl Cole brought to the apartment was bizarre. The suspense element (Dillon) was resolved in a paragraph....quite disappointing that all the build up led nowhere.
I started this as an audiobook, but it was moving too slow so I read the last half instead.
Lot of potential, but missed the mark for me.

Aburrido, soso, con un protagonista con complejo de super man y una protagonista que llora por todo obviamente necesita ayuda pero se la pasa diciendo que es fuerte y no la necesita. 🙄🤦🏻‍♀️
Mi recomendación: sáltense esta lectura.
