After being lead out of Egypt and going through many, many years of rebellion and various judges, the nation of Israel finally gets a proper leader - a king - assigned by GOD through the prophet Samuel. Saul begins well enough but constantly falls to foolishness and pride. His unwise decisions and unwillingness to listen to the Lord causes the anointing and the Spirit of God to leave Him. Another King is chosen. This book describes the appointment of David as the King over Israel.
Good overall, with clear messages of following God and letting Him lead us, versus our own desires and understanding. And how pride can lead to our downfall, whereas humility can lift us up and make us useful for God.
