I like this simple but interesting romance story, I especially like Lord Warne he is my kind of hero. Susanna has been given a raw deal by her peers as well as the guy who caused her fall from grace, but she has managed to maintain her decorum even while being bullied by her Uncle. Here she is trying to aid her cousin in helping her to secure a marriage contract with a titled gentleman and already things have gone downhill before the big ball. All she can do is try her best to make things right but, how can she when once again her heart gets in the way, How can she expect to advise her cousin Juliet, and she herself doesn't take heed, the storyline is well-defined and I love the characters, this makes for a very interesting trail and one I quite like.

Well-done regency, quite different from so many I’ve read recently.

What I enjoyed most was the slow build of the romance The book begins from our hero, Lord Warne’s point of view - the entire first chapter, then switches to the heroine, Susannah “Bowen”. Each has a secret that has affected them deeply - choices made in life that led to family estrangement and/or discord.

As the book progresses, we learn more about them and the how their choices affected where they are in life and how others perceive them.

Unfortunately, I did not finish review at time of reading - though I did note I want to reread

Darn the no 1/2 stars. A solid 3 1/2.

It was nice that the seemingly flighty, vacuous girl wasn't. I was afraid I was going to really dislike her and she'd annoy me. Happily, that didn't happen.

The writing was good and the plot solid.
