When by-the-numbers accountant Rob Morrison, a skeptic of all things paranormal, moves into a new apartment and discovers it is haunted by the corporeal ghost of a beautiful woman, he must hastily reconsider his beliefs and revisit his painful past.

With no memory of her time on earth, Angie Barsotti doesn’t understand why she’s compelled to visit the same apartment every night as a ghost caught between two worlds. If she’s to have a chance to move on, she needs to find the missing pieces of her life and death through the man who lives there…if only he’d believe in her.

Together they struggle to find the truth about her death and stumble upon a very pleasurable way to time travel, hopeful they can prevent her death. But someone doesn’t want them to discover the truth. And if she’s human again, will she have any memories of her time as a ghost…and more importantly, will she remember the man who helped her find her way?

So Fascinating!

I was completely fascinated by the world created in Hereafter. The summary already says a lot, so I won't delve too much into the plot of this short story. It starts off with a simple man trying to live a simple life, or should I say trying to get on with his life after a bad break-up. Moving into this particular apartment totally changes everything he believes in when he encounters a beautiful ghost.
Suddenly, he becomes entangled in solving a mystery that ultimately spins his life in a different direction.

Now, with Rob being a tax accountant, you might think he's a boring person, but he's not. As his story unfolds and his tragic past comes to play, I truly felt the pain he held inside coming off the pages. What kept me reading was the mystery surrounding Angie. She's a ghost caught between two worlds, and her sadness and need for someone to just believe tugged at my heart.

With a story combining endearing romance, mystery, life lessons, and the sexiest way to time-travel, I found Hereafter to be a truly enjoyable read. It will make you believe that anything is possible.

Rob awakes one night to someone crying in his

apartment. He can't see her but he can hear
her quiet sobs. Soon he sees her and can tell

that she is not quite here but seems very real to
him. He can;t believe that he is seeing and

talking to a ghost. He and his twin brother

used to talk with their grandma after she had

died, but after his brother died, Rob stopped

believing in those things. Then why does he

think that he is having feelings for his new

nightly visitor??? Angie doesn't know where

she is. Doesn't have any memories to draw

from. But she knows that she is dead. How

did she end up here. And how does she go to

that apartment every night. Why
can't she stay there during the daytime.Rob has

helped her to discover so much of her missing

memories. He believes that she didn't commit

suicide and that her daughters boyfriend may be

involved. Then there is that cop who seems to

be hanging around her daughter and has been living

above his means. How can they find out for sure.
Together they devise a plan to travel back in time

to the night of the alleged suicide and capture the
real killer.

Review: This was a good read that had just the

right amount of suspense to keep me very interested
in the outcome of the book. I liked the way the

author built the relationship between Rob and Angie
without rushing it too much. And the connection

between the characters even tho they were often
in different worlds was strong and sweet. I

enjoyed reading this book and can recommend it easily.

This paranormal/time travel love story is different from anything I've read before.

After his fiance left him for his best friend Rob Morrison has just moved into a very expensive condo in the city. He is pretty bitter about many of the losses in his life. He awakes one night to a woman crying which cant be real because what would a woman be doing in his condo in the middle of night crying. When he goes to investigate he finds the woman but she appears to be a ghost and when he says so she disappears.

Angie Barsotti is stuck between two worlds. She doesn't know why one minute she is in a beautiful place but so lonely and no memory of why she is there or her life and then the next she is in a condo.

Rob and his twin who died when they were children used to see spirits and even talk to them when they were kids. After his twin died Rob's grief prevented him from believing anymore. But after more appearances from Angie he decides to find out who she is and what happened to her.

From here the investigation into what happened to Angie happens as Rob and Angie fall in love. There are twist to the story that I dont want to give away but it was an original idea I had not seen done before. This was a short and very interesting other worldly love story.

OK, I loved this book. I saw the excerpt and had to read it and sometimes that gets me in trouble because let us be honest, people do not put the best parts of their books as excerpts. Not the case here. I loved this mystery/love story/paranormal adventure/time travel story. It flowed beautifully, I could not put it down, and I totally had the wrong solution to the mystery. That filled me with happy because I usually avoid mysteries because I know who did it early on and it bugs me. Maybe I was so immersed in the story of two "people" connecting who so badly needed a connection that I missed the clues, maybe I over thought and the solution I thought was just absurd, or maybe it was simply a great mystery. Frankly, it was probably a combination of all three. Whatever the case I enjoyed myself thoroughly. I will definitely be looking for more by this author.

With a new spin on paranormal romance Hereafter by Joya Fields is not your everyday ghost story.
Rob who was a one time believer in ghosts has since lost that belief through tragedy, Angie only know the quiet peaceful place and the apartment she doesn't know why she goes to.

With one of the most inventive modes of time travel I have ever read Angie and Rob travel back to find the truth about her death and fall in love in the process. How can it possibly work out when Rob is in love with a ghost. The flames between Rob and Angie is quick to ignite and increase to a blazing inferno by the end of the book.

A fairly quick read, that is fun and while paranormal it is paranormal "light", contemporary with a paranormal twist. I enjoyed Hereafter and am looking forward to more in the Hauntings at Inner Harbor series.

A perfect read for paranormal enthusiasts like myself, who also love a romance with some mystery and suspense thrown in. This is a unique read, and it was obvious to me that the author knows something about the ghostly world. The set up was awesome! And the in-between world; how imaginative--I could 'see' it. I honestly did ponder how on earth this couple could have a happy ever after, I really did. I was on the edge of my seat right through til the end, and cheered at the finale! I could see this being a movie, for sure! Or adapted for the Ghost Whisperer...if the show was still being filmed. Kudos to Joya. Fab book!

Just finished this book. It is a real page-turner. The story is so different fronm what I have ever read.I was on the edge of my seat. I had no idea how the story would end and was thrilled with the ending and the epilogue. This book also gave rise to my imagining an afterlife...what it could be like....especially for unresolved souls. Joya did such a good job describing the interaction between a life and an afterlife. Not to mention the drama in their lives. Also, being from Baltimore, I loved the various references to the "Charm City".

Joya pens "Hereafter" in a unique smoothly flowing plot filled with paranormal suspense, romance, and time travel. This is not your normal everyday ghost story, it just so much more with the characters and their emotional pasts. With just the right amount of suspense, this book kept me turning the pages.

I love me a good, romantic ghost story! This one was so much fun! Great plot and fun characters. Gripped me right from the first chapter. I meant to only read a couple of chapters and ended up spending the rest of the morning reading it to the end!

It is a good story. But I think it will be great if its longer and there is an interesting twist than just to have a physical relationship between Angie and Rob for them to go back in time!

I have just finished this book, It was one that I could not leave it for long. It truly got you in and you wished that they did get together at the end.
The story line was written well and there was enough mystery in it to make it interesting and to keep reading to the end to find out what happens.

A paranormal romance with a twist... Well, for me at least. Well written and enjoyable characters with personal growth for at least one of them. Hereafter was an wonderful read and am eager to read Joya's next novel.

Rather then a scary haunting, he finds himself wanting to be haunted. Joya's after-death concept is refreshing...makes you wish things could actually happen this way in real life. Easy read, enjoyable read,Must read.

This was a different take on the time travel premise. Being that the heroine was a ghost, it had a paranormal vibe to it as well. It was not a badly written book nor was the idea bad, it was just not my kind of story.

Couldn't put it down! The characters are so real, so quirky and nuanced, that I was completely able to suspend my disbelief about ghosts. A captivating love story that leaves you feeling good!
