A revised and updated version of Gary Richmond's classic book, "A View From The Zoo," first published in 1987. This version features 35 stories, 4 of which were not in the original version, as well as photography by the author. Gary's zoo stories are parables of human life and provide a fascinating behind-the-scenes glimpse of life among the animals at a major zoo. They are funny and said, harrowing and heartwarming--and always memorable. Join this zookeeper-turned-storyteller as he recalls the encounters that taught him so much about animals, people, the earth we share and the God who made all of those things. A trip to the zoo with Gary Richmond is one you will be glad you made.
This book was a fantastic devotional that my 7th and 8th grade students loved. It wasn't overly cheesy or obvious like many other devotionals, instead it had an excellent story application format. The stories are entertaining and interesting, with important life lessons everyone can relate too. Richmond has a strong and humorous writing voice. (My one complaint is the book had several typos and editing mistakes?)
Some of these stories are sad but others are hilarious! I remember listening to my mom read these stories for family read-aloud. Great book with great stories!
This was a great book of short stories. It will be perfect for reading aloud to my kids for daily devotions. There were a lot of typos, so I don't know what happened to the editing but that wasn't a big deal.
I heard this author speak at Forest Home. He worked asan animal caretaker for years at the LA zoo. He has all these amazing storeis and he relates them to spirtiual lessons. Great stuff!
Great book for family devotions. Love the personal animal, people, and God stories. "A trip to the zoo with Gary Richmond is one you'll be glad you made."
