The Immortal Accords #3

Within Immortal Beasts

Rate this book
There’s something wrong with the werewolves. Turning rogue without rhyme or reason, immortal predators are stalking human prey. If the outbreak of violence continues, their hidden society risks exposure to humankind. As the original werewolf, Aidan has a responsibility to stop the carnage. But as an alpha without a pack to ground him, his near-feral wolf borders on becoming the very thing he’s attempting to eradicate. Finding Lucy—his fated mate—working with their enemy might prove the tipping point. A newly awakened Elemental, Lucy is thrust into the war between the immortals and an organization that wants them dead. When the ties to her past thwart the promise of her future, she must choose between her lingering loyalty to Citizens or the man she’s fallen for. Neither can deny the fiery desire that burns between them, but will it be enough to save Aidan—and his wolves—from disaster?

Y'all. Where in the world do I even begin with this one?! More and more information is coming in as the series progresses and it's making me not want to review at all. Reviewing takes too long and my mind goes blank when all I want to do is dive into the next book. Gah! The problems of a Book Dragon!

Lucy and Aidan were perfectly matched. The Yin to the others Yang. They balanced each other out, were fiercely protective of each other, and were always there when they needed each other the most. So many sweet and tender moments between these two had me letting out all the little dreamy sighs. And don't even get me started on their swoony kisses! YOWZERS! Chemistry aplenty between these two!

I'm not going to lie, I was a bit nervous reading this one. There were twists that literally gave me anxiety because I didn't know what was going to happen when certain pieces of information were given. Obviously I knew it was going to work out but the unknown until then was killing me. Add into that the suspense, the heartbreak, the swooniness, the love. The feels are strong in this one! All I can say is sit back, buckle up, and hold on tight. Y'all are in for another amazing adventure!

Ms. Hawke has hit another one out of the park! I'm seriously loving this unique world she has created. She's keeping me hooked and on my toes. Adulting this week has been hard. Who wants to work when you have books to read?! Not me. But, alas, adult I must.

And you know my review wouldn't be complete without my casting. *dreamy sigh* I'm loving these two!

Within Immortal Beasts by Anna Hawke is book three in The Immortal Accords Series. This is the first book I’m reading by this author and after reading this book I’m definitely going to be checking out the other books. This was so good!!! It can be read as a standalone, I didn’t read the other two books in this series. (Something I will definitely be changing!) The worldbuilding was phenomenal, I could picture everything clearly as I was reading. The plot, pace and flow was incredible, I couldn’t put my kindle down. I read the whole book cover to cover in one sitting. There were twists, turns, action, adventure and suspense, there were points I was gripping my kindle tight! But the best part for me was the romance between Aiden and Lucy. It was heart-pounding and amazing at the same time. I can’t wait to read the next book! You should definitely check this book out! It was a great read!

Really enjoyed this one!

Within Immortal Beasts was a super fun werewolf romance!
I really enjoyed Aiden'w perspective and Lucy of course was super sweet.

I appreciated the fact that their relationship was growing from the moment they met and we see them grow together, not just fall into the potential mate bond.

The intrigue was there and man oh man my heart was wrenched a few times from the fabulous storytelling. I'm dying to solve the mystery of this series and will be continuing to read to see what happens.

💋Descriptive Makeouts- closed-door/fade to black romance.
⚠️Grief from loss, injuries, fantasy violence
🤬A handful of bible swears and some innuendo comments

Great characters and great story! What I like best about this series is definitely the characters but the world is very interesting and the story kept me engaged. I would have liked a bit more romance if I am being honest, there are no in page s*x scenes, everything is behind closed doors. Lucy and Aidan have great chemistry but I wanted at least a sexy scene, lol!
Definitely recommend, but although it could be read as a stand alone, I think everyone would benefit from reading the previous books before this one. I have only read book two, still need to read book one but will hopefully soon, but many characters make an appearance and since I got to meet them in the previous book I wasn’t lost.

Another good story. There were some quirks that drove me a bit crazy but overall, I really enjoyed the story. There were some things that I felt were missing, some loose ends. Not so much in the bigger story arc but for this story in particular. Like, did she tell the vampires that some humans are immune to suggestions? Exactly how powerful is she? It just kind of felt like the book stopped mid-sentence. I'm going to keep reading, though. I am quite interested to see where the main story goes.

Absolutely amazingly written

Anna Hawke did an amazing job as she pulls you in from the first paragraph and keeps you glued til the end. There were multiple species and espionage as well as love. I was not able to put it down once I started it. Run and get this book as fast as you can. I can't wait for the next one.

Summary
Lucy is the fiance of one of the Citizens members, Derek. The Citizens whole purpose is to destroy supernatural beings (raeths, vampires, werewolves, and elementals). Lucy is almost killed and turns into an Earth elemental. Lucy finds herself in the elementals' community. Derek employs her to keep an eye on them and report back. She is reluctant to do so but complies. She ends up falling in love with the werewolf Alpha, Aiden, after one week-they are fated mates. She won't allow herself to mate with him due to her being "a double agent". Derek threatens Lucy and in a nutshell, Aiden comes to her rescue, almost dies, and they end up mating.

My opinion
I enjoyed the storyline, but there were a lot of things that bothered me.
- The author tries to convey that Derek, her fiance, was emotionally abusive to her and this is why Lucy has a hard time telling him "no". We don't ever actually see this in the book. Other than him brushing her off, not touching her physically, and not really wanting to be around her. There needs to be more here to show how "abused" she actually is.
-Aiden shifts from his wolf and still has his clothes on and items in his jean pocket. Literally, that wouldn't be possible. But I know every book has their own rules.
-Lucy sends mixed signals constantly. One point she acts like the damsel in distress and another she's bossing the alpha around. She tells him she doesn't want to be in a relationship with him, yet she's cuddling with him on the couch rubbing his chest and stroking his face.
-Aiden is not your typical Alpha. Yes, he's possessive and sometimes uncontrollable, but he lets Lucy get away with a lot. She tells him her fiance is a bad guy that kills people, but he doesn't ask more of it. He doesn't need to know her secrets; I'm so used to a very dominant alpha.
- There is a 3 month old peace treaty amongst the supernaturals. This is where I'm confused. I'm not sure why there needs to be a peace treaty when the 3 of the 4 main rulers/alphas are siblings in a good loving standard?
-I just really really don't like the FMC Lucy. That's just my opinion. I don't like her leading Aiden on and being so wishy washy. I do, however, like the rest of the characters!

There is not a conclusion to the story. The author is currently writing the other books in the set.

This is the first book that I have read from this Author so I have not read the prior books in this series. That will change!

I really loved the MMC, Aiden. He's quite swoon-worthy and everything an Alpha Werewolf should be. He's fierce, loyal, caring and protective. He bows to none, except his fated mate, Lucy. Lucy is our FMC and human until a job site accident where her powers as an elemental develop. if I'm being honest, her character was a bit inconsistent in regards to her temperament. However, once further into the story I was able to get past it.

Anna Hawke's version of the 4 main paranormal species werewolves, elementals, vampires and raeths) was quite unique and I want to know more about them! The plot was well developed and there was just the right amount of action, suspense, twists and turns. It is most definitely a slow burn in the romance department. There was a little to no spice. If you prefer closed door spicy moments then you will enjoy the romance. Unfortunately I do not, so it fell a bit flat for me.

If you're a fan of the following tropes then this book is for you!

Fated Mates
Elemental Magic
Alpha Male/Werewolf
Slow Burn/Closed Door
FMC From Abusive Relationship

loved this one!

I really loved this one and it might be my favorite in the series so far (but that’s hard too choose as well, lol). I loved Aiden and Lucy, and really enjoyed seeing the perspective of someone who was very human and only just recently became a supernatural/immortal being. Full of heart and romance, yet still clean and sweet, I loved the storyline and the action as well. Can’t wait to dive into the next one in the series!

I think I enjoyed this one more than the other two. I felt like I understood each main characters personality better and less quick of a romance.

I could guess quite a few things that were going to happen, but it was still enjoyable. I think one profanity was mentioned nine times.

It was a closed door romance but there was more descriptions than other clean books. (P. 125-126 on kindle)

Lucy is timid and sweet earth elemental. Aiden is a giant werewolf (the first) but also sweet. Interested to see how Lucy’s powers improve. Aiden is respectful towards Lucy even though he rescued her.
