I think I need to readjust all my ratings. :( This rating may change to a 3 as I don't see it as being on the same page as Harry Potter, which I have rated also as a 4.

What I can say is that I was impressed maybe, because I didn't have high expectations to begin with? I'm not big on the Romance genre. I review and beta read A LOT of it and there are just so many images of "burning loins" that I handle. I also have the issue with abuse that is in many of them. But, the number one issue is the cliche and repetitive use of corny phrases. This book had a that. Much giggling and much "tease" and a few areas in which information should have been given earlier and some of it given did not need a repeat. There were a few areas of information dumping that I could have done without.

With all that being said, I really enjoyed the intro to this book. If it had started with chapter 2 being chapter 1 I would have put the book down instantly. The writer gave us a random character and situation and by the end of chapter 1 I was all, "Oh...Okay...No...What the...This is a mystery!" It sucked me right in. Chapter 2 had me confused on who was who and it dragged. Also, all work talk dragged and had no point of being in there except to briefly let you know what it is that they do and all. All of this is forgiving because the author creates tension through the sex scenes, fight scenes, arguments, and even through the grief. Characters could have been fleshed out more, but I'm not docking any points on that since it is a romance and compared to every other romance I've read these characters popped off the printed page. Twist and turns came. I thought I knew-- I didn't. I would say that this author is more of a mystery writer than a romance writer. I loved the way she allowed the reader to believe they knew what was up and at the right moment let them think something else. There were no 'SURPRISE' that was really some leg pulling from the author. Everything was done for a reason, no fate was involved or any other hokey pokey.

For this, I was grateful.

The book did start out slow, but once the twists and turns of Tamara's murder are revealed, it is all worth it! plus, it had a beautiful ending
