George Shea is a children's writer and environmental journalist. His most recent non-fiction book is a biography of Rachel Carson: "Rachel Carson, Founder of the Environmental Movement." He is currently writing a biography of global warming pioneer, Charles David Keeling (1928-2005) of Keeling Curve fame, and sees strong parallels between Keeling and Carson. "Rachel Carson woke the world up to the fact that the environment was vulnerable and could be damaged, even destroyed by human activity. Less than a decade later, Keeling accomplished the same thing relative to global warming with his measurements that showed the relentless growth of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere."
He also enjoys writing about inventors. His "First Flight, the Story of Tom Tate and the Wright Brothers," tells the true story of young Tom Tate, a Kitty Hawk boy who befriended Wilbur and Orville and became a 12-year-old test pilot when the Wrights sent him up in their first experimental glider.
George lives in Studio City, California, with his wife, Martha Stevens, a writer and professional storyteller. In 2009, George and Martha's play, "Seeds," a retelling of the myth of Persephone, was read at Fordham Lincoln Center.
I read I died here by George Shea. This book was about a guy named Larry, he was having a nightmare and this nightmare was taking place somewhere in Greece. This nightmare is about a guy dying from fall and each day the dream gets in more depth. One day he got tired and he bought a ticket and he flew to Greece and he was exploring the place we’re he was having the nightmare and out of nowhere he remembered the guys named and the name was Niko and he said that it was him and he was saying that he didn’t die from the fall and he thinks that someone shot him. He went to the grave to see the tombstone of Niko and this old lady said that that’s him in his past life and he was scared. Later that day he visited the village were Niko used to live and he knocked and this old lady open and that lady was Nikos mother and he said “ ma’m can ask you a question about your son.” She said what son and he said the son in the picture and that picture was Niko and she said that he died from a rock fall and he started to say “ don’t you think that Niko didn’t die from a rock and maeby he was murdered .” She said that he is crazy and she kicked him out. Each day he gets closer to the mystery will Larry find out how Niko really died? Larry played a important role threout this because he was trying to figure out how Niko really died. In my opinion this book is one of the best books I read this year. Each day when I stopped reading I ended off on a cliffhanger and I said to myself “ I want to read more but I can’t.” Threout the story I was trying to think if I had a past life because that’s what this book is about and I kept trying and trying but I stopped because I got nowhere. At the end of each chapter I reflected on what happen so I can remembered what happen and get a even better image. At the end of the book I was happy because Larry found out how Niko really died and I was happy. I recommend this book to people is they like mystery’s and this book won’t get boring at all also you won’t be able to put the book down.
