Based on the tragedy of the Twin Towers … two powerful novels of heroism, loss, and redemption by New York Times bestselling author Karen Kingsbury
ONE TUESDAY MORNING The last thing Jake Bryan knew was the sound of the World Trade Center collapsing on top of him and his fellow firefighters. The man in the hospital bed remembers nothing. Not rushing with his teammates up the stairway of the south tower to help trapped victims. Not being blasted from the building. And not the woman sitting by his bedside who says she is his wife. Jamie Bryan will do anything to help her beloved husband regain his memory. But that means helping Jake rediscover the one thing Jamie has never shared with him: his deep faith in God.
BEYOND TUESDAY MORNING Determined to find meaning in her grief three years after the terrorist attacks on New York City, FDNY widow Jamie Bryan pours her life into volunteer work at a small memorial chapel across from where the Twin Towers once stood. There, unsure and feeling somehow guilty, Jamie opens herself to the possibility of love again. But, in the face of a staggering revelation, only the persistence of a tenacious man, questions from Jamie’s curious daughter, and words from her dead husband’s journal can move Jamie beyond one Tuesday morning … toward life.
Karen Kingsbury, #1 New York Times bestselling novelist, is America’s favorite inspirational storyteller, with more than twenty-five million copies of her award-winning books in print. Her last dozen titles have topped bestseller lists and many of her novels are under development with Hallmark Films and as major motion pictures. Her Baxter Family books are being developed into a TV series slated for major network viewing sometime in the next year. Karen is also an adjunct professor of writing at Liberty University. In 2001 she and her husband, Don, adopted three boys from Haiti, doubling their family in a matter of months. Today the couple has joined the ranks of empty nesters, living in Tennessee near five of their adult children.
I absolutely love Karen Kingsbury's writing! Out of all of her books, though, this series is my absolute favorite. I could not put it down till I turned that last page. My heart ached for Jamie & Sierra, with what they were going through. It brought memories of 9/11 crashing back so fast that I found myself crying throughout the majority of the 1st book, "One Tuesday Morning", and, then again while reading "Beyond Tuesday Morning". Mrs. Kingsbury has a way of writing a story that makes you feel like you know the characters personally and you're rooting for them to find their way through the heartbreak they're going through!
** I know I am not doing as many book reviews as I would like but I am proud to say that after 3 years of trying to have a baby, we are PREGNANT! So with that being said, I have been very tired!**

One Tuesday Morning/Beyond Tuesday Morning, is the first Karen Kingsbury book that I have read. To say the least, I was not disappointed. The events surrounding September 11, has affected each and everyone of us in some way.
The first book, One Tuesday Morning ; showed the events leading up to September 11th for two different families. Jamie Byran was a wife of a firefighter, Jake and they had a daughter, Sierra. Eric was an overly dedicated business man who let work take over his life. Eric was married to Laura and they had a son, Josh. I couldn't seem to put this book down! I could visualize being in the towers. I could also visualize the pain and heartache that these two wives had in common. God played a huge role in these families overcoming a tragic event.
The second book, Beyond Tuesday Morning; was about choosing to live. Jamie can remember the day just like it was yesterday. She has to make a choice to either live in the past or live for the future. I have to admit that I rooted for her in this book!! I am so happy how things turned out.
I can't wait to read the last book in this series!
What a great book! Karen always writes integrating her ministry and faith-based words. Even in times of difficulty, sorrow, and loss, we can find the good in God's words. This book is written around the 9/11 world trade center tragedy. Two books in one!
I am glad I got the book with both stories in one book. Once I finished the first story, it was nice to continue right over to the second. There was a lot more discussion about religion and Bible scriptures than I am used to. I found this book by accident. I like to randomly select books off the shelves at the library, so I had never heard of this author. I just wanted to read a good heart warming story. I enjoyed the characters and the peek into their lives, even knowing it would be sad because it was around the tragedy of September 11. This book was a good read to put the day's events into your heart so we never forget.
I absolutely LOVED this book. I couldn't put it down. While my losses in life aren't the same as the main character, I felt as if some of the main points were aimed at me. I definately have had a breakthrough in my grief process. When the book states that a person should "choose life" instead of living for/in the past, I lost it. I couldn't stop crying. I probably cried through half of the book, but it was something I needed. The loss of my tiny son shook me to the core, and I didn't know how to go on. This amazing book has shown me the way.
This book was GREAT! It was confusing for the first couple of chapters....trying to follow all of the characters being introduced...but once I got past that and to the day of the NYC Twin Towers tragedy....I was HOOKED! I never wanted to put the book down....This was 2 books in one.....and I just read where there is a third one in this series coming out later this year and I can't wait to read it!
OMgosh... these books were so wonderful.. i love that Kingsbury is a Christian author. She writes so beautiful. I love that the story doesn't end with the 1st book... The story becomes full and love is all around in the second one!
Book 1 in this series (see my separate review) introduced 2 families, took them through the 9/11 bombing of the Twin Towers, and then showed these familes dealing with their loss. Actually book one dealt mostly with one family. Book 2 brought these two families together and dealt with another situation. These books really need to go together as they aren't really complete on their own. This is another pleasant read about recovering from loss. But here again, the circumstances that brought them together were extremely coincidental with no reason that they should have been . This made them unbelievable. And once the situation was laid out you know what had to happen and would happen. Still a nice read. I can imagine writing these books took and emotional toll on the author as she dealt with all these painful events.
I loveed this a lot. This is a fiction story based off of the real 9/11.
Jamie Bryan isn't a believer in God like her husband, Jake. She struggles with the fact that God loves her and wants her to be part of his family.
However, the man in the hospital bed isn't Jake, but, Eric. He finds his real family at the end of book 1.
I think I enjoed book 2 a bit more than the first one. I loved seeing Jamie working at the memorial site and helping orthers women and men with their grief.
Highly recommend this. Also, one day in the future, I will read the final book in this trilogy, when i find it.
Could not stop reading each. Even knowing the end results, I had to see how it would evolve. Each turn of a page would explain how the story would finish.
One Tuesday Morning felt so real. It was as if this was a true person’s life. Beyond Tuesday Morning was like a fairytale—almost hard to believe. Yet both books pulled me in and only when I finished was I satisfied. So much sadness made me cry a number of times. Yet happiness and completeness when I finished Beyond Tuesday. Well worth reading
This was my first Karen Kingsbury book and I really enjoyed every moment of it. I knew being it was based around 9/11 that it would be a book full of emotions and it definitely was. I felt every emotion that Jamie felt and imagined what family members went through during such a tragic time in their lives. The loss of loved ones, friends, co-workers etc.
The scriptures throughout the book really helped me in my own life, guiding me along the way. I am glad that I found this book on the Christian book shelf at a second hand store.
I will definitely be reading more from Karen Kingsbury.
A gripping novel about what did happen on September 11th and what could have happened in the devastating aftermath of that tragedy. The horrific events are handled carefully, yet the narrative creates a compelling story guaranteed to bring you to tears. I was glad to have the two-in-one edition so I could continue uninterrupted with the lives of the characters. There are very few books that I give myself permission to read during daytime hours, but this was a series I couldn't put down until the end.
These books were so good. They told of the tragedy on 9/11 in New York. Perhaps some was fiction added to the tragedy to make the story but I’m sure a lot was the real thing. Such a terrible time for so many but people trusting in God and believing in him. With him you can move on even though it’s tough at times. He’s always with you and guiding you. A book that was hard to put down. You kept wanting to know what was going to happen next and how the people would handle it. In God’s timing it all works out. A wonderful set of books.
I have read most of Karen's books. One Tuesday Morning was the first one I read many years ago. As s part of my remembering that time, I decided to reread the two books. I remembered the general story but was amazed at the number of details that I had forgotten. The character development and the story in both the books are very interesting. Something that possibly could have happened made them so real. They are a blessing to anyone who reads them.
Enjoyable Christian Fiction book - the first I have read from Karen Kingsbury and I believe I will be a fan now. I appreciated the story based around the events of 9/11 - took me back in my own memory of the events of that day. Gave me a new appreciation for the many lives that were affected. I recommend these 2 books.
Enjoyed these books, Karen Kingsbury always has a way of writing that always plants seeds of hope, she is such a romantic ☺️💕. I think I’ll always remember September 11, such a shocking and tragic event!! Praise God for the ways he works in our hearts to heal from tragedy and move forward in hope, knowing we are loved by him ultimately! Yes I would recommend this book 😇
What I liked about this book is how faith-filled it was. It was inspiring and hopeful & I would recommend this book to any of my friends who enjoy reading!
Very good books!!! A three book series......happy, very sad, religious moments! Very well written!! Very hard to put down these books......you just wanted to keep on reading to find out what happens to Jamie, Sierra and Alex!!!
Excellent novel about the tragedy of 9/11 and how it affected lives. Characters and storyline are fictional but could have happened and the spiritual inspiration from this book are comforting even in the sadness.
Karen is always going to provide an engaging, easy to read story that seems to flow. Good history for me, an Aussie to relate to 9-11 modern history moments good elements of story, how valuable the Bible is but pretty unbelievable......
Rereading this book and still reminds me of how God uses everything for something beautiful in the end even if we can't see it in the moment and to always choose life! Like they say, life is for the living!
As someone who continues to be shocked by the events of 9/11, Karen Kingsbury did a marvelous job showing me how God can show up anywhere at anytime and work all things together for the good of those who love the Lord.
Loved these books. The highs and lows, tears and laughter what a journey. The characters became so real. I cried and could not put the books down. Thanks for such great stories to read and filled with a heart for Jesus.
Whether you believe already or have an idea of His existence, this book will guide you in the right path and strengthen your walk. And a little patriotism doesn't hurt either. Always remember what happened that day.
