Nikolai Andrew has been writing stories as far back as he can remember. His elementary school teachers used to have him stay after class to try to explain some of his more creative work but with a to-die-for smile and wisdom beyond his years, he always managed to charm his way out of trouble. Not much has changed, except he's now found an outlet for his stories where he can show off a bit of his darkness, a dash of dominance and a sprig of hopeless romantic topped with a whole helping of hot.

When he's not writing, he's playing with his many aquariums, searching for rocks, enjoying cheap vodka and making waitresses blush. He's got a penchant for vintage Playboy's and Vargas girls and a weakness for giving out spankings and cookies. Drop him a line anytime. He loves to hear from readers. Especially their own ideas on what he should write next.

Safe
No cheating
DUAL VIRGINS/ one and only love/ they share ALL their firsts together.
No OM
No OW (there is a reveal that is a 'gasp' moment that I don't want to ruin, just know that our h is his first everything including feelings of love and lust there is and never has been anyone else)
No gross condom use
Age gap, enemies to lovers, 41 year old H, 19 year old h
No separation
push away from H, he is hot and cold with her, she on the other hand is so in love and trusts him from the very beginning.
scarred, tortured MCs , both h and H, but the hero inflicts revenge on the h and she accepts is as normal. I hated that!
HEA but it was a challenge for me to believe it after everything
TRIGGER WARNING: Torture, neglect, violent/disturbing murder, kidnapping, castration
SEX TRIGGER WARNING: Rough sex, dom/sub, noncon play, chains, rough man handling, slave/master, degradation, light strangulation with power play, knife play, spanking, oral, and more.
Axel is seeking revenge of the Bertuci family for the snuff films they made. One of the victims was the sister of a close buddy of his whom he swore to protect and failed. He is looking to kidnap one of the family members and pour his wrath on them. He sees Maia a tall, curvy yet slender woman who is yelled at by her brother and forced in the car with him, going to the dance/zen studio. As soon as Maia is in his sights, he gets hard and it is an unusual reaction, Axel does not look at women or anyone, until seeing Maia. When she is forced in the car, he gets angry and now his mind is overflowing with what ifs, that in the midst of wanting to go in protective mode for Maia clenching his fists in anger. They haven't even met. So in his stalking mission, Axel follows them.
He sees Maia dance to classical music and in the middle of a twirl, their eyes meet, and he feels his soul come alive. It's such a foreign feeling, NEVER has woman done that to him. Axel never thought of having sex, never watches porn, never fantasizes, he never jerked off before. (I LOVED THAT SO MUCH!!!) He experienced ALL of his firsts with Maia and she with him, I LOVED THAT!!!) It is something he goes without, but this feeling is so overwhelming he thinks that the only word for this seizmic reaction, is LOVE. He fights the feeling, thinking it's ridiculous, "She is nothing to me" he says to himself.
Mia has a really broken home life, locked in the basement she calls a bedroom. She is fed scraps and treated like a prisoner. It gets darker than you can imagine, but I can take dark romance, when the H is devoted to being loving to the h. She told him she loves him, but he didn't say it back and that irked me. When it comes to sex, they were compatible, and the love from her was unwavering and unconditional. I can't say I feel the same for Axel. If he did love her, he would have forgotten his stupid revenge plot since the start!
When she said she loves him he made her say it again which would be sexy and romantic if he said it back, but he didn't, instead this was his response, his inner monologue after she said that she loves him,
QUOTE,
"I need to keep my cool. She loves me. She’s ready for what comes next.
I have a business meeting at the end of the month and she’ll be the surprise
feature. I have to decide who will serve as the example."
His response to her heartfelt confession was that now that she is in love with him, he can use her for his plot for revenge!!!!
I hated Axel being so hot and cold, putting her in a dank basement knowing that is where she always spent her life. The worst was showing Maia the snuff tape. Before showing her the tape, he treats her to a beautiful lunch and asks if she is happy, to which she is beaming and nods yes. He says, good, now go upstairs and watch the dvd, then leaves. HE MADE SURE SHE WAS HAPPY SO HE CAN DESTROY THAT HAPPINESS!! Then he says this,
QUOTE
"I have to follow through or what has this all been for? It can’t be about
me finding someone I might care about. It can’t be about her. Fleur is a
means to an end, revenge. Isn’t she?"
Someone I might care for? God, I hated that, I hated everybit of it.
She was all in with her love and trust and believed that everything he did either she deserved or he knows what's good for her that she is safe. He knew it would hurt her showing her the snuff tape and he regretted it, hugging her, asking for forgiveness, telling her he loves her. She said that she understood why he hated her. She knew she fell in love with a man that hates her. He tells her that he doesn't hate her that he loves, her, but that is so hard for me to believe because he said that he lovesher THAT HE DIDN'T WANT TO BUT HE LOVES HER.
After all they shared, after she danced for him, after he tells her he was a virgin in everything until her, after all the passion they shared in sex, he ruined all of it by going though with the plan and breaking her already broken spirit by inflicting more pain. In his head he begs her not to do it, but she did having no idea. He knew it and could have stopped it, regretted it before the harm was done! When the H is so hell bent on revenge and inflicts mental anguish on our h, that is where I draw the line. He knew she suffered and she was innocent in all of this, that she is a victim too, but he went ahead anyways. Yet, she still clung onto him for strength and support.
He arranges for her to exact revenge on those who kidnapped her and hurt her friend, but how does he know that that is what she needs? It ended up being serendipitous that getting revenge would heal her, but he did it to turn her into a vengeful seeking person for an end result, making me doubt that he did it for her, but it was phase 2 in his plan for revenge. She turned from broken to vengeful and I just could not get on board with it.
There is an HEA, but without sunshine. This was too much for me. I hated Axel and his acts are purposefully done to hurt Maia.
The first book was better because the love between the MFM in the romance was never questioned, there was never any push/pull, hot/cold, they faced things together from the start. Not once did the heroes want to hurt the heroine. I was looking forward to this book since I love Nikolai Andrew, but this was too much for me. I didn't expect the hero to go through with his plan of revenge. I thought he would nurture her, love her and heal her when he bought her at the auction and took her in his home. I was so hurt and felt so bad for her that it wasn't the case. It's such a bummer!
I will continue on with the series, but I am a little scared now.

Don't know how to feel about this, this just didn't work for me.

Axel (41) was on a revenge path with Maia's (19) family. He wanted to punish everyone because the men in that family partook in the death of his fiancee. He didn't love her, it was just an arrangement to protect her as he promised to her brother. That girl was supposed to marry one of Maia's brothers, but she asked Axel to help her and he did. But Maia's family took this as a huge offense, so they abducted, abused, and killed her.

One day while scouting Maia's house, Axel saw her and felt something new. He followed her to her dance practice and got captivated by her. They saw one another and made a lasting impression on both ends.

Days passed after that short meetup, and Maia's family is planning to include her in an auction, they are sick fucks that's for sure! They wanted to auction her virginity and to earn a lot from her. Her family didn't give a crap about Maia, she's been living in their basement and her two brothers and father are perverts who wanted to take her, they even said they're going to take turns 🤮 Her mom is the only one stopping them from acting out their perverted fantasy. Not because she cares about her but more of the fact she'll be worth more if she's pure and intact. But one of her brothers gave her a key to escape, this isn't a good brother, he's also a rapist, but at least he draw the line when it comes to siblings unlike their two older brothers.

She got away for a few days but was picked up and drugged by police officers who are also included in the auction. Axel made sure to find out where it'll be held and that no one will have her. He got her by paying 20M, he's rich so I guess there's that.

When they got to his house, he led her to the basement and told her that it would be her room. This annoyed me because he got mad when he found out about her living situation in her parents house, but he'll treat her just as the same. When they got to the basement, they did the deed while her hands were chained above her head mind you and he took her roughly and violently, but Maia seemed to like it anyway. He gave her a new name Fleur, and he wanted her to forget being Maia. I was hoping for more with their first time but this scene made me icky and grossed out, cuz it seems so impersonal and that they did it in a freaking basement.

I just didn't feel the connection between them. He was hot and cold constantly and he's giving me a serious whiplash. He wanted to use her as part of the revenge then will be guilty for including her in his plan. He also kept saying that he bought and owned her and that she belongs to him. It wasn't sweet, it was downright irritating when he kept reminding her about how he bought her and that she's his sex slave (maybe this is supposed to be part of their role play, idk, it was condescending to me). He's hell bent on revenge, but the first time they did it, he keeps wondering if he should continue his plan. Also, for someone unsure about his plans, he wanted to breed her so hard and immediately, and that's saying a lot because bringing a child in this world isn't something to be taken lightly and it sure as heck a permanent decision. I can't keep up with him and the way he operates, he frustrates me and I felt tired dealing with his 180 all the time.

Maia/Fleur didn't make it any better. The moment he bought her, she was constantly throwing herself onto him and she seemed so clingy and needy. She's young, way too young for him, yet she agrees with him about knocking her up. Their relationship didn't make sense to me at all. I'm trying so hard to understand why they fell for one another, but I can't come up with any good reason. It was lust filled and superficial imo.

Overall, I liked the writing style and the plot, it's really good and decent. However, the characters somehow ruined the book for me, they are both annoying and unlikeable. Though this didn't work out for me other readers might find this up their alley.

Annoying h
Revengeful H

He did not even grovell bc h did not make him. it was all easy for him huh. Things were going alright until the revenge part happened. I did not really liked that part. H was stupid and so is the h my God. Both are annoying. Like girl you did not even get mad? dang.

My one star is solely because it is well-written. I had to give it to the author at least. I don't wanna rate it bc I am not new to Nikolai Andrew and like his other works. I think there was no anticipation built in the revenge part and how easily and fast the arc was done like "that's it?" since the premise was about revenge, I feel like I need more details and scene about it bc i think it was done for the sake of it then after seconds of the revenge, H and h were already forkking like rabbits like nothing ever happened. Just a lingering thought.

" I am not maia, I am fleur" girl if i was your sibling, im going to smack u in the head for you to wake the ef up bc what is that? 😭 INSANEEE.

Safe with both virgin leads
No ow/om drama

Anti-hero’s are hot!

Wow..wow…wow.. there are no words. This was just dark and wonderful. I couldn’t ask for more or better from this genre. Fleur and Axel come together like an atomic bomb and just never stop exploding. I love it!

2.5⭐️

This wasn’t what I was expecting at all. I’m honestly not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn’t this. Maia was this naive, sheltered, absolutely clueless girl when the book started. Her parents and brothers kept her locked in the basement basically 24/7, and it wasn’t a nice or comfortable place. She even hears her own brothers saying they and their dad should get a go with her, but their mom is like no she needs to stay a virgin so we can get money for her. Like WTF?! Than after Axel buys her, well rescues her, at the auction she tries to come off as a smart mouth, sassy, sexy young woman who is inexperienced and begs Axel to make her his sex sl*t/sex slave, whatever you want to call it. How she acted in the limo when he got her out of the auction was cringy. The things she said throughout the book had me cringing and rolling my eyes. And soon after she turns into a vengeful little unaliver, who had no issue taking care of the guys from the auction. Her change in character was ridiculous and I just couldn’t get into her.
The point of this story and Axel taking her in the first place was about revenge for his fiancé who was r@p£d and k!lled by her brothers and father. But by a 1/4 of the way in that whole thing was sort of forgotten and all the book was, was just sex. Towards the very end the revenge plan takes place and Axel has her watch the video of what her family did to Rachel, his fiancé. And that’s when Maia first learns of Rachel, him being engaged, and his plan in the beginning. And surprise surprise, there’s absolutely no groveling, she just forgives Axel and it’s dropped. Now, granted him being engaged to Rachel was not because he loved her or anything. He made a promise to her dying brother to watch out and take care of her. And when she gets arranged to marry Maia’s brother, Axel steps in and agrees to marry her. It should also be noted that Axel is 42, and a virgin. So he really didn’t do anything with Rachel. It was purely for show.
I think this book had promise and has the general plot wasn’t bad. It just fell short and didn’t quite deliver.

I got a slow start to this book because dark romance is not my usual read. So glad I stuck with it. The ultimate revenge is to live happily after, but making enemies pay for all the horrible things they’ve done is the cherry on top. You get that in spades with Maia and Alex. Both characters surprised me by being so much more than how we first saw them in the story, Maia being much stronger and defiant and Alex revealing an emotional, loving side with Maia that even surprised him. When they are together their chemistry explodes off the page. We get a glimpse of what makes Alex do what he does through his own telling. I wish we had a bit more.

If was a really good book. I enjoyed Axel and Maia together. These two need each other more than they originally thought. Axel is hellbent on revenge and will stop at nothing. Maia is a victim of her family but she is the way for Axel to get his revenge. I thought “Twisted Edge” was the perfect title for book after reading it. Axel and Maia do get an HEA but man did time some work to get there. I can’t wait for the rest of this series.

I received a free e-book copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

WOW!! Twisted Edge will literally keep you captivated. There are so many ups and downs throughout the entire book. Axel is seeking revenge of the Bertuci family for the snuff films they made. One of the victims was the sister of a close buddy of his whom he swore to protect and failed. The moment Axel lays eyes on Maia he has a reaction he has never had. When he sees Maia dance and in the middle of a twirl, their eyes meet he is captivated. Twisted Edge will take you through so many emotions.

Maia aka Fleur is mistreated by her family, nothing more than a pawn in their twisted game. Her family members are monsters...plain and simple. Axel Leos has revenge on his mind and Maias family will pay for the terrible things they did. Maia should be a pawn as a means to an end, but when he meets her his whole existence changes. For the first time in his life he is interested in a woman, so he gets her and keeps her😉 Instalove, age gap, sweet, steamy, romantic , with a whole bunch of action and gore, totally safe(both of them virgins-never even touched another man/woman🥰🥰) with a great HEA 😍😍😍😍
