The book is perhaps, India's first proto-historical novel and tells us the tale of the people of Indus Valley and its adjoining cities. It tells us a story of how the people of Sapta Sindhu, untie to face the challenges of natural disasters and the Greek invasion, in the year 950BC. A wonderful tale of valor, adventure, faith, love, romance, wars, peace, Rudreeshwar, the discovery of Sanjivini,Wars at Zahaden, Zarang and Zabol (all in Afghanistan). It also helps us understand the political development of our nation. Also, the Rig Veda and Avesta (Zoroastrian holy book) find a prominent place in this book. In times like these, the book talks of the places like Iraq(Mesopotamia), Iran (Arianna), Plains of River Helmand (Afghanistan) Syria, Jordan, which were, once he cradle of civilization and are now termed as a rogue nations. In today's times of wars and strifes the book talks of peace and culture.

In an interview with Dr Roopleen, Aporva talks about his life, philosophy and his book “life love kumbh”
Roopleen Prasad: What’s the story behind the story of “lifelove Kumbh?” What inspired you to pen this novel?
Aporva Kala: During early part of 1980s, when I was a child, I happen to attend a Kumbh Bath at Prayag, Allahabad; the images of which stayed with me. Then I attended a couple of Kumbh fairs at Haridwar, last one being in 2010. It was a lucky break that the story unfolded in January 2010 and I started penning it with three characters on the backdrop of Kumbh fair.
As for the inspiration for writing, we all of us have ideas which we want to share with others; writing is thus a need to communicate. Of late we (Indians) have developed a sense of gloom and a self-deprecating attitude which this book tries to correct as it celebrates what our country stands for- peace, universal brotherhood and learning.
RP: What were the challenges you faced in getting your book published?
AK: I would consider myself lucky that I found a passionate publisher who understood my work and went ahead with publishing it. But I do agree that publishing is one hell of a challenge.
RP: Although there is no magic formula to become a good writer, there are certain attributes of a good writer. What in your view are those “must have” qualities?
AK: I think a writer is a magician in his own right! An eye for details, human sensitivity, dreamers’ passion, idea and proficiency of language and courage to be a part of the story are some of the qualities a writer must possess.
RP: What avenues have you found to work best for marketing your book?
AK: I followed my publisher’s advice of being active on the Social Networking sites. And, I must confess, it did help. Other than this, I haven’t really chalked out a formal strategy for marketing my book for I believe that if a book is well written, well researched and has a unique idea, it would find many a good readers. I’m quite happy with the response it has received from the readers so far. RP: Do you feel any competitive pressure from other authors and their work in the same genre?
AK: Every writer has a style and content which makes him stand out in the crowd. Having said that, I would also like to add that Capitalism does entail a sense of competitiveness and struggle to capture the interest of the readers, which makes it imperative for a writer to write well!
RP: What advice would you give to the aspiring writers?
AK: Write from the heart, without the fear or apprehensions about whether your work will get published or not; whatever you write, write honestly.
RP: We have heard that writing for you is an ‘exercise in creativity.’ How do you define creativity and what do you when you are not engaged in your ‘creative work-outs?’
AK: Creativity is a unique way to do everyday work- not something which overwhelms you but something which challenges you ‘to achieve, to grow and to seek.’ When not writing, I pursue Yog and am involved in teaching which I feel is full of challenges and has a lot of potential for innovations.
RP: What is your idea of a “Happy Life?”
AK: Life itself is free from adverbs, prefixes and definitions. It is our c
A must read after the misinformation and childish story telling of the trilogy of certain writers. will give my detail review after i write down one. One thing is certain though, i learnt how nations are formed and develop, after reading this book. Having finished reading the book on kindle, i can now write my views. The book has authentic base to it and isn't the mythological mumbo- jumbo of the interpretation of Indian history. I found the book political in nature as well, as it defines how states were formed, how religion was used to gain control over people, how feudalism took its roots, how knowledge was undermined, how the position of women was lowered by giving gods a masochistic aura(Shiva in some of the books)and above all how early capitalism took shape through the development of trade and commerce. Above all it is a thrilling account of the wars and efforts of peace. One of the brother's of the queen Kassanddra, the Greek aggressor is Gandhymedes(Gandhy) with his trusted aide Neero and Zor-Aster!! The author has imagined a vivid picture of the life-style of the people of Sapta Sindhu . obviously using the research work of his grandfather Dr. S.C.Kala, the famed Archaeologist(The notes on the book at the beginning of the book clarifies the source of the writer's research) IT IS A MUST READ AS IT TALKS OF PEACE, AND ABOUT NATIONS WHICH ARE NOW DEFINED AS ROGUE NATIONS BY THE WEST....BROTHERHOOD IS ABOVE GODS AND RELIGION!! KALA FOLLOWS HIS BOOK LIFE..LOVE..KUMBH... WITH A THROUGH PROTO-HISTORICAL WORK..KUDOS!!
A wonderful historical novel which seems so tuned to the present day affairs of the world!! Mr. Kala does it again after his immensely readable life..love..kumbh.. It beats the trilogy of Amish in terms of the vast canvass, depth of ideas, authentic historical research, language, and ignores the mumbo-jumbo of religion. The book also tells us that Proto-Shiva was indeed Lord Pashupati, the god of animals, who, during the Rig Vedic period also became the good of war/thunder and was known as Rudra. So there is no question of him being a human. Of course during latter vedic period Siva gained prominence as a god who would save as well as could destroy humanity. The book also portrays Shakti, as the source of power and a goddess of fertility. A must read after the false propoganda about our historicity..
Coming after the different books trying to interpret the history of India/Pakistan/Iraq/Iran..this book is a whiff of fresh air! I loved the way the author weaves a fiction on the backdrop of the authentic history of Asia...even the names of the villages are true and one of the families mentioned in the book, who is known for its expertise of Terracotta art still lives in a village in Pakistan. The author creates a magic of peace and brotherhood, tying in thread the hindoos, Arabs , Muslims and Greeks....His invocation of a war much greater than the Mahabharata, before the epic war has to be taken note of. The Chronicle of Sapta Sindhu provides a guideline for present day leaders to come together and talk peace, for they owe it to history!! kudos to kala
wonderful historical fiction, highly recommended. Kala's writing style is smooth and idea have depth. Tells us the proto history of the south asian nations. Must read. go for it.
A fictionalized account of the proto-history of Indian sub-continent. It foresees a Greek attack before The attack by Alaxander.. Kala writes with aplomb, giving us a pee kinto the lives, customs and the wars of the people of Sapta Sindhu and their relations with the people of Arianna. A must read to know how we have evolved as a nation... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED..
a true historical fiction which traces the growth of religion, nations, politics, the art of war. Kala uses simple language to tell a tale of valor of the people of Indus valley and their conflict with the Greek Queen Kassandrra.. must read... I highly recommend it to know the Proto history of south west Asian nations..
a good historical thriller which is ancient as much as modern! The challenges, problems ad issues that the author examines are relevant even today, as they were thousands of years ago. A must read for the historical/ political development of South Asia- India, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq...
My first read this year. Took a really long time as it is my first read on Kindle. (How I wish it has a paper back)! A wonderful historical thriller. It is one of those book which delves deep into the history of Central & west Asia. The fictional story is all about politics and religion. This book is different from the other books I read and loved it. What surprised me the most is the so-called present day rogue countries where war is their everyday life once spoke of peace and were highly civilised nations once upon a time. Highly Recommended.
A remarkable historical fiction by Aporva kala. Unlike the mythological mumbo jumbo churned out by wannabe writers in large numbers, Kala writes with historical authenticity and in a simple manner, through a delightful story, explains the proto history of the Asian subcontinent. A MUST READ....
Wow! One of the best proto-historical book ever. Loved reading it! Though I was expecting Sushyo and Yatrayamini to get married after the war but that didn't happened!
Finding this hard to read, perhaps because it's the first book I am reading on a tablet and not a real paper book. Let's see if I have the patience to get through it.
a wonderful tale of intrigue, espoinage, war and the politics of nations. The book is a definitive account of the way religion, politics, gender issues and war strategies took shape, over time and achieved the way they are perceived today. Kala follows his first book ,life..love..kumbh.. with a proto historical writings and introduces us to the way our fore fathers lived their lives. The Greek Queen Kassandrra is a befitting bete noir to The forces of Sapta Sindhu led by Yatravalkavya. A must read , for sheer joy of writings and for peace... go for it!!
It is one of the few books which delve deep into the historicity of not only India but the whole of central, west Asia. Wonderfully researched and written, the book tells us the tale of valor of the people of Sapta Sindhu/Indus valley and how they unite and fight against the Greek queen Kassnddra and her seven brothers. It is recommended for learning, fun and for a thrilling read.Go for it. If you have enjoyed Amish then take it as the fourth book in his trilogy!!...go on and read it.
A lovely historical writings by aporva kala. Must read to learn and examine the historical development of the south west Asia. the writer researches but gives us a thriller with all the twists and turns of a blockbuster novel. A must read..
great historical fiction. for firs times in the Proto-history of Indus valley, it could be a tough read, but the story grows on you and the reader comes to know about the people, wars, culture of the people of Indus valley, and Arriana(Iran) in a thrilling manner.. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED..
excellently written...hats off to Aporva Kala.....well woven plot...intrigues...spy network...Ghandymedes...Neroo...Kusturbooo.....hmmm....remind us of something !!!...great going Aporva Kala....i loved the book...
Historical fiction at its best!! Characters nd situation, wars and deceit, adventure and politics. Kala writes with a I damn care attitude of a seasoned author. Unlike the current Indian writers who re write and then market a poor product. Must read.
A Wow historical thriller by kala. He avoids the sequel system and for his second novel delves deep into the proto-historicity of the Indian sub-continent. A MUST READ TO KNOW THE TRUE HISTORICITY OF NATIONS LIKE, INDIA,PAKISTAN, IRAN, IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN...
great historical fiction..presented in a lucid and thrilling manner. It isn't some mythological rendering of stories but a tale of war between the people of sapta sindhu and the Greeks. Kala follows his book life..love..kumbh.. with a proto historical novel, perhaps, India's first.. go for it...
Despite several 'excellent, 5 star reviews' the book fell way too short in its actuality. Writing style is dry with repetitive phrases, numerous spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. I tried but unfortunately I couldn't go beyond 100 pages.
This an honest and sincere effort to depict how life, politics and power struggle could have been in proto-historical India and Iran. The characters of Sushyo, the Captain and Yatrayamini were nicely written. The war story was done okay.
However I feel the author spread himself too thin, talking about too many things. I felt it was pointless to drag the figures from Mahabharata like Arjun, Bheem into this. Similarly Ghandymedes (Gandi) was a pointless addition into the book. Queen Cassandra's character was totally weird. Yatravalkavya's character was just annoying; always complains about things and gets drunk.
It feels like the kindle edition is auto generated by some software without any human editors getting involved; it is horribly formatted; there are typos, grammatical errors, no headings, no proper navigation between chapters. However I can't complain too much because I bought it for 99 cents.
I should have rated this book 3 stars. But I'm biased for historical/mythological fiction and hence the 4 stars :)
Plot Sushyo is young Mesopotamian boy who wants to be a toymaker. He loves his mother who wants him to be a warrior. His simple life comes to a standstill when there is an attack on his family; the attack kills his mom and Sushyo also almost ends up dead.
However he gets saved by the captain of a ship who turns out to be his grandfather. The captain is the father of Leila, the wife of Kara Indash who is the ex-King of Arianna. Sushyo was never aware of his Royal lineage.
Yatravalkavya, the head of the sapt sindhu confederate, is an old man who is in an eternal state of worry; he is worried about the floods that may wipe out his great cities; he is worried about the internal threat from Dumbi, who demands more power to Dravidians; he is worried about the threat from Queen Kassandra from Arrianna.
Kassandra ends up as the queen of Arrianna by back stabbing Kara Indash, who was the King. She is looking to make her claim to the thrown legitimate. The holy book Avesta holds the key to legitimize her claim. The captain was in possession of the book and he hands it over to Yatravalkavya to keep it safe. Kassandra on knowing about this, decides to wage a war against the Sapth Sindhu.
The war begins and as one might have expected Kassandra loses the war.
