★★★★★! Reckless series, book 2 of 2. The fuckfest continues as grad student is swept off her feet by Rafe Contini while he tries to hide a threat to his life!

“Smart, legendary billionaire with a legendary dick. Hell, I’m willing to be agreeable for access to your inked magnificence.”

The Reckless duet is using different Publishers for the US and the UK, hence the different covers and titles. Books must be read in order:
Book 1: Power and Possession (Reckless, #1) by C.C. Gibbs Pushing the Limits (Reckless, #1) by C.C. Gibbs
Power & Possession (US) / Pushing the Limits (UK)
Book 2: Seduction and Surrender (Reckless, #2) by C.C. Gibbs Breaking the Limits (Reckless, #2) by C.C. Gibbs
Seduction & Surrender (US) / Breaking the Limits (UK)

In the Reckless duet, book 1 university graduate Nicole Parrish (Dominic Knight’s niece, featured in the All or Nothing trilogy) met playboy, heir and sole owner of Contini Pharmaceuticals, Rafail Contini, Rafe at a VIP party on his yacht. They felt instant sexual attracting and on a whim decided on 2 weeks’ of no-questions-asked sex. With their single-minded agenda the story followed them on their flirtation, fuck fest and beyond as enemies closed in on Rafe.

Reckless duet, book 2 picks up at ending of book 1. Rafe and Nicole are trying to escape the world and the imminent threat to Rafe and his empire by cocooning themselves on his private island. The power struggle in the bedroom continues with both learning to compromise while the clock is ticking.

Then reality comes crashing in yet again and they are forced to leave paradise behind. Will they find reasons to stay together and can two such independent players ill-equipped to deal with deeper feelings learn about pushing the limits and surrendering it all for love?

 photo re1 H BS by sb_zps5rpovprc.gif

Rafail Contini, Rafe with his masterpiece of an inked dick falls into the category of playBOY alpha. Used to having his way with women and everything else in life; his looks, money and name afford him that, he finds Nicole a refreshing challenge. Ten words to describe Rafe: Jaded, impulsive, enigmatic, private, detached, kinky, determined, possessives, broken and complex.

photo re1 he BS by sb_zpssn7l1rxl.gif

Nicole Parrish has had a coddled upbringing and thus used to getting her way. Ten words to describe Nicole: Spoiled, prickly, immature, kind, bossy, smart, focused, hot-headed, secretive and jaded.

The Reckless duet, book 2 is mixture of danger, suspense and scorching sex as the too-beautiful-for-their-own-good Rafe and Nicole come to terms with their fierce attraction while fighting enemies out to hurt them. Ultimately this is their journey of self-discovery and growing up.

It was great catching up with Dominic Knight too. The story ended on a high with everything coming full circle including an epilogue, but I am happy to report that there will be an EXTENDED epilogue in a book one of a sequel series about two side characters, Webster and Gina.

Spell-binding storytelling! Suspenseful plot! Larger-than-life playBOY alpha, Rafe Contini!

“If I hurt you I’m sorry as hell. Just tell me what I did and I won’t do it again. If it’s something else, I’ll fix it, buy it or make it go away.”

C.C. Gibbs is two for two when it comes to her commanding Heroes. First Dominic Knight, and now Rafe Contini. It’s a wonder there is enough space for them to both roam the earth.

At first glance Rafe is the quintessential Playboy. It’s impossible not to be attracted to the confidence he exhumes. Young, rich and handsome, every object and desire is within his means. The exception to this is Nicole Parrish. Having met at one of his infamous parties, they agreed to a two-week liaison.

 photo 25F44A81-8815-44CD-A7B7-02B8B584B7DE_zpso3rm0mdc.jpg photo 49476CA8-9CC9-4892-836E-8908FAB86DC0_zpszrecvsr4.gif photo 1CA94748-F4EF-443C-BCEB-1BB65264E4E2_zpsssddl9cl.gif

Far from being one of Rafe’s usually conquests, he finds himself relishing her company far more than he would like to admit or hazard to understand. Nicole drives him crazy challenges him in ways he hasn’t been before and we see their connection mature past it’s original intent. Far from being a get out clause, the intensity is amplified by the knowledge that their time together has an end date.

Their time together is further complicated by the outside threat that has until now been kept at bay. There are further facets to story I will keep shtum about as the book has yet to release for American readers. However the suspense and tension added to proceedings reveals a side to Rafe, that in my eyes, elevate him from Playboy to man.

4.5 ★

Sooo, sooo, sooo happy I got to read this continuation of Rafe and Nicole’s story! Yes!

With the way the 1st book ended, some things occurred that could potentially put their lives in danger. It needs Rafe’s full attention and couldn’t really afford any distraction in the shape of Nicole, but the heart wants what the heart wants.

I’ll tell you now that I'm a fan, for certain! To be fair, I think some things that may not work for some because of certain expectations in this genre, and written CC-style at that, are the very same things that work for me.

For starter, in its entirety, this book read more like a romantic action suspense just because of the events that were unfolding, and if I see it from a movie perspective, definitely my kind of movie. I was anxiously swiping every page, wanting to find out what happens next.

Second, it felt like Rafe and Nicole were hardly together once you reach a certain point, but I’m ok with it, just because I was so engrossed in the situation happening. Also, because the event required more than a one-man operation, some focus had to be given to other characters.

Third, there’s such a formality to the dialogues that while it should feel stilted, it totally didn’t. This may not make sense, but it has such a European feel to it. And speaking of European, I dunno how CC does it but the lavish lifestyle of her rich and famous, with its European setting, never fails to suck me in, from the villas to the yachts to the premium champagne.

Fourth, the multiple 3rd-person POVs that takes getting used to. If you have read CC’s other works, it appears to be a challenge for some. I admit that even I had to get used to it, but once I got past it, I learned to totally appreciate getting glimpses of the other characters’ thoughts.

Now here are the things that I think anyone can appreciate whether the above things work for one or not.

Rafe and Nicole’s chemistry sizzles. Even I’ve forgotten how short amount of time they’ve really known each other. If I had reservations with Nicole’s doubts in the 1st book, I understood it better here. And Rafe, umm, what can I say? I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. CC’s billionaire H’s are like crack to me. He’s your total alpha with a heart of gold. Swoon! With more money than god and loyal friends and stand-up values, well, from a reformed bad boy perspective, you’d think anyone will be hard-pressed to feel for him but not really. Given his childhood experience which contributed to his stunted emotions, there is such a vulnerability to his thoughts that I find totally endearing. Sigh…

And of course, since I’m a fan of CC’s other series, All or Nothing, the appearance of Dominic Knight is, and will always be, a major bonus. More swoon!

To be honest i never warmed up with the characters .
I don't know , but the way CC Gibbs describes the wealthiest's life just don't make me dream. They are so superficial.
Even the sex scenes are superficial to me because they are described clinically. I never felt any sensuality, any romance between Rafe and Nicole because all they express is lust and arrogance .
How the story ends amplified my feelings. SO NOT ROMANTIC. But apparently there will be an extented epilogue so wait and see if i will warmed up a little bit with those two.

My second star is for the fact that CC Gibbs put a little bit of action here (outside the bedroom i mean lol )

This was an interesting book to get into. I didn't realize that it was part of a series and in that aspect I was a bit at a disadvantage. While it's easy to grasp the concept of the book I think a lot of the character development was done in the first book. You actually meet and see how the two main characters met and got together.

With that said, I really enjoyed Rafe, the main squeeze, in this story. I love how he dealt with and cared for Nicole. While not always forthcoming with every secret, he at least thought of her first and took care of her in every way possible. Nicole, on the other hand, annoyed me. She was quick to argue and would kind of be somewhat of a b***** to Rafe. There are several chapters that really annoyed me in that there was dialogue that was extraneous and very argumentative during their tender moments. That shed a negative light in how I see Nicole.

The author offers plenty of spicy, heat filled, panty dropping moments in this smoking hot story. If you're looking for plenty of hot sex, passion, love and tenderness, then this is an author that you want to check out. She knows how to write the steamy scenes that we love and tie in plenty of action moments that keeps the story interesting and engaging.

Dirty talk

So I got a little confused with dialogue. It seemed to me, in the sex scene, that the dirty talk was to so much dirty talk. Maybe I'm making it more than it needs to be. I still loved the book.

I was given this book through NetGalley for a honest review
C.C Gibbs has given us yet another powerful man first we had Dominic Knight and now we have Rafe Conti and this book starts right where Power and Possession (Reckless #1) finished but I do believe you would still enjoy this book even if you haven't read book 1.
Rafe is like no other man Nicole Parrish has ever been involved with he is sexy, strong and commanding, the only man who comes close to him is her uncle Dominic and he has made his views clear on how he feels about their relationship. Along with power comes enemies and Rafe is tracking down Zhou but he needs to distract Nicole and keeping her busy with sex works for both of them but Zhou sees this as a weakness which means now is an ideal time to take Rafe down ......
What happens next is many powerful men joining forces to fight the battle with Zhou and that means bringing Dominic Knight back into the story.
There are many twists and turns in this book and its not just about a hot alpha billionaire with a beautiful girl there is a lot of intrigue and drama, but we can't forget the sex and there's a lot of sex and its steaming hot.....
This book had it all for me. I love the powerful men that C.C Gibbs writes about I love how the stories are not just a rich guy with a pretty girl on his arm, this book hooked me from page 1 and I can't wait to see where book 3 will go........

I've read a few bad books......but this was by far the worst book or series I've read to date! What was C.C. Gibbs thinking???? This was so immature and had no chemistry what so ever! Ugh..I'm so frustrated!!!!! Horrible! I don't know how it got 5 stars from anyone, especially if you've read the All or Nothing series which was absolutely amazing...welp that's all folks! This book seriously was bad....just bad!!!!!! It was all over the place like the first book and the plot.....what was that???? Ugh...ok ranting done...I'm just so mad and disappointed in the series....

FOUR Stars- I received an ARC for an honest review of Seduction and Surrender (Reckless #2) by C.C. Gibbs

A continuation of Rafe and Nicole's story, while the sex scenes were not as dark they were certainly more intense. Each character had to deal with the new emotions they were feeling for one another as well as cope with jealousy. This story had a lot of danger and excitement due to an enemy and less about Nicole and Rafe's interaction. The plot was good, the ending terrific, but now I wonder if there will be a Reckless #3?

There is just something I love about C.C Gibbs alphas. They are arrogant, possessive and once they figure out they have the one they are loyal. The heroines are equally as strong and give back as good as they get. Excited that this wasn't the end for Rafe and Nicole. Also if you are a fan of Dominic and Kate you'll love the appearance they make at the "family" party. I couldn't help but laugh out loud.

Great story about Rafe and Nicole's. This is a great addition to this book from this author. In this book Nicole changes through the story and the chemistry between her and Rafe heats up in a word. Considering how much of a playboy Rafe truly is and everyone thinks Nicole is a passing fling. Very much i enjoyed hoe Rafe showed them all what he was about. A must read

I loved Knight's Mistress Series (also known as All or Nothing Series) because of the story build up by C.C.Gibbs kept me restless, squirming and have emotional breakdown along how the characters are feeling.

Hence why I listened to the Reckless Series as it is an extend of the previous series where the main character; Nicole (Dominic's niece) is the star along with the hotshot billionaire Rafe (Dominic's ex-business partner's son) got tangled together.

Their story is beautifully written but it lacks the "OHMYGOD-WTF-IS-HAPPENING" events as per Knight's Mistress Series offers.

Rafe & Nicole is a young couple and their story is lovely. The sex is even better. The places they went together makes me want to hop on a plane (probably sneak into the luggage compartment and hide there bcs I can't afford to throw my money on travelling rn) and travel around the world.

The ending was beautiful. I kinda wish there would be a 3rd book. I just want to be a lump of mush reading what happens to Nicole and Rafe.

Oh Kate (Dominic's wife) was a bad ass and that makes me love her more!

I want to give the book 5 stars but I have a love and hate relationship with how the narrator narrates the story.

Mini rant on the audiobook's narrator:
Her tone was too clipped and I feel like if the audio recording company wanted some one to read it that way, I would be happy to do it for free.

(2016) An adult romance. The part that was exciting was when Rafe and his security protect themselves against the advancement of his enemies. In the process things go wrong and people get hurt or killed. The Contini family live a very luxurious life style and very powerful. Not much to say. If you like racy adult romance...this is for you.

First book in years that I could not finish

I do not actually know why I felt the need to try reading this book (#2) as I found book #1 awful.... But I did (feel the need to read it... to my detriment. I managed to push myself to 15% of the way through before giving up.

Potential readers be warned.

Title: Seduction and Surrender
Author: CC Gibbs
Publisher/Year: Grand Central Publishing 3/1/16
Length: 416 pages
Series: Reckless #2

Overview

From the peaks of erotic ecstasy--to the point of no return . . .

Power. Passion. Pleasure beyond imagining. Billionaire playboy Rafe Contini offers all this--and more--to the beautiful Nicole Parrish, a young American traveler with a taste for adventure that matches his own. From the private yachts of Monte Carlo to the palatial estates of Geneva to the glittering penthouses of Bangkok, Rafe has shown her a world of unimaginable sensual delights. Now, he is ready to take her to the next daring level. Of danger. Of desire. Of deliciously erotic self-discovery.

Nicole has never known a man as sexy, as strong--or as commanding--as Rafe Contini. Night after steamy night, he turns up the heat, tests her boundaries, and pushes the limits of her body and soul to the point of sweetest agony. But when this masterful lover sweeps her away to a secluded island getaway--where anything can and will happen--Nicole must decide just how far she wants to take this game. And just how much she can bend Rafe's rules . . .

My Thoughts

I have to start off by saying thanks to the folks at Netgalley and Grand Central Publishing for getting me this early read - this is a series that i've been invested in before it was a spin-off. On that note, we start off this 2nd installment with Rafe and Nicole - when they are in hiding in a sense trying to track Zou, all the while, Rafe is trying to keep nicole safe and sated.

What we get here is on par with everything that we've come to expect from CC Gibbs - a lot of heat and passion, some great character relationship dynamics and a lot of anxiety wondering when the other shoes going to drop.

Throughout the story, you can see that Rafe's trying to distract not only Nicole from what's going on, but himself as much as he won't admit it. He's very involved in the whole scenario trying to find Zhou and his mistress/child but you also see that his head is all wrapped up in Nicole and doesn't quite know what to do.

The interesting thing here though is that while we're typically accustomed to seeing the issues as a result of the relationship, anything that keeps these two apart has nothing to do with them - they are GOOD - it's outside forces pulling at them, but never for too long.

So that being said, it's very expected in the sense of knowing where the love relationship will go, but the questions that you have throughout while you read is where is Zhou, where is he going to pop up next, who's he going to hurt and what will that mean. it's the last third of the book when things really start to speed up and you're really getting pulling into the crux of the story. I have to say that it's expected yet there were twists, and it was enjoyable to read. I got what i was hoping for and i'm a happy girl.

The question that remains though is what's next. who are we going to get to read about next and in what context. i'm interested and intrigued since this can't be the end. that's all i'm saying. have a great night all!

3.50 stars

After events in the previous book, Rafe and Nicole relocate to gather their resources and continue their two week arrangement. Although burdened to fight the threat and surrounded by his men, Rafe's determined to make the most of his time with Nicole. It seems he can't get enough of her and Nicole appears to feel the same way. But as the danger moves in closer and their time comes to a close, can Rafe and Nicole make something more of their time together?

After reading Power and Possession I was looking forward to seeing how these two would fare in their 'arrangement'.

Rafe and Nicole continue to have an intense chemistry that jumps of the page every moment they spent together. Rafe was trying to keep Nicole at bay of the threat against his business, which in turn had him pulled in two different directions--work and pleasure. This added to the tension between them, which made for a great read.

I did find that the longer it took Rafe to fight the threat against him, the more distracted he became. This had its advantages and disadvantages too. Like I said, he made every effort to keep Nicole distracted so he upped the ante and their sexual encounters increased in heat. Phew! Those two surely sizzled together. I did miss their candid moments, but the author more than made it up by bringing more emotion to their encounters. So a win-win there for me. ;-)

In regards to the threat, I think the author made a great effort of keeping the reader intrigued while still not complicating the plot and overwhelming the reader. I found myself wondering what the hell was happening next and where the hell Zhou and his mistress/child were. I was eager for the threat to be eliminated so that I could finally know where Rafe and Nicole stood in their relationship, but I appreciated that the author didn't skim on bringing forth the conflict.

As a follow-up book in the Reckless series, Seduction and Surrender, worked very well. Not only does the reader get a continuation on the arrangement started in the previous book, it also gave them an intriguing storyline and a set of fantastic characters that added something to the overall story.

Although I was satisfied by the story the author brought about, the story lost a bit of it luster. I attribute this to my difficulty to follow the multiple third person POV used, however, I can understand why the author felt the need to go this route. Nonetheless, it took me away from the story several times, which resulted in my interest waning from time to time.

*I received a copy of this title in exchange of my honest opinion.

AudioBook Review:
Stars: Overall 4 Narration 4 Story 4

There is a recurring trope of late: the lavish lifestyles of the rich and famous with the women who are befuddled and bedazzled by it all. C.C. Gibbs takes those elements and makes me actually CARE about the characters, even if this was something I would generally steer away from. The second in her reckless series, initially I felt like I had jumped into the deep end without floaties, but this soon resolved with my interest in the characters and their current moments

A rich and seemingly carefree playboy, Rafe Contini is a jetsetting rich man, alpha and dominant, with a plethora of options, yet he’s chosen Nicole. An American on her ‘grand tour’ if such a thing includes decadence, luxury and a smattering of danger, perhaps even some obsession with the man in charge. But all is not smooth: someone is threatening Rafe, and he will provide all the distractions possible, in and out of the bedroom, to keep Nicole safe and out of harm’s way.

Told in a multiple, third person POV, I found that the connection between Rafe and Nicole was a bit harder to grasp – and I am thinking it’s more a function of not knowing the first book in the series to have that background, so I can’t fault the writing, The style is a bit jarring at first, setting the narrators and getting familiar with the voices, but the narration provided by Chelsea Hatfield did allow for some subtle changes in delivery style (above and beyond tone and pitch) that settled those people firmly in my mind.

And then the action started – fast paced and quickly evolving, that brought us away from Rafe and Nicole in a private setting, and moved us into the struggles between Rafe and Zhou, the threats and the ‘why’. Throughout the story, Hatfield manages to not stumble or falter, distinct voices assigned to a particular character, along with patois, delivery speed and emphasis all held steady and provided another entrée into the characters. Well-modulated, consistent and never stumbling over the rather proper (as is appropriate for European / non-native English speakers) conversation stylings brought, along with the wonderful descriptions, a sense of Europe and the playgrounds of the rich and freewheeling.

To have best appreciated this story, I’ll have to go back and grab the first, but as an uninitiated introduction to this story and couple, I was hooked and more than curious. I understand from some research that a third book is in the works…sign me Up!

I received an AudioBook copy of the title from Hachette Audio for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

This author is a new author to me. I have not read anything before by the author. I thought the book was good. Being it is book 2 in a series, I'm assuming it would be easier if you read book 1 Power and Possession first. It's not needed but would probably be best if you did. I haven't read book 1 so it took a while for me to get into it and to really understand exactly what was going on.

Rafe Contini is the billionaire CEO of Contini Pharmaceutical s and the biggest playboy that has had more women then you can count.
He meets Nicole Parrish while she is on holiday in Monte Carlo.
She quickly becomes his girlfriend and for the first time ever, he falls in love with someone. No one can believe Nicole is more than a plaything for Rafe but he quickly shows his family and friends that what Rafe and Nicole share is much more than a fling. He doesn't understand how they fell in love so quickly but, he's very happy and so is Nicole. She argues and fights him on just about every issue. Even in the bedroom they get into heated fights which make it that much more explosive between them.

An all-out war takes place between Rafe's team and Zou's team. Nothing is as easy as it seems.

Nicole is sent home once she hears of a horrific accident involving someone who is near and dear to her. She's not so sure she will ever see Rafe again but hopes they remain a couple and he doesn't get back to his old ways.

Nicole's Uncle Dominic Knight and Rafe aren't exactly friends but they are both in the same business sort of. Dominic offers Rafe some of his men for the war about to take place and tells him, they got off on the right foot but if Rafe is serious about his niece, He needs to come out of this alive. Men are flown in from all over the world to get the job done with as few injuries as possible. Unfortunately, someone is shot, another person is captured. Gora comes in with a lot of men and plan to rescue the captured party. Zou demands 50 million to release his hostage. Zou should know, Rafe's team always comes out on top.

At the very end, someone has the best way to get to Rafe in a busy bar in the city when his guard is down. You will never guess who comes to his rescue and takes care of that threat. Dominic? Carlos? Simon? Nicole maybe? None of them. It was a shock to me and I'm sure it will be a shock to all.

I took the recommendation that Seduction and Surrender can be enjoyed as a standalone however it’s book #2 in the Reckless series. This is a first for me. I usually don’t jump into a series because it may leave you confuse. Please read Power and Possession first to fully enjoy Rafe and Nicole’s story.
Rafe Contini is gorgeous alpha CEO billionaire of Contini Pharmaceuticals. Nicole, a grad student is his girlfriend, which is uncommon for the ultimate playboy.
The story takes place on a secluded island where Rafe and Nicole are taking refuge from an enemy, Zou Yao, who tried to destroy Rafe’s company. He brings Nicole along with him that proves to be a sexy distraction.
It has danger, intrigue, suspense and scorching hott sex thrown into the mix. Nicole is no damsel in distress, in or out of the bedroom. This trait leads to a power struggle in the bedroom. A characteristic I love to see when dealing with uber sexy alphas who are used to getting what they want.
I read the preview of Power and Possession, Book #1 that tells the story of how Rafe and Nicole meet. It was so sexy and enough to peek my interest to read Book #1, Power and Possession. I will be able to fully enjoy the story I just finished.
In closing, Seduction and Surrender was a good story. I want it to be a great story because I love all things sexy alpha billionaires. So, to make this an awesome story to enjoy, please read Book #1, Power and Possession.

This is book two in the series and I didn't read book one. I don't believe you have to read book one but if you want more of how Rafe & Nicole met then you are better off reading the first book. Even thou this is the first book that I have read by the author, I wasn't disappointed. The author did a great job on getting you hooked within the first few pages.

Rafe is billionaire and CEO of Contini Pharmaceuticals. He is one bad boy, alpha, dominant man and loves control in the bedroom. He takes Nicole to his private island so that they can spend some time together & know each other more. Rafe doesn't want Nicole involved in his business and does his best to keep her out of it even with the problems he faces with Zou Yao, the man who tried to destroy his business.

The way the characters interact with each other and the protectiveness shows that they want to be with each other. A love will form between them but doubts of it lasting is the issue. The chemistry between the two is steamy hot and the more Rafe gives, the more Nicole takes. They make the perfect pair in and out of the bedroom. Now they both must not give up on each other and make their love last.

This book is full of so much that you can't just name one thing. You will be kept on your toes and you will have so much emotions that will run high. Overall, a really great read. I highly recommend.

I've not read anything by C.C. Gibbs before and was excited when I got the chance to read a "new to me" author.

I understand this isn't the first book of this series, maybe that's why I felt so confused and lost at the beginning.

Rafe Contini is a billionaire playboy who tends to enjoy control in the bedroom! He's flown Nicole to his private island on his private jet. Rafe is CEO of Contini Pharmaceuticals.

Rafe came to the island to seek sanctuary before confronting his enemy Zou Yao, who tried to destroy his company. He just couldn't leave Nicole behind and she's going to be a great distraction in the bedroom. Those two have quite the sexual relationship. He's dominating and she's accommodating! The more he gives, the more she loves it!

At the end of this book is a blurb from Power and Possession, which I wish I would have read to give me some history on how Nicole and Rafe's story began.

Although this was a steamy, twisty and captivating book. I just felt like I couldn't connect with any of the characters. I was lost for a good bit of the beginning of this book. So, with that being said, read book Power and Possession and then read this one.

I really liked this story. First, I experienced it via Audiobook and the narrator was good.

Rafe and Nicole. So, this picks up right where book one ended. Their reluctance to acknowledge their feelings is endearing. Nicole is more bitchy than brazen but it does mellow throughout this book and reading both characters POV helps to accept the growth on both sides. This story mixes in alot of intrigue and outside drama...keeps it interesting and engaging....I am not opposed to SEX, but the entangled problems, made it flow nicely. Plus, my favorite bad boy Dominique is this one a bit more, along with some drama from HIS past...its good, and although this works as a series if you are a fan, you'll see some of characters from the All or Nothing series.

So, overall I loved it. Don't know that there is a great setup for book 3, but maybe a novella. They are young, so anything is possible.
